I have one but it's more like a sweeper. I want one that I can use without it having to be on the floor. We have a dustbuster but it doesn't pick up worth a darn anymore.

I have the Dyson DC35 Digital Slim and love it. Yes, it's expensive, but it does a great job.

Good luck,
Vicky

Edited to add, I just received an email from Woot.com saying they have these vacuums on sale today for $179.99. They are reconditioned, but it might be worth a try and it comes with a 6 month warranty.

I just bought a Shark cordless upright for the downstairs. All but one room is laminate and it's so much easier to maneuver than my full size upright (which I was tired of schlepping up and down the stairs). Mostly I use it to pick up stray cat food and cat hair. I'm happy with it.
