I'm getting rid of my odds-and-ends kitchen storage containers and plan to buy a matching set. Any one use either of these or have a better suggestion?

I have a set of the Rubbermaid ones from Target and want to buy more. I think if you're not set on glass, those are a really good choice. I need more because I use them for lunch every day and sometimes don't have any depending on how full the dishwasher is.

I'd go for the Pyrex--because I prefer glass storage and think that decision to toss plastic storage containers and switch to all Pyrex was one of the smartest kitchen decisions I've made. It's easy to store, dries completely in the dishwasher, doesn't pit from tomato sauces or smell, and is appropriate to use in the microwave. |

I would like to switch to the glass Pyrex storage containers. They are on my 'want' list. |

If glass is an affordable option I'd go with glass for sure. |

The only negative to glass storage in the refrigerator is that it's very hard
on the shelving because of the weight. I have a top of the line Kitchen Aid and
the brackets on the back wall are showing stress. I now only set glass storage
down on the very bottom shelf which has support on both walls instead of being
supported on only the back wall (the way elfa closet system works, except that
elfa is high quality and most refrigerator parts are not).
For pantry storage, I am using the Bormiolli Quattro jars in various sizes and I do use
the smaller ones to freeze individual portions of soup in the freezer. I prefer the Bormiolli
jars over the Ball jars because they come with a regular lid vs the two piece Ball lid.
I found a great deal on them at the HomeGoods store. Container Store also carries
them.
Most plastics now are made without BPA but I do prefer glass. I feel like they are all basically
the same in quality. I use the Sistema line of storage and mainly use them to pack up
food/snacks/cut up fruit/veggies for my college dd. Plastic is so much lighter to transport
back and forth.
Edited to add--sorry about the weird spacing, not sure what I did to cause this.

We switched to pyrex glass storage recently and love it. No lost lids or containers like the Tupperware I had before. I do still use tupperware for mixing bowls and really large storage but other than that I use all pyrex glass storage. |

Love the Pryex. I found it at Tuesday Morning several years ago for a good price. |

I prefer glass storage, but I've been disappointed in Pyrex, as the lids are not tight enough, and I get alot of spillage. I found another kind with lids that snap on, but darned if I can remember the brand. Just keep your eyes out for the containers with clips on the side. I've seen them at TJ Maxx and Marshalls for a good price. |

I have both. I like the glass but did myself using the plastic more. I always feel like I have to be so careful getting the glass out and putting it away. Just got a new set (anchor, not Pyrex) for Christmas and two have broken already.
Eta--I have some glass containers from crate and barrel and am not sure if it was one of those or the new Anchor ones that broke. The lids on the anchor set are kind of hard to get on and off, but hopefully that means they won't stretch out (that happened on my others). |

You have to have a good bit of storage space for the Pyrex, they do not nest. I bought several and love them, but I won't buy more because I am not willing to give up that much cabinet space to them. The Rubbermaid I can stack like crazy and get a ton of potential food storage space in a small about of cabinet space. |

I have three of the sets sold at Costco, not sure if it's Pyrex or a different brand. I don't feel that plastic is safe storage for food, especially for anything containing oil, and I love that you can store and then reheat in the same container when using glass. I love this system and am sooo glad I made the switch! I have shared some of the pieces with our kids, but I use a ton of these in our fridge.)

I also agree with the poster who said that glass takes up more space. So true. |

I switched out to the Pyrex with rubber lids over Christmas and could not be happier with them.
I stack them neatly in the cupboard with the lids on them. I have two sets so mine range from a couple of the very large bowls to a bunch of the tiniest. Even in a small cupboard, with the lids attached, I can put two full sets already assembled in my cupboard.
In use I love that the crystal clear glass makes it effortless to see what we have in the refrigerator, and they keep food SO FRESH.
Seriously, I had chopped salad come out as crisp as the day it was stored - days later.
A nice bonus is that the clear glass bowls are great for dips and other things when entertaining. They blend nicely with any table scape. In a kitchen tight on storage receiving a 2-for-1 use is always a benefit.
ETA I don't know what style others have that the lids are not tight? I have Pyrex wit both the blue and red lids and the lids and they fit TIGHT. I spend a lot of time demonstrating to my family that yes the lids DO fit when they insist it won't snap on. |

I won a set of these from a blog. I LOVE them! I wish I had bigger ones but for me, they are too expensive. I use the lunch one for my lunch. It closes so tight that I can plop in sideways in my pocketbook and it never leaks!!! LOVE them!

I just bought a set of the easy find lids. I chose them because they stack so well. I have very limited storage. So far, so good!

I have 4 of the Pyrex glass (round) storage bowls. They stack into each other so it doesn't take up too much space. I love that I could bake/cook in them. They are heavy though and the plastic tops have pitted and stained with microwave use. |

I would invest in the Pyrex. Easier to clean than plastic, which tends to get "filmy" after time. I have Pyrex, and love them. Easy to clean, and it is wonderful to see what's in them without lifting lids off. I have had mine for several years and they still look new. |
