I'm ready for spring and need some changes in the house. Brought up my Easter decorations and thought I'd put some up. I'm gonna wait until next month though to put the outside decorations up. What about you all?

Personally, I wait.

For one thing, I try to buy "Spring" not "Easter." But I have a thing about not setting that stuff out during Lent. Doesn't seem to fit, for me. But I totally see your reasoning!

Would it make you happy? Would it brighten your day to see it out? Go for it if it does. Who cares what others think.

Out of interest, as a non American, what do you put up for Easter?

We, the British generally, don't tend to decorate our houses for anything other than Christmas really so I always wonder when there are so many 'decoration' threads throughout the year.

Just interested

I don't have any St. Pat's day decorations and Easter is early so I thought why not put it up now. Glad I'm not the only one. So excited Spring is right around the corner.

Mine is out as of yesterday. I took down the Valentine's stuff and put up the Easter stuff. We're not Irish so we don't really decorate for St. Patrick's Day (although we do indulge in some green beer and corned beef and cabbage).

I just set out two things I picked up at Pier One this weekend, but I haven't gone up in the attic and brought down the Easter box yet. I will soon though!

Go for it, Easter is early this year. Why have a lull between V Day and Easter??? Plus, it will remind you that Spring is near!

As Episcopalians, we observe Lent, so no I wouldn't put up "Easter" decorations. That would seem very odd to me as we talk daily about our Lenten commitments and have made changes to our routines and diets.

However, I could see decorating with Spring-theme items like daffodils, tulips, birds, etc. Just not colored eggs and bunnies.

Those of you that are not putting up decorations because of Lent, do you put any up at all? Lent is over on Easter Sunday.

I still have 1 Christmas decoration up in my kitchen.
I have to get the ladder down and that's my excuse, the damn ladder is too heavy and tall to manage.

No, I don't decorate for Easter. Between getting kids appropriately dressed for church (finding dresses, doing hair), fixing a big meal, putting together baskets, etc., decorating is just beyond my reach.

I do rotate in some different things for spring than for winter. I have some "woodland" themed pottery that looks very pretty with spring flowers, so that goes out in March or so. I have a centerpiece for the formal dining room that's sort of spring-themed, so that replaces the mercury glass and candles in there for winter.

Yes.

We do a few St Patty's decorations and have a few birthdays before Easter. So we will decorate for those celebrations 1st.

I still have my Christmas tree up, so I can't offer an opinion on this one! I say decorate however makes YOU happy!

FTR: I'm not happy (or unhappy) my tree is still up, just haven't had time or motivation to take it down. LOL It's a new record for me. My old record was February 13.

To answer gar: Americans will use any excuse to decorate the house! For Easter, we do bunnies, grass, eggs, anything in a pastel colored theme. I usually do an Easter centerpiece on each of my tables, and have sets of rabbits that I tuck into different places (foyer table, shelf under the coffee table, etc.) Look on Pinterest; they'll have lots of photos with holiday decorations.

Christmas is usually the biggest decorating holiday - people really go all out then. The other holidays are usually more subtle.

Well I don't really decorate anymore. I have a nice wreath but since it will be up until summer i am in no rush to put it up.

I have an Easter *tree* that I decorate. It's a
manzanita branch that I spray painted white and
put in pot with plaster of paris. I love the
muted pastel ornaments that I have for it. I also
have some stuffed bunnies that are adorable. I'll
put them all out in the next two weeks or so.

I was going to post the same thing Gar. We just don't "celebrate" the holidays or seasonal changes as those in the US do. Do Canadians decorate as well?

I am seeing more seasonal decorations in shops now but it is really limited to more party type supplies than general household decorations.

To the OP - go for it!!! Who gives a rats whether it is early. Decorations cost a lot of money. Might as well enjoy them for as long as possible.
