We are leaving on Wednesday for a 10 day vacation to San Diego. I am trying to get ahead of the game and get most of the packing done today and tomorrow. It seems nearly impossible to get everything together for the five of us without taking too much.

We are flying and trying to get all of us into two suitcases and two carry-ons. I know it can work because we have done it before. I am trying not to overpack and make sure we have enough room to bring home souvenirs. It never fails that we have enough room but end up with a too heavy suitcase and either have to scramble to move things at the airport or suck it up and pay the extra fee.

We only have 25 minutes for plan change in Denver so I want to limit what we carry on. The kids will have backpacks that they are responsible for.

I guess I am just at that part of pre vacation when I start to stress. Looking at my living room with the piles of clothes, toiletries and other stuff is starting to overwhelm me. Once. Get it packed it will be smooth sailing I know. Guess I just needed to vent...back to work!

I too, am peaing instead of packing. It's amazing how much "work" goes into a "vacation."

I know it's too late for this trip, but I have started using Packing Cubes (I get them from Makes packing and unpacking so easy. I chose two for me, one for my husband.

I also start making lists about a month before my trip so I can edit, edit, edit.

The boys are leaving within the half hour to catch a plane to see their grandparents. I stepped back and let them do their own packing only stepping in once to tell my 11-year-old not to pack 8 pairs of socks when the only footwear he's bringing is a pair of sandals. .

Me too!!

My oldest disabled son is off to a camp tomorrow until Friday. Dh will pick him up on Friday and bring him home until Sunday when he will go to a second camp for a week. He adores these camps and has been to both several times. He's so excited

My 17 yr old, 13 yr old and I are heading to London on Tuesday and then Paris for an 8 day holiday.

We get back for a few days and then off for a camping trip

So fun but my to do list is huge. Most of the laundry is done. Ds's stuff is spread in the living room. My stuff all over are bed. Ds#2 stuff all over his room. Dd takes care of her own stuff.

All the tickets are printed, passports together, money exchanged etc.

I have to put together a photography kit tonight.

So much work but it will be fun.

Just packed everything into the car for a week at scout camp for dh, ds, dd & I & I'm exhausted!

In the morning we have the fun task of packing all the equipment into the lorry, then inevitably unpacking it again & pitching camp..

We'll be back for a fortnight, then off to tour Europe for another fortnight & I'm pretty sure we'll have less luggage for that fortnight than we have for scout camp...not sure how that works out?!

Laundry is done now. All the kids have their piles of clothes ready. Final trip to Target after dinner tonight for the necessities that we may have forgotten.

My two girls have had theiR carry ons packed for a week with the stuff to keep them busy - now I need to inspect...

Little by little it is getting done. I just wish I had taken off of work on Tuesday.

I always remind myself as I start to tailspin with pre-vac stress is that I'm not going to a 3rd world country. If I forgot anything, I'll get it there. Very simple.

Try not to worry. I know it's hard but truly, you've got everything you need and if you don't, you'll deal.

Have fun!
