What did you pay to have a makeup person do your makeup on your wedding day? And did you have a trial run also?

DD has a "gig" for a wedding and considering $25 for the trial where they'll try different "looks" and $50 for the day of the wedding. That's just for the bride. This is her first paid makeup assignment and she's unsure about pricing.

If the makeup person did the bridal party, how much were you charged per person.

I think I paid around $30, but this was 12 years ago.

I would charge more for the trial if she will be doing multiple looks as there is no guarantee they will book her for the actual wedding (unless they have and then it is fine)

That is really reasonable. I can't remember what I paid per person, but I think it was around $90 for my makeup trial plus day of and $30/person for bridesmaids/moms makeup. That includes a 15% discount because we had so many services being done (also got hair done).

Gratuity was on top of that.

I had my makeup done as well as my maid of honor. She was my only attendant. I want to say I was charged $40 per person on the day of. I remember paying close to $200 for my hair, both of our nails, and our make up.

This was in MI.

I paid $500 in 1999 for two makeup artists to do makeup for me and the bridesmaids (4 of us total). That was for two hours of time and included their travel expenses (the wedding was about 45 minutes from their salon). It was also a little more because it was Labor Day weekend.

Will she be going to be bride or will the bride be coming to her? If she's going to the bride, that sounds pretty inexpensive to me. It's her first paid gig, but what is her prior experience? Is she an esthetician?

I think I would do more of a package deal, like $75-100 for the wedding day with a "free" test run. (This is still quite inexpensive, I think, and reasonable for someone starting out.) I would want to avoid having people get a $25 trial that they intend on recreating themselves on the wedding day.

I was going to have a lady do my makeup for my birthday this year and she was going to charge me $100 but then she said she would also have to charge me for parking. I was like really you're going to nickle and dime me? It's a parking meter, the most she'd pay is $1.50. Massage therapists I'm sure don't charge their clients for parking when they visit their home. I cancelled that, I just thought on principle it was ridiculous.

Getting married next month. Hair and makeup for me: $175 + $25 travel fee. Hair and makeup for my MOH: $150. $350 total for two people. Sounds like your DD is giving a great deal to me. I'm skipping the trial run because it's the same price as the day of wedding.

Hair and make-up for me and 4 bridesmaids was $500 in 2010. The stylists travelled to my venue, which was about an hour from where they worked.

My sister just had makeup done for a wedding and it was $50. The makeup artist also did the makeup for the bridesmaids and mother of the bride.

Co-worker getting married in June. Her trial was $50 and if she chooses to have the same person do her makeup on the day it'll be another $50.

I dont recall what the cost was because it was wrapped up in a package (it was a destination wedding) but I can tell you it was HORRIBLE. I hated it and would have loved a trial run before hand. I would definatly suggest a trail run to any bride after what I epxperienced. Glad your DD is thinking of that as part of her package she is offering.

DD has had her makeup done twice in the last 6 months (once for Year 10 formal and once a couple of weeks ago for her Deb ball). Both times it cost approx $90.

(Actually, getting the make up done was "free" if you bought approx $90 worth of make up.)
