Someone broke into my account and tried to order 3 playstation bundles. Luckily all 3 were canceled by Walmart and it doesn't appear that my cc account has any other attempted charges but since the person's snail mail address is on the order, I would love for something to be done. I'm sure it won't be though but I want to call, rather than email. I have changed my password and removed all of my credit cards from the walmart site and when I get a chance, will do the same for other stores.

How annoying. Why can't people just get a damn job.

eta: There was a pending charge for a company called anki today. Turns out that this site has been receiving a lot of donations from stolen card numbers (possibly to test the numbers to see if they work). So watch for this on your cards-apparently someone has stolen a bunch.

I have quite a few learing disabilitys that effect my spelling a grammer. I do know my grammer and spelling suck. I have been working on this problem all my adult life.

Um, I just had the same thing on Friday. I don't know if they got my account number but Capital One closed down that card number, overnighted me a new one (they love me as a customer). They hacked my walmart account and Cap One called them and we had a telecon about it. Walmart closed down my account. The idiots didn't even change the mailing address! It isn't being shipped. Even if they only hacked your walmart account, you need to cancel your card. It is likely they have the number.

Thank you. I did get an email from them after I changed my password and it had a number for billing. I called and they have closed my walmart account. I'll also cancel my credit card too, just in case.

I was going to wait a few days and see what happened with my cc. Well, I saw a fraudulent pending charge on it today from anki so I've canceled my card. What a pain in the butt.

I also requested a non-blink card since I've seen on tv that people can use some kind of device to get the numbers of these cards without ever having the card in hand.

From now on I'm not storing my card at any site again. It's nice not having to reenter it but I'm sick of going through this (this will be about the 5th or 6th time for me).

This happened a year or so ago but the person changed the email account so I couldn't even get to my account and it took Walmart a while to figure out which account was mine. They had to cancel the orders and close my account and them I had to order a new cc as well. Wasn't worth the risk. I will not ever open an account with them again. I also no longer add my cc to accounts I would rather spend a few extra minutes each time I order than worry about getting hacked.

They changed my email address on the account too (after placing an order for a pay as you go phone & minutes for it).

Part of what annoyed me so much is because I was never comfortable having my credit card saved out there (I ordered pictures online with WM) but I could never find a place where you could select for it to *not* save the card info.

YES!!!!!

I'm pretty sure that I've got a number for them! It took me weeks (really, months) to track it down when I was a victim of identity theft in December. Let me go get my file and look for it.

Looks like the number I used was 1-800-966-6546 and select the Billing Dept option.

I was alerted to my identity theft when walmart.com sent me an email to confirm my order of a $900 camera body and to let me know it was shipping...to an address in a city a couple of hours away. The good news (for me, at least) was that it was charged to someone else's (a third person's) AMEX card. (We don't even have an AMEX card)

The confirmation email provided a FedEx tracking number, and after going to FE's website, I found that the camera would be delivered in two days. After a call to WM, I was able to get the shipment stopped in transit and the camera was returned to WM's warehouse.

Fortunately, we have a credit monitoring company in place and they were able to access my credit info and determine that none of my financial info or other accounts were compromised--they now alert me any time ANYTHING shows up regarding my credit (even if we've initiated the inquiries or our lenders have) .

They advised me to report the ID theft to my local police department, which I did. I was able to track the alleged thief's location AND their FB page (which showed the same location) and also found that they had added three more people's AMEX cards to my account--these were from across the country! The credit monitoring company also found that this same person had opened several cell phone accounts in various names from across the county in recent months, all using his/her address. Apparently they're stealing identities nationwide.

My local police were very interested in pursuing the case, based on the amount of info we were able to obtain and the scope of the thefts; but because the thief is in another jurisdiction, local PD had to refer it to that city's PD--who closed my case because they don't have the manpower to look into it. So NOTHING happens. It's BEYOND FRUSTRATING!!!

***If any of you who've experienced this *happen* to track your thief to San Jose, CA and would like to compare notes--let me know!

ETA: 4/18/13 the number above IS the corrected number!!!

