I'm out of ideas....we have done craft kits, tshirts and flip flops, sunglasses, candy, and books. this year I feel like I am dragging my feet on this even though we still have a solid 3 weeks until Easter. What does the bunny bring for your kids? Mine are 6, 8, and 10. I need some ideas, please!

My kids are nearly 16 and 12. I've been going the easy route lately and getting boxes from Popcorn Factory. I did it once for Valentine's Day and it was a hit. I've done it for Easter too. Very easy. I might add an Itunes Gift Card too.

When I did my own basket, I would include a DVD sometimes, candy, small toys, bubbles, etc.

DD gets her license on the 29th (assuming she passes), so I'd love to put a car key in there but I doubt that will happen. She would flip!

The bunny brings some large wrapped presents like Star Wars Lego sets, a basket with smaller toys (like action figures), and leaves a few dozen eggs in the backyard filled with candy and money.

It's sort of a mini Santa haul

I admit, my kids get candy. DD's food allergies limit the selection of treats we can buy at the store so a few times a year, I order a batch of nut-free goodies for all 3 kids. Easter is one of those times (Christmas and Halloween are the others). We've never given regular gifts at Easter (or any other holiday, aside from Christmas and birthdays).

Oh crap. Is Easter a gift giving holiday now too? I've never put much but candy in a basket, and maybe a stuffed animal or some playdoh or something. Lego sets? Way out of my league.

The idea of some cute summer stuff sounds like fun, though.

Mine gets a few treats (last year it was bunny shaped marshmallows & fruit snacks) and a couple little toys like new box of crayons & coloring book and an action figure type toy. We also do an Easter egg hunt with extended family and at church.

Some good ideas listed here. Truthfully, I am trying to cut back because it seems like so much of it goes untouched. (I bought them doodle journals for Valentines Day that they have not used yet.) I think I will do a Claire's gift card, a pair of sunglasses, and candy. I have to buy them flip flops, but I don't know the sizes so we'll do some shopping when we're out for break anyway.

It always has been in my family. We always got presents from the bunny and grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc.

Now that I have kids I do it with them, too.

Mostly I just like buying toys I also give the kids presents for Valentines, Halloween, first day of school, tooth fairy, pretty much any excuse I just think it's fun.

Strangely I despise buying gifts for people other than my kids, though.

One idea my DD has enjoyed even now that sheis a teen; there is a trail of candy down the stairs to her basket. This obviously wouldn't work if you have pets!

In her basket is usually a small stuffed animal, webkins when she was younger. Now it is usually a pokemon. She also receives a spring set of pjs and a large chocolate item.

My kids are teens so I give money or gift cards, their favorite candy, and then maybe an item they might need like ear buds, socks, etc. I did get my oldest a portable charger for her phone.

For us, the Easter basket is similar to the Christmas stocking - chocolate, little 'toys', etc.

On a related note, Orthodox Easter isn't until May 5th this year.

My kids are a little older so they get dvds, cds, or a book, maybe a tshirt or an outfit, a bit of candy. It's never the same. It's usually a little something that they are into at the moment.

Not much.

They are 9 and 13 and each get a book, one big chocolate bunny, a few caramel eggs and then a bunch of those little solid eggs that are hidden all over the house. Easter has never been a big gift giving holiday to us even when they were smaller.

My DD's typically get a swimsuit, flip flops or sandals, new PJ's or a cute outfit, and a crafty item or two. I might use lipgloss, nail polish or a hairbursh as filler, if I need it. We don't typically put candy in baskets, simply because there is more than enough candy in the eggs. The only candy in the basket is a chocolate bunny.

Lets see- I have one that hates candy and one that just (as in over the last month) goes bonkers over it. So a little candy, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, butterfly nets, new bug boxes, a new big bounce ball (now that they're back in the store)the bunny can't get that in a basket so he leave it out lol and kites.

Our dd (10) is going to get fun spring socks, a new bathing suit, flip flops, a chocolate bunny and some little things that fit in eggs. In years past, we've done bubbles, sidewalk chalk, an umbrella or spring mud boots. We've usually put things in her basket that we would buy her anyways.

I try to buy stuff I would have to buy anyways. The spring and summer stuff. Sunglasses, chalk, beach towels, goggles, a book or DVD if there is one that they want, and lots of candy! My husband and I love to "share" candy with the kids!

I did fruit baskets for my kids when they were young. I'd go to different ethnic markets and buy whatever I could find that looked new and unusual. As they tasted and discovered favorites among the more expensive imported items, I used the holiday as an excuse to buy them some of those favorites. They loved looking up the various fruits and finding out how they were grown and eaten. Of course, every basket included a chocolate bunny, so they could bite the ears off. Usually, the ears were the only part they ate as they preferred to pig out on the fruit.

