College acceptance letters/e-mails are starting to be delivered. Whose son or daughter has gotten their acceptances so far?
My son was just notified via e-mail this morning that he was accepted to UT Austin. we have been waiting since November to find out. We are beyond excited for him because UT Austin is his first choice and they have one of the top math programs. DS is stoked to finally have it decided. He gambled it all by only applying to two colleges and he got into the one he really wanted to go to! We are so excited!
Who else has gotten acceptence letters so far? |

Congrats to all the seniors!!

My daughter got into all the colleges she applied for except UNC-Chapel Hill. It came down to the college honors programs for UNC Wilmington and University of South Carolina. She just decided on South Carolina because she likes the idea of a big school and they offered a nice scholarship package. |

My son had been accepted at two colleges, one is SCAD! We are waiting to hear back from 4 more as well as scholarships. He has already been told that he has the academic scholarship from both colleges at the highest level $6,000-7,000, but of course, that covers only a fraction of the tuition.

Dd was an early admit at University of the Pacific and has received a Merit Scholarship. She has also heard from Cal Poly Pomona and was invited to apply for their Kellogg Honor Program. Still waiting to hear from the UC and Cal State schools that she applied to as well as Whittier and Lewis and Clark.

My daughter is a College senior and is graduating with a BS in Math in June. She applied to 4 colleges to start her PhD in Math in September and so far was accepted into her second and fourth choice schools, still waiting to hear from the other two.
Both of the schools she has been accepted to have offered full financial packages which includes living expenses so she won't have to take out any loans at all.

My son is a junior, but he'll be doing early decision for his couple of choices sometime this year.
We scoured reviews for all the schools he was interested in and had to knock a few off due to crime, horrendous student reviews, etc. Honestly, I had never even thought of delving into colleges so much in that respect and it was painfully eye opening.
Good luck to everyone that they get their children into great schools they want to be in! |

We're ages away from an answer!
This week we finally go to the University to drop off DD's portfolio for review. We pick it up at the end of the day, and then we will hear by the end of March I think.
I've been ready to kick DD's ass this week. She's put off doing any of the portfolio work, and we have been scrambling this week to find her a farm to go draw some animals. DH is taking her to a friend's this evening.
She doesn't think she has a chance, but when I look at her stuff, I see an acceptance in her future. But hey, I'm her Mom, I'm biased! |

My dd applied to one school, early action, and heard from them before Thanksgiving that she was accepted. She figured that if she didn't get in then she'd go ahead and apply to some others. But applying to one saved her a lot of prep time, saved us a lot of money, and saved her from all the anxiety of her friends who are still waiting. Several of them did apply early also, so they've been relaxed with dd. lol.

My DD goes to USC and loves it! It's been a great experience for her and has turned out to be the best choice. She got into NC State, Chapel Hill, Appalachian, Northeastern Univ in Boston, but picked USC because it was love at first sight.

Thanks Karin - I am sure I will have questions. My daughter is interested in joining a sorority but I was never in one so I don't have a sense of how much it will take away from her studies. I was a little disappointed she didn't get into Chapel Hill because I could see her all the time, but I think she is feeling like that might have been too close, and the tour at USC really convinced her it was right for her. |

We're still waiting on the biggies....Columbia, Georgetown, and NYU. She did regular decision for everything, so it could be as late as April 1 before we know. She has, however, gotten three acceptances: UNM (won't be going there, even with scholarship), University of Arizona (which she really likes and where she got a very generous scholarship and admission to the Honors College), and the University of San Francisco (awaiting financial information from them). Also still waiting to hear from Catholic and University of Maryland.
Whew...I'll be glad when it's over!!

We have to look into that because the deadline to accept in March 9th.

My son only applied to one school, but he heard a while back. He signed his Letter of Intent to run for the school the first week of February.
He'll have an automatic scholarship for his ACT score and a little bit of money for running, but he's still waiting to hear on a departmental scholarship.
He has some friends who are waiting with bated breath! One friend is deferred for his top choice. Another will only be attend college if the money is there. I really have my fingers crossed for that kid; he is brilliant, hard working, and has a good heart.
It is nice not to have to wait and stress over acceptance letters. He already has his dorm deposit in and even a schedule for the fall!

Amy- how did she hear from Brown? They don't send acceptances out until the end of March. Early decision at Brown is binding so she would have to withdraw her applications elsewhere if she got in ED. Or did she get a "likely letter", which although not an official acceptance is essentially considered as good as one. If she did, that is fantastic- congrats to her on that!! Everyone I know is still waiting, presumably until the end of March, to hear anything from Brown. |

I feel for all of you who are still waiting. My son was a senior two years' ago. The school he really wanted to attend said it would mail decision letters no later than April 1st. I checked the mailbox for that letter every day beginning in mid-February, but the school did not put the decision letters in the mail until the morning of April 1st. It was a happy ending because he was accepted, but the wait was torture. |

I'll stretch the definition of senior. My dd is a college senior and just got her first grad school acceptance to NYU. It's not her top choice, but at least she knows she will be going to grad school in the fall! Her program is impacted and most grad programs only accept about 15 or so students each year, so she is thrilled. I am proud and excited for her.
Grad school acceptance has been even more exciting for us than the college acceptances because the number accepted is far lower.
Hooray for our kids! | |

Hello Sophikins, She did get a likely letter. She's quite excited, we visited during Easter break last year and she loved the campus.
