Loc: In the Hinterland

My friend is going to be undergoing a grueling chemotherapy/radiation schedule starting next week. I am putting together a small book of quotes that she can look at while sitting in the chair. She is a woman of great faith and I would like to include some short scripture verses and need suggestions. I would prefer ones that focus on joy and love as those are her two mantras.
I would appreciate any suggestions - thanks in advance.

I know you said joy and love but honestly I've always taken much comfort from James 1:2..
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

I know this doesn't speak to joy and love, as you requested, but these are some of my favorite Scriptures. My "go to" Scripture when I feel overwhelmed with life! Just reminds me the Lord is always there. Sending prayers to your friend and to you as you support her!
II Kings 6:15-17
15 And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, Alas, my master! What shall we do?
16 So he answered, Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them. 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see. Philippians 4:4-9 was my constant companion in times of illness and fear. Hope it's helpful to your friend!

In times of distress, I find the scriptures that promise the Lord's ever presence with me are a great comfort:

Psalm 121:7,8 The Lord will keep you from harm--He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Nightowl, thank you for expressing this concern. My friend and I have had many conversations regarding what is happening to her and she does not feel that God sent this to her in any way. It is just something awful that is happening to her - nothing more than that.
I appreciate every suggestion given.

My two personal FAVORITES!!!
1) I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.---Philippians 4:13
