Are you a Macklemore fan? If so, watch this. Worth the 14 minutes.

DESK CONCERT

I loved this so am sharing with you guys.
If you're a fan, you'll like it too.

So many reasons why I liked it and posted to my FB:

I love so many things about this. I'm always late to the party, but I am enthusiastic once I arrive!!
1. He is performing at NPR. In front of a desk.
2. The dude in the red pants
3. The office staff having a much better day than anyone else they know.
4. Ryan Lewis bouncing on the desk during Thrift Shop.
5. Macklemore's long and lanky style.
6. And the way he moves. Yup.
7. Three for the price of one. And #1 makes me cry real tears. Every time.
8. It's 14 minutes well spent.

Not to mention--he's a local boy!

My 8yo son loves Macklemore. Luckily they play the modified versions on the TV. He knows the 'real' words, but luckily he sings the G rated version "This is *really* awesome!"

When Same Love first came out, I asked DS whether he knew the meaning of the song. He had no idea. It was a great conversation starter, that's for sure. I love these words:

I might not be the same, but that's not important
No freedom till we're equal, damn right I support it

Love me some Macklemore & Ryan Lewis!

TFS!

ETA: I totally bought my son a 'onesie' on the back of that song (Thrift Shop)! He wears it all the time.

That was pretty awesome. And I wouldn't have called myself a fan at all. But that guy's got some pretty serious music in him.

Last week my 13 year old dd went to a leadership conference for school at key arena in Seattle. As a surprise for them, Macklemore showed up and sang two songs for them. he is pretty cool.

Paget--YES! I heard he was the big surprise performer. I love that he did that and the kids just lost their minds.

Oh my, and traffic that day. I've never seen so many school busses in my life!

Thanks for sharing! I didn't realize how dirty Thrift Shop was until I listened just now. I only heard it on the radio before. Good thing I didn't download it yet for the kids. I really liked Same Love, I hadn't heard that one yet. He is very talented.

Just today, I looked up "Thrift Shop" online. I loved it. I made my husband listen to it on the way home from work, and reminded him that I listened to Flo Rida's "Whistle" last fall when he liked it. And that was just a song about -- well, y'all probably know what it was about. I love the *idea* of "Thrift Shop." I love the *idea* that a rapper is encouraging people to be less materialistic.

And furthermore, I listen to NPR on the way to work every morning, and on the way home every afternoon. "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered" are constant companions. DH and I volunteer for the NPR fund drives every fall and spring. We're NPR nutjobs.

But I don't, as a rule, listen to the Tiny Desk Concerts. I just don't have time.

So when your link showed up, and it was that same guy who was singing about the joys of bargains in the thrift shop -- well, I had to click.

I bawled. What a beautiful song. What a lovely world this might be. I wish there were more Macklemores.

Thank you so much for sharing.

My DS got to go to a private Macklemore concert last month and at first I was not thrilled. However, when I learned about his anti-drug message, as well as his anti-materialism message and other political views, I was actually really excited. Some of his friends got to meet Macklemore and Ryan Lewis backstage, which was so cool. The last rap concert DS went to was Tyga and (gag) Chris Brown -- Macklemore is definitely my preference for a musical role model!

My son is 19 and introduced me to Macklemore several years ago. I really enjoy his music. My son has seen him in concert several time and has shared with me that the atmosphere is very positive. He was at one of the concerts and a fight broke out. Macklemore stopped the show and told the people involved in the fight to leave. He would not resume performing until the people left. He spoke directly to them about how inappropriate their behavior was and that was not welcome at his shows. The guy is a great artist and a great influence. Rumor is he will be performing at the Minnesota State Fair this August. If so, we are going to go as a family and see him. It will be the first concert for my 11 year old and my 15 year old. Keeping my fingers crossed he will be performing here in Minnesota

I really like the version of Thrift Shop they did on SNL where they sing "this is, this is awesome."

My daughter went to school with Ryan Lewis so has known him for a long time. Her boyfriend knew Macklemore from before they even met so their individual connections to these two is funny but not too unusual because of they stay heavily rooted in Seattle. They've been to several private house parties with them where they performed. I imagine how fun that must have been but you know, "your mom is here" would never fly
