Oh! Almost forgot, my kids HATE it when I sing them awake with, "Good morning to YOU! Good morning to YOU! Weeeeeeee'rrrrre all in our places, with bright, shiny faces!..." Of course, I also hated it when MY mom did it to us!

If mine doesn't wake up by second call, he goes to bed 30 minutes earlier that night...

DD HATES it!

I do this, too. It's most effective when it's sung loud and off-key!

My song is "wake up, wake up rooster, we're all wait in' for your cockadoodledoo"! Maybe I should mix it up for them!

Nothing wakes my DD too easily anymore, now that she is 15. After trying tickling, having a cat lying on her, I use her IPhone and play her music near her ear. Of course, she still tries not to get up, even at full volume. Perkier songs work best, like the new Steven Curtis Chapman CD. Last resort when we absolutely have tried everything else is ice cubes, but that is only after being warned that I am getting the ice cubes. She has even slept with ice cubes melting on her.

I am such a dork, but I am an unabashed morning person. Truly, I wake up all chirpy and happy and ready to greet the day. It could, quite possibly, annoy the non-morning people around me.

Anyway, big dork that I am, I love the morning wake up time. I still wake up the teens in my house even though they are perfectly capable of doing it themselves. I love walking in the dark, fuggy room (stinky boys) and gently waking them up. One of the boys is like me and pops up talking, the other-not so much. It kind of reminds me of when they were little and still liked me. LOL

I have this crazy that idea that being gently woken starts your day off with sweetness and sets up the rest of the day to be happy.

I know, I am weird.

(and for the record, they do wake themselves up at their dads so I know they can do it successfully, and I am not a velcro mom, I just love the mornings. )

I sic the dogs on them. No one can sleep with a 50 lb hound using you as a trampoline and a 15 lb pug giving you mouth-to-mouth

My dad used to get us up on Sunday mornings with music - either Willie Nelson or Edie Gourme singing love songs in Spanish. Loudly.

I let my 5 year old loose in my dd's room. She HATES it! My ds usually wakes up the first time and doesn't care if he's woken up by his brother.

The dog trick is what my mom uses, even to this day when we're visiting and my sister and I are both grown adults!

Me, too My girls have been waking themselves up since 11yo, but I get to wake my 13yo son up and I love it. He's such a giant now and so "adult," and this is the one short sweet time in the day he can be my "little" boy. And his room does smell fuggy!