I had ordered pics too, years ago. I didn't even know I still had that WM account.

And trust me, apparently there is NO WAY to close out the account. I went round and round with WM about this--they have frozen my account and even I can't get into it anymore. But they don't/won't close the account. They said it was so they could "track" it.

I received an email from WM.com last Wednesday morning stating info had been changed. Did I authorize it. They gave a number to call in the email. There had been a $66 charge to my DS debit card. They stopped it before it even went through. So the card got cancelled but also WM closed our accnt. So if we ever order through them again, we have to set up a new accnt. DS is at college and it is tuff for a student to not have their card. He hates working with cash. Ahhhh, the younger generation.

Oh, and WM.com told me that one of the "safeguards" they have in place to "protect" your account is that "confirmation of your order" email they send you--they figure if YOU didn't place the order, that you'll let them know.

This was the ship to address for the fraudulent orders on my acct:
0-0.0. 3422 Mira Vista cir
San Jose, CA 95132

eta: I found a name (Mike Nguyen) for that address. No idea if this person is the would-be thief or not. They won't do anything about it since the orders didn't go through.

Gale, WM won't do anything, but your local PD might. I was advised by my credit monitoring agency to report it to my PD, as my name and account were used (stolen) even though I didn't suffer monetary loss. My local police would have pursued it if they could have!

And the info you shared is not identical to my thief's, but it does make me wonder!

You need to cancel your card ASAP & get a new one or this will contuine to happen!!

This has happened to me someone got a hold of my debit card Information and made two purchases 1 for sears for $504 and one for something google ad for $1.00 ( a transaction to see if their are available funds) i called my bank Immedtily and canceled my card I also started a complaint to get my money back from the bank.. I then called sears to let them know because even though my bank would dispute it by the time that would have happened those assholes (excuse my mouth) that charged my card up would have gotten the items they have ordered! So sears put a stop to it Immedtily and refunded my card within a day they were AWESOME about it.. A lot better and faster then the bank was IMO ! Needless to say I asked the rep. If I could have the name and address of the person that stole my money but he wouldn't release that information to me.. But he did file a police report so I was happy about that!

Honestly I cant blame the sears rep. For not giving me the person info.. Because if he had I would have hunted that jerk down and made them pay! I was beyond furious that something like this had happened to me & even if the cops didnt catch who did it atleast I know karma will get them!! Unbelievable how far people will go to steal things!! I'm with you GET A FREAKIN JOB!!

The calling card/gift card $ was was emailed directly to that person. SO frustrating! GET A J O B!! They told me to always delete your card information after making any online purchase to ANY website to be safe. But you are never safe as far as I'm concerned.

That SUCKS! I wonder if there was no confirmation email because it wasn't merchandise shipping? (not that that's OK) . My confirmation email included the carrier info, tracking info and delivery date that the e-card wouldn't have BUT you'd think they would still confirm the order with you.

I think I'd contact the WM billing department and ask them about it. (I got NOWHERE with their Customer Service)

Happened to me too. I got the email in the middle of the night. Someone bought a new laptop in New Jersey (I'm in NC). I emailed walmart...called my bank first thing in the morning. They had already flagged the purchased and had a hold on it. Had two emails from walmart in the morning canceling the order. My bank issued a new card but I think it was my walmart account that was hacked. I took off my numbers and changed my acct info. It was a total pain...and scary. LOVE my local bank though for flagging the purchase immediately!

They said it happens ALOT with walmart.com

My days of shopping there are over!

Even if the transaction has been halted, surely the very fact people are making orders with other people's credit cards, without permission, makes it fraud? Why on earth aren't the Police doing anything abut it?

A few years back my citibank online account was hacked into (the hacker changed the address, phone and everything on it) and I was told by citibank to file a local police report. The police here didn't even want to take my report. They said there wouldn't be anything done anyway and they had never heard of anyone filing a report for identity theft. I finally told them to do it so that my credit card company would reverse the charges (which wasn't true-they were reversing them anyway) and they very grudgingly did it.

