I June/July, after I have hit my goal weight, DH and I are going to have some professional photos taken by a friend for my birthday. Some of the photos will be Mad Men inspired.

What do you think of this dress?

Does it fit the bill? If not, do you all have any suggestions? I've done a Google search and found a few, but my spending limit is $100 of less. Much less ($50ish) would be FABULOUS!

Thanks for any ideas you might have!

There are lots of them on the ModCloth web site:

1960s dresses

I ordered a few times from ModCloth and was always satisfied! If you read all the reviews carefully, you'll know exactly what size to order!

Banana Republic has a Mad Men collection. Their 2013 line is gorgeous.

Congrats on hitting your goal!

Also popped in to suggest banana. Maybe you can find a coupon. The dress is 109.

Ann Taylor has sheath type dresses usually and I think some are on sale.

If you sew there are lots of Mad Men inspired patterns around. Let me know and I can hunt some out for you.

Every Wednesday banana has 40% off one item - they have some great dresses. Boden does too but they are more than 100

How FUN will that be ????
Last year I checked thrift stores and EBAY----I just checked, and there are TONS of cute dresses on EbaY...some as low as $19.00.

Here's a GORGEOUS one that's currently got 12 bids and is only $29.00!!! (I'd LOVE to wear this!!! )

"Mad Men" style dress

reminds me of a dress my Mom wore!

Try also Eshakti . Custom fitted dresses you can details on to your liking. I absolutely adore them and some of what they have been carrying is very very retro.

LOVE modcloth! I have their "sleek it out" black dress which is perfect for your theme! and it's not *too* retro that you couldn't wear it out for other events either. also, have and love the 'director's cut' one, but it looks like that's not available anymore. I have so many of their retro style dresses, the free return shipping is great but I've hardly ever had to use it!

I saw some VERY CUTE "Mad-Men" esque dresses at Ross yesterday, and they average around $25.00. Some may think "oooh, Ross---cheap stuff".....but honestly, there were several that looked very nice quality and one in particular was GORGEOUS!!! I'd wear it if I had the figure. I wish I had a pik to show you.

Thanks again!

I did look at Ross and found a couple, but I still have 15 lbs to go (Hoping my boobs get smaller in that time. LOL) I will continue to look there during the next few weeks. I LOVE their prices! Modcloth as well, but I will have to try the dresses on, unfortunately.

Sorry hop2. I thought it was weird that this was bumped. Unfortunately, I don't have an update with a pic. I still haven't found the perfect dress and my sweet friend that will be taking the pics just had a baby, so it will probably be another month or so before we are able to get them. But, I will update as soon as we can pull it all together.
