Not a Target credit card it was my Master Card.

My credit card got hacked the other day. I went to Target and a couple other places - someone got into the system at Target and I had 5 charges on it from a place in Brooklyn 3 @ 521. and 2 @ 321.

Glad we have a good system set up but still that's a hell of a lot of money for someone to get and I hope we can get to the bottom of it.

Card has been canceled the bank alerted us so now we have to see what we can do to find out who messed with it.

I am glad the bank caught the activity and cancelled your card. Don't go crazy trying to figure it out. The bad guys are way too smart!

Our Visa just got some fraudulent charges - the charges were $800 at the Apple Online store. I need to sort it out, but unfortunately it is DH's card and I'm just an authorized user (this bank stopped allowing joint account holders in February, and I got added to the account in April after we got married). DH is out of town on a trip, so I'm not sure if it will get sorted out until he gets back.

I wouldn't necessarily think it was Target where it happened (unless you only use the card there? But even then). There are so many ways credit card numbers can be stolen - card skimmers at gas stations or other places you swipe your card, via computer malware, getting into a corporate system as you said (pretty rare though), etc.

Glad your bank caught it and you shouldn't have any liability. Pain to deal with though! One of the reasons I'm hesitant to report it before DH gets back is the rental car he is using is guaranteed on that card. He can settle up using debit when he returns it, but I'm just slightly concerned about how that might work... and I don't think the bank is going to talk to me as an authorized user.

It really could be a coincidence that you shopped at Target and that it was also used at Target. Someone could have stolen your number months ago from someplace else you used your card and just now gotten around to using it (or more likely just sold it to someone to use.)

I got hacked this week too. Someone placed an order at and it was through my bank debit card! I did some investigating and it appears that Best Buy's records were hacked. It's such a pain, fortunately my bank is awesome and I already have my $$ back!
