I use the tread mill and I am having problems with the bottom of my heels hurting, mostly the right foot.

I have changed shoes but it isn't helping. The whole bottom of the bottom heel hurts...

Can anyone suggest what I might try to help the heel pain and also maybe what brand of shoe may be best to be wearing.

I walk more then run at the gym.

Do any of you use inserts for the heels of the bottom of the shoes and if so where do you go and get them and what brand.

I don't want to give up on losing weight. I am 64 years old and 45 pounds needs to come off this 5'2 AND A HALF frame...

please help if you can , I don't want to give up trying to get healthier...

Thank you...

Could it be plantar fasciitis? Does it just hurt after walking in the treadmill or is it worse in the morning?

If it is plantar fasciitis, there are stretches than can help. Good shoes with good arch support helps. Some people have favorites. Rolling a tennis ball over the bottom of the foot also provided relief for me. If it is severe, there's a sleeping boot that can help or as a last ditch effort, cortisone shots or surgery.

I hope you get some relief soon! I know you want to continue on your journey.

Thank you....I used the treadmill yesterday and after that the heel was really sore and it still is today.

The pain has been since yesterday. i have had this happen before and thought there was something I could do to protect my feet better like inserts for the shoe or a new brand of shoe...

Please keep suggestions coming ...

Try to walk/run on the balls of your feet.

I have a similar issue when I use our elliptical. It takes a few weeks for my feet to get used to my stance on the elliptical. Is the treadmills forcing you to stand in a funny way? Try to lean forward onto the balls of your feet. Don't come down hard on your heel.

Probably the best suggestion for shoes would be to go to a reputable running store. Your gym staff will likely have a favorite. The store may video your walk on a treadmill, analyze your arch, whether you probate, are a hard heel striker, etc.

You can also explain your pain to them so they can better know how to help.

My shoe place not only carries athletic shoes, but also casual and work shoes which makes it great for my problem feet. And they're totally helpful to someone like me who runs but doesn't look like a runner, so it's a nonjudgmental zone.

I would visit the doctor. If you have plantar fasciitis it can be very easy to recover from. My DR. gave me a 5 day prescription of an arthritis medication and by day 3 I was good as new. But it could also be bone spurs.

Then look at shoes at a running store next. Tell them your issues and they can get your shoes that have a wider or narrower heel cup that might help.
