I've had a crazy-busy few days and I haven't had a chance to post this until now --

This past weekend THON (Penn State's dance marathon) shattered last year's record by raising $12.3 million for the Four Diamonds Fund, which fights pediatric cancer. The total raised over the years for this cause has now topped $100 million!!!!

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article

THON is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world and I couldn't be more proud of our students who use their energies for such a worthy cause.

I know 2 Four Diamonds families and both were at THON again this year. Through them I've seen what a wonderful thing the Penn State students do. I watched the webcast throughout the weekend and made sure I was watching yesterday when they revealed the total. I had tears in my eyes because I know the families will be helped and work will be done to find a way to stop childhood cancer.

If you ever see Penn State students canning, please consider giving them some money even if it's just some loose change. Their efforts really do make a huge difference to the families of kids with cancer.

FTK!

I have a friend who lives in State College, so I've followed this through the years. Their fundraising is staggering.

Unquestionably, the students at PSU should be very proud of their fundraising through THON. They do a remarkable job for a very good cause. This year's results are astounding.

I know 2 Four Diamonds families and both were at THON again this year. Through them I've seen what a wonderful thing the Penn State students do.

From what I understand, the best part of the weekend is when they invite all the Four Diamonds families onto the stage and the students get to hear their stories and celebrate with those who have beat cancer or are on their way to beating it. Unfortunately of course they also mourn with those families who have lost their battle, but who still come to Thon to show their support and appreciation.

I hope the families you know are or will be success stories.
