Not a problem of mine, personally.

I was just curious because of a post on the other bed thread.

We got ds a double bed when he was 13, so he could stretch out. He's 6'2" and 17 now.

The foot board is low, so his big feet can hang over the edge.

We live in an old house with small bedrooms.

The rule in our house is NO FOOTBOARDS! Dh pretty much set that rule at the start of out relationship. He's almost 6'4", and his feet hang off the end of our queen bed unless he's curled up on his side.

We got ds a full bed last year. Currently he is 14 and 6'1" or so, and his feet hang off the bed unless he sleeps diagonally.

So basically, feet hang off the end, and footboards are evil!

When DH lived at home, his parents bought him an extra-long bed. I think it was called a long john? He's 6 ft 4. Now we have an antique bed with a low footboard, and once we have both the boxspring and mattress on the bedframe, the top surface of the bed is flush with the top of the footboard, so his feet can hang off.

Friend's DS is currently in a twin XL, looking at custom made mattress now that he's 6'8" and still growing.

While I realize many tall teens do fine in a twin bed (someone on the other thread mentioned dorms and military barracks) my gentle giant is a restless sleeper and does better sprawled across the bed. He was actually falling out of his twin bed, as well as waking up cramped up because he slept like a parentheses so he didn't hang over the end.

We were getting a new bed anyway, so gave him our very old queen bed, thinking if he didn't mind how much room it took up in the bedroom we'd replace with a new queen mattress. He LOVES our old bed, says it's very comfy for him, and hasn't fallen out once lol but that kid is all.over.the mattress.

Our 6'5" guy sleeps in a queen bed with no footboard.

Our poor 6'2" guy sleeps in a twin size bed, but he's going to need a bigger bed soon.

We could not put a Queen size or larger in our tall son's room because of the layout of the place, but a Twin XL fit the bill perfectly.

My DH is 6'8" and we have a not footboard rule in our house too. His feet hang off the end of our queen size bed, but he is used to that now. He just kicks out the sheets that I tuck in :/

We have 3 children, and fully expect that they will be very tall also. We will probably get Twin XL when necessary. Not sure yet though, as they are still fairly young.

I remember my sister (6'2.5" ) had an extension on her bed growing up--my dad was able to stretch the frame, somehow, and they got a slab of foam to put at the foot of the mattress. If I remember right they got some extra-long sheets from somewhere. (My brother is just as tall, but I think maybe he just slept with his feet hanging off the end?)

For my 6', 14 yr old DD, a double bed and my sincere sympathies, "sorry kid, you're tall, you will always be tall and your feet will likely always hang over the end," ((((hugs)))), "just wait until you visit Europe."

My just turned, 12 yr. old son is 6' and has a queen bed and totally does not fit in it. He just asked me the other day what he is going to do for a bed in the future because his Dr. told us he will be over 6'5. I saw on HGTV the other day that there is a company that makes custom beds for basketball players!! I did not know there was such a thing! We might be doing that when he gets to high school!

All of our kids have queen-sized beds. We have Cal King. DH wanted the extra length.

6' DS is still growing and in a twin bed.
I offered to big him a bigger bed because his is just too short.
He refused because he doesn't want to give up the space in his room
He'll be getting an extra long mattress instead

Our son stopped at 6' 10" and he can sleep in a bent knee position in a queen or across the bed on the diagonal. He prefers that to a twin (he's never actually had a twin, but has slept on them at camp) or full bed.

I got the XL Twins for my boys, but they just aren't long or wide enough anymore so am currently looking. My stepdad can build great furniture and said he can build bed frames..... but then custom mattresses $$$???

My ex hubby who is 6'8" had a queen and a twin on the floor as a bachelor. When we married we had a king with no footboard. My son is not as tall at 6'2" sleeps in a Cal King with no footboard.

My brother is 6'3" and I think all he and I ever had growing up were twin beds. Unsurprisingly, he has a CA King now.
