My sister-in-law is a vegan (has been for about a year), and I was thinking of getting her a new recipe book for Christmas. Possibly a baking/dessert book with a cookie sheet and some cute measuring spoons, or a more general purpose/meal-oriented one along with some other fun kitchen-y items.

Does anyone have an absolutely fabulous vegan recipe book they could recommend?

Moosewood cookbooks are a standard.

Honestly I would get her a subscription to vegatarian times.

A subscription to VegNews would be awesome. I think they are completely vegan recipes but Vegetarian times uses a lot of milk, butter, eggs, etc.

Some of the cookbooks I really like are by Isa Chandra Moskowitz. I also like The Kind Life diet and Crazy Sexy Kitchen.

Thanks, ladies. I'll look into your suggestions. Vegan cooking is SO not my area of expertise. I appreciate the help.

I'm no longer vegan, just vegetarian, but this cookbook came out this year and I've thought about picking it up.

I'm also vegetarian, but not vegan. However I know a lot of my friends highly recommend How it All Vegan

There's also My Sweet Vegan if you wanted to focus on dessert
