I googled, but cannot find an answer to this. Several people online have had this question, but no one has answered it that I can see.

So, has this happened to anyone here? I plug in her ipod, open itunes, click on "on this device," or whatever it's exactly called, and then I'm supposed to click on "add to," which is a button in the top right corner. It isn't there.

Anybody know why that button isn't there, and how to fix this?

I hate iTunes.

TIA!

I hate iTunes too! It has gotten so user UNfriendly!

Sorry, I have no advice because I have no clue either!

How old is the iPod? My friend updated to iTunes 11 and found that he could no longer add new music to his old (first generation) iPod Nano.

I hate the new iTunes layout. Its fine if you are playing music on your computer, but it is a pain when linking my iPod. I just updated iTunes to 11.0.2 and it works with my 2nd gen iPod Touch.

Open iTunes and link your iPod. If you are looking at the library, there should be a button on the upper right corner (next to the iTunes Store button and under the search library) that has an iPod icon and says "iPod." Click it (not the arrow) and it should open to your iPod.

You might need the 11.0.2 update for the button. It wasn't there before I updated. Hope this helps!

I always hate every upgrade and I bet I'll hate this one too. In the meantime, I am not upgrading until I absolutely have to (probably will have to when ds gets an ipod 5th gen for his birthday).

I hate the new format too. I had a hard time figuring out how to move new files into playlists. Then I figured it out & then the next time I logged in I had to figure it out all over again. It's not intuitive at all.

I wish they would bring back the last format. Is there a way to go back to the previous version once you've downloaded the upgrade?

It's actually an old iPhone 3G that I gave my dd, but it has no phone service, so it's just an ipod now.

When I click the ipod button in the upper right corner, it opens the ipod, but I still don't have the "add to" button to add new music to it.

I still hate iTunes.

I don't know that answer because I haven't update yet. But you might want to check out the forums at ilounge. I can usually find answers to any ipod/itunes questions there. They are very helpful!

You can reinstall v10. Download it here. I've downgraded in the past and now I just keep the exe file on my HD in case I need to reinstall.

You know you can make it like the last format by going up to "View" and select "View Sidebar".

I also don't know about this add music thing. I've always just dragged and dropped the music from the list into specific playlists on the sidebar. Then I sync it. When you plug the pod in, in the sidebar you highlight your ipod. Then there are tabs to choose from. Under music, you just choose the playlists you want to sync to the pod.

I've never seen the add music either. I do the drag and drop also.

Thanks for the 'view sidebar' tip!
I was also annoyed by the new layout and having that really helps, I had worked out the 'add to' but I didn't like it.
Maybe I was still doing it wrong but when I went to add music to my iPad it seemed I had to create a playlist.
I much prefer the drag and drop.

Thank you so much for this tip!

I consider myself tech savvy and had to of sat there for 10 minutes trying to figure out where to add music to your ipod/iphone. I normally don't mind the updates but this one is drastic!

Ok, I just tried to install the 'old' itunes (I HATE the new one)

it tells me. You can't install it cause you already have a newer one.

I'm not very tech savvy.

Another one thanking Gina for the view sidebar tip. My DH certainly grumbled when I had updated itunes. I like being able to drag and drop into various playlists. Much more user friendly than the new format.