As they got older, they went to the market with me and helped choose the baskets' contents, but I always had a surprise or two. I also varied the type of container I used as a basket, though it had to be something with a strap that could hold eggs for the annual Easter egg hunt we did with their cousins.

When they reached 15, I started getting them kitchen stuff, in a kitchen container, with just the bunny and a small amount of weird fruits. Of course, by then we had so many wonderful ethnic markets that we were regularly visiting, so there wasn't as many new and untried fruits available. Since they were now the egg hiders, rather than the finders, the "baskets" no longer had to have straps and hold eggs.

Both kids have received over the years nice, high quality items for them to use in their own kitchens. Good knives, utensils, pot holders, etc, have all found their way into baskets made of bowls, pots, and reusable bags. Most of DD's items have been breast cancer pink, to both support the cause and make them easy to identify as hers. She has enjoyed using her items and I have enjoyed her experimenting using her stuff rather than mine. As you can imagine, she is more careful with her things than she is with mom's. LOL

I got off the bunny train. My kids get one chocolate egg (it is large though) and it is nestled on jelly beans. That and their Easter church outfit is it. I just decided that Easter wasn't going to be some circus in our household, and that it would be about church first, come home to the egg hunt and a family dinner.

Little stuff - cute socks, flip flops, cutesy jewelry, sometimes a t-shirt. I limit the candy and usually fill most of the plastic eggs (which we hide) with homemade mini-muffins. The kids love finding the eggs and eating breakfast as they go along.

When my kids were little, we almost always did new swimsuits and beach towels - stuff they'd be getting any way, but things that looked forward to sun and fun

I also would mix up what would serve as their "basket" - one year we did new bike helmets as the baskets. Again, stuff I had to buy any way!

Now that they are older, they usually just get an itunes card and a chocolate bunny. LOL.

Pretty much the same things I got when I was a kid:

peeps
marshmallow eggs
malted milk eggs
reece's peanut butter eggs
They used to get a chocolate cross but they never ever ate it
jelly beans

They also get a present; usually a DVD that just came out. This year one is getting Wreck it Ralph and the other will get Silver linings playbook if it comes out in time.

I always got a gift in my basket, but it was just one small gift tht fit in the basket; nothing very big.

We usually just do little toys or a coloring book and some candy.

My dad goes all out for the grandkids and usually gets them each one of those huge baskets filled with toys or he buys them a TON of candy and a couple of toys each. Granddad really goes crazy for grand-girls.

A book or 2.

Outdoor toys/items.

Consumables crafty stuff, like paper pads, play-doh, etc.

A toothbrush.

Some candy, but not too much, because we host an egg hunt each year and there's a ton of candy to be found there.

A spring shirt, outfit, PJs, etc.

Some little toy....this year both kids are getting a mini Lego set

I don't get big into gifts for Easter. They get one basket of moderate size and that's enough.

I always get them a few things from the Target dollar section. This still works for my 10-year old DD, but not so much for my 14-year old DS. I've already purchased her a couple of pairs of socks and a cute notepad and pen, all from the dollar section. She'll also get an Easter treat. DS will get an iTunes gift card, plus a treat. I don't spend much money at all on them for Easter- maybe $10-$15 each.

he really doesn't eat candy (good thing, right?)

The Easter Bunny (and St Nick) always brought a new toothbrush. I always also got whatever the year's M&M tube was (I collected the green ones). I don't really remember much else specifically, beyond candy. Although as we got older, one of the last "baskets" I remember was the toothbrush, the M&M tube, and a $20 wrapped around the M&MS.

If you're planning any trips this summer, how about a selection of travel toiletries or a travel kit? Scratch off lottery tickets would also be fun.

We usually place a few of their "colored" eggs from us decorating them in the basket and leave the baskets on the table the night before Easter. Then in the morning, they wake to find a chocolate bunny of some kind, some of their favorite candy (all three have different preferences), and sometimes a movie or video game they have wanted and another small gift. The boys are teens so they have gotten $10 ITunes cards before and my daughter(7 yrs old) usually a small stuffed animal or something along that line. We have in the past given things like basketballs, hotwheels, babydolls etc. It's usually age appropriate and whatever they are into at the time.

I love filling Easter baskets just like I love filling Christmas stockings

My kids are older now, but I also used to vary the basket so it was something they could use later. I give one larger item, like a dvd, or gift cards now. A chocolate bunny, socks or maybe a t-shirt or shorts. It always varies Just whatever I'm in the mood for or see when I'm out.

Mine are grown now, so they get different stuff, but when they were little, their baskets always had:

Matchbox cars
toothbrush
book
dvd
favorite candy
sidewalk chalk
bubbles
crayons
cards (pokemon, baseball, whatever they were into at the time)

As they got older, they got:

toiletries
playing cards
gift cards
still books

It looks like you have little girls. You could do some jewelry, dress up items, hair accessories, nail polish, lots of cute little things.
