I need to put some pictures on a cd or dvd. I'll admit that I am NOT computer savy, and I have done this in the past, however, it's been 4 or 5 years!

My computer's operating system is Windows XP. I have "Media Center" (which came with the computer, I believe it's a Windows program). I am almost positive that is the program that I used when I made my other cd's.

We have a group of pictures that (unfortunately) are too big for a cd, so we wanted to put them on a dvd instead. Last night, we wasted 2 dvd's and a couple of cd's NOT getting the pictures on either cd/dvd.

Today we purchased NERO 8, and my neighbor came over, helped us install it, and we attempted to burn another cd and dvd. NO SUCCESS. We did manage to make a dvd with the Media Center, however, it is a picture slide show. Which will "work" to give to someone, however, you can't see the pics any other way other than the slideshow. Which means she can't email any of the pics on the cd.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can perfomr this simple task???? I know it's not difficult to do this, but for some reason, technology is really TESTING me.

If anyone know how to do this via either program or another that I might have, please give specific details as to how to accomplish this task.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!!!

I am going to post this in the NSBR & General Photography forums. I'm not sure which will get me the answers I'm looking for.

Looking online says use writing wizard. This site may explain how to do it.

Do you have Picasa on your system? I use that and it is really simple. What other photo editing tools do you have?

I have an older version of Nero so maybe I can walk you through it... Hope this helps. I'm not sure which version I have so some things might be a little different.

-Open Nero program
-on opening screen way up at the top use the drop down menu and choose DVD
-choose Nero EXPRESS from menu
-When Express opens choose which disc drive is the dvd burner
-When "What would you like to burn?" appears, choose DATA then DATA Disc
-On Disc content screen, click ADD (on right side in my version)
-Another window pops open, look for the drive your files are on, highlight the file and then click add at the bottom of the window, the file will show up in the list for Disc content, keep adding until all the files are on the screen that says disc content. Watch the display at the bottom of the window to be sure you are not over filling the disc. It will get in the red zone if you do.
-click next at the bottom of the Disc Content screen
-Writing speed (I usually slow it down to about half of maximum, maximum is default, but I get better burns if I slow it down.
-#of copies choose 1 for the first time
-verify data (you can choose this if you want the program to verify that all the files you chose are on there. This will take some time for the computer to do. If you only have a few photos, I would just check once the disc is finished by trying to open the photos so I would not check this.
-Click BURN and hopefully once it is finished it will work!

I will check back later tonight or tomorrow to see if it worked for you of if you have other questions.

I would upload to Walgreens.com or somewhere similar and order a CD from them. Faster and easier than messing with your computer issues.

As long as you have a DVD burner. Just drag and drop the photos into the DVD drive on your computer. The computer will close the session so it can be used on a another computer.

I only have whatever came with the computer (Media Center) and now we have Nero.

Although sending to Walgreens etc, sounds good, I'd like to be able to save alot of my pictures on a cd or dvd and not spend the extra money. A stack of cd or dvd's will be cheaper in the long run.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions above. I will also look into the link about the wizard as well.
