I took my dd to see it today! It was FANTASTIC!! I loved it. At first I thought the singing was too much but it really wasn't. Very well done Disney!

The Movie guy on our local channel raved about it. It said it was a well done great animation Disney movie. He was pleasantly surprised. I am sucker for the animation, I hope it's not too cheesy with that much singing.

I had no foreknowledge of the movie, and zero expectations. But my 20yr old dd wanted to see it, and so we did today. SOOOOOOO glad I did! Really, really liked it! The singing was some of the best I've ever heard in a Disney movie.

I just read that Kirsten Bell did all her own singing in this movie. I guess she was classically trained in opera and went to the Tisch School of Musical Theater at NYU! (Of course anything sung by Idina Menzel is amazing too).

11yo DD and I saw this along with two friends (women my age). None of us knew much about the movie but we all liked it a lot. I noticed that the singing was more in the first half of the movie, not so much in the 2nd half.

Would see again.

Blessings,

Yes to all of the above!!! I leaned over to DD (11) during the film and said, "Wouldn't this be a fabulous stage show???" Loved every minute of the music and the animation.

I saw it tonight and also went in not knowing anything about the story. I LOVED it! I loved the Broadway feel of the music and how they were full on musical numbers, not just songs. I've not been as impressed with recent Disney films but this one was so good and I'll gladly see it again.

The only "weird" thing for me was that I was having a hard time with Elsa being blonde because I could hear Idina's voice and my brain wasn't computing the voice with the visual image of the character. Obviously the character makes sense as a blonde but the voice didn't seem to fit/match, especially with how powerful it was.

Other than that, I loved it! I thought Olaf might get annoying, but it was just perfect and truly had me laughing

Glad to hear it is good!

Dd is very upset about how much they have changed the story of "The Snow Queen." Our winter holiday ballet is "The Snow Queen," and is much closer to the real story. Disney should have come watched our ballet to see how to handle this fabulous story without completely changing it!

Anyone in the NJ/PA region should pmail me to come see it.

I really want to see this movie. Is there enough humour that my boys will like it too? They aren't really into princesses (surprise surprise, considering they are 8-13yo) but they liked Tangled, with the funny horse & the sword fighting.

So, will boys like this movie too?

My 12 and 13 year old boys declared it AWESOME. (Now they are a bit immature for their ages, but that's ok with me LOL) They loved it as well as the rest of us (9 year old DD, me and DH and my parents)

Just came back from seeing it -- SO well done. The snow/ice graphics were stunning!

Oh, and I hope everyone stayed for the credits... There's a cute little blurb after them, of course. And make sure you read the disclaimer at the end of the rolling credits.

I behold you riding with my love throughout the town,
And I bite my thumb at you.
Methinks the ducats in my purse are sorely lacking,
And I bite my thumb at you
And at her, too.
Were I but richer, I would be her suitor
Is this not a patent fact?
Though it pains me to the quick, I will salute her still
The aforementioned way: I bite my thumb.

I want Olaf and Sven to have their own movie. I laughed so hard, I had a belly ache during Olaf's funny scene.

I think this is one of Disney's best since I was a child. I grew up during the Princess Revolution as many call it--Ariel (first movie I ever saw in a theater), Jasmine, Belle, Pocahantas...

Movies fell flat after that. New princesses but nothing packed a punch.

This movie is AMAZING.

Idina KILLED Let It Go and the special effects in that scene left me breathless. Will go down next to Part of Your World, Colors of the Wind, A Whole New World, and Beauty and the Beast.

We just saw Frozen and my three girls and I loved it! My husband loved it too which is really funny because he is more into western or war movies. It was cute to hear him talk about Frozen and how much he liked it.

We saw it in 3D - AMAZING! Worth the extra money (and I don't say that oftern).

Can I ask:

My sister posted on fb that my niece hated it, was scared through most of it. (She's 9) So people asked what the hell? She posted that she didn't think there should be murder in disney films.

My mom took my dd so I asked her about it. She looked at me sideways. (My dd is 11) She said something about one character I couldn't really understand and then said, "Well, she may have pushed one guy off a bridge and if you use your imagination..." I guess he may have died..."

So........should frozen be PG-13 or is my sister a quack? LOL

I haven't seen it.....

I don't think it needs to be PG-13. Most all Disney films have murder in it. Off the top of my head Little Mermaid and Lion King come to mind. My kids loved it (dd is 6, ds is 3). My dd is already asking if we could buy it.

She posted that she didn't think there should be murder in disney films.

Off the top of my head:
Scar and Mufasa
Eric and Ursula
Price Phillip and Maleficent
Gaston and the Beast (attempted murder)
The hunter and Bambi's mom

I would imagine that if she feels that way, she has a hard time with a lot of Disney movies.

Personally, I thought the movie was fantastic, as did my 9 year old daughter and 6 year old son.

eta: I'd like to add that I wouldn't really criticize her opinion... While I had no problem with Frozen for my children, there's another thread on the board right now where kids my daughter's age are allowed to read The Hunger Games. We only *just* OK'd Harry Potter for her this summer... We're a long way off from anything like the Hunger Games. So I'm sure I sound just as cuckoo and over-protective to those moms as your sister sounds to me! It takes all kinds.

We all went to see it and everyone loved it. We also enjoyed the fact that the main story was not about a princess finding her prince, but really the story of the sisterly bonds. Nice to see that for a change.

Agreed. And there is Scar trying to kill Simba with the hyenas as his hit men. And the wolves in Beauty and the Beast trying to kill the father and Belle and then ripping up the Beast.

She should also never read the real Grimm's Fairy Tales. Most fairy tales have, at their base, danger the child must navigate. Sometimes the danger comes from a parent dying (usually the mother). Sometimes it comes from the journey the child finds themselves taking and saving themselves or a loved one from a dangerous foe bent on killing them and they must kill to save themselves.