Even if the transaction has been halted, surely the very fact people are making orders with other people's credit cards, without permission, makes it fraud? Why on earth aren't the Police doing anything abut it?
That's my opinion too. I've had this happen a lot, and every time, the cc company lets me know that there isn't anything they can do, even when I have the alleged thief's name or address. It's frustrating. I just chalk it up to the cost of using credit cards and watch my accounts carefully. But this is why I will never have a debit card if I can avoid it.

Funny, I had my debit card hacked a few weeks ago and the last place I had used it was at Wal-Mart! Apparently they need a better security system. I work in an office with 6 people and 3 of us have had our cards hacked in the last few months and we can't find any common links.

I was told I could close my on-line account with them and they told me it was closed and I could open another one at a later date - yea that won't be happening. They didn't try and use my card anyplace else but I cancelled it as soon as I found out it had been hacked.

I had another funny hack. Someone hacked my netflix account and was streaming bad shows LOL. I wouldn't have noticed but they deleted the series I was watching from the queue. That was a real pain to change we had to have them disconnect all the devices from the account and then wait about 8 hours and then go through the setup on all the devices. Of course we changed our password as well but it didn't stop them from using our account until we disconnected and reconnected. I now check my account regularly. They didn't get a CC number or anything but it was still a bad feeling that someone was using my account.

I would suggest that everyone go into google and google their email address and see if you can find any passwords associated with it. It didn't take long at all to find my email and a old password - the one I used for netflix - this is no longer used for anything now.

OMG - I am amazed at all of this! It just happened to ME on Friday!! The only Wal Mart account I had was for uploading photos. I was on vacation all last week, not sitting in front of a computer for 9 hours a day like I usually do. I pay all of my bills on-line so I check my Yahoo account usually twice a day. Didn't get to it till late on Saturday night. Got the "thank you for your Wal-Mart.com order" - for an April 2013 coin set and $140 worth of calling cards!! There was also an e-mail from Wal-Mart notifying me that my account info had been changed...if you made the changes, disregard, blah, blah, blah, if not, call this number. Called both numbers and naturally business hours were over! So I replied to BOTH e-mails in stern ALL CAPS (I swear I was banging on this keyboard!) that I did not change my information, I did not place this order, I wanted my account cancelled ASAP.

Didn't take too long to received a return reply that the transaction had been cancelled and my account had been cancelled. I don't have any credit cards - I use my debit card. The charges never appeared on my account.

I had my credit union account hacked once before - there were three charges made to a company in WA state, MT and somewhere in England! All totaled, they were under $50.00 and my credit union reimbursed me. I figured it was such a small amount to see if I noticed, then they were gonna hit me for something huge! Uh yeah, I keep a tight watch on my account. I check it every morning and every evening.

This just happened to me too! I remembered this thread, so I searched it to find the phone number to call.

Looks like the number I used was 1-800-966-6541 and select the Billing Dept option.

This struck me as funny...the number in the quote above is NOT the right number...it is for a s@x phone line!!! The correct number is 6546! I thought it was funny, and it brought some humor to the situation.

It took about half an hour to contact my CC company and walmart.com (with the correct phone number) to get it taken care of. What made me the most mad was that I read this thread, thought I should go in and delete my CC info, but got distracted and forgot about it. If I had done that, I wouldn't have had to cancel my CC today.

I got one of these this week! Someone hacked my account and ordered a $200 email gift card. I couldn't cancel the order because it was pretty much instantaneous. I called my cc company and the charge had not hit so I cancelled the card. I changed my password at MW and deleted my cc. Walmart customer service was not very helpful...

This struck me as funny...the number in the quote above is NOT the right number...it is for a s@x phone line!!! The correct number is 6546! I thought it was funny, and it brought some humor to the situation.
OMG! I'm SO SORRY!!! I can assure you that is NOT what I called...although I might have gotten more satisfaction if I had! LOL!

I'll fix my earlier post right now.

ETA: I just went and looked at my file and I actually had the right number written down, the 6546 number. I must have mis-typed when I posted. What a crazy typo THAT was!
