Does anyone know where I can purchase wood floor for a photo shoot. It does not need to be all that big maybe 4x4 or something similar. Or could I possibly build my own floor?

You could go to Home Depo or Menards to make your own flooring if you want. I have a friend who took a picture of wood and blew it up on paper and she carts that around as her flooring. She said it's way cheaper and not heavy. I am thinking about doing that myself.

@june love- Not a bad idea! Any more suggestions on where to order something that looks like fake floors or how I can make it!

a year or so ago, the bamboo flooring was really popular ( all the peas were doing it.. lol)

you could find it at office supply stores, and LTD was the main source.

also lots and lots of photog blogs, etc have flooring mats available

you can find some great bamboo wood floor photography props at EcosleekShop.com which links to their ebay store.
everything is on sale right now. just bought 2 chocolate walnut colored mats. Planning on placing them side by side to create a very large surface to a hall shot.

I use paper from Michaels. It is actually bulletin board paper but looks realistic. It was cheap too... about $7 or $8 I think. I have had mine for a couple years so not sure they still have it.

This thread was from 2011.

Jinglebell must have enough of that floor by now to cover their whole house, based on all the times they have posted about it on this board.

Has anyone actually ever ordered from this seller before? I am interested in buying one of their floors, but am always a little cautious when it comes to buying things online.

I'd be leery that the only thing jinglebell posts about on this board is that floor. You can probably find something local that would work just as well, if not better - look at office supply stores and home improvement stores.

Thanks for the responses to my question guys! I have checked various places around here but they always seem to only sell it on their websites. I know I sound very "old school", but I would much rather buy it in person.

Scrapmingo, really? I will have to look there. How long ago? And do you remember what section of the store it was in?

Yep, I was pleasantly suprised to find it there! It was about a year ago, they were rolled up in a bin right between the seasonal and the furniture standing up. I almost missed them completely! Hubby was baffled about my excitement over a desk mat I keep meaning to go back and see what they have now!

I also have the paper from Michaels, and just hauled it out for the first time- I wasn't too sure how it would look, but am quite happy with them! This blog post of mine shows them both, though the Christmas tree shop floor isn't overly visible!

Thank you! I will have to go there and look for it. I have rolls and rolls of the Michael's bulletin board "faux wood floor" paper. The only issue with that paper is that I photograph dogs and their nails typically rip it.

PS- Checked out your Blog! Great work!

Thanks for the compliment on the blog!

I have that same concern about the paper with kids in general! I was thinking a plexi glass panel over it, but it would kind of kill the look!

I couldn't find the faux floor mat at the Christas Tree Store so I stopped by Home Depot and purchased slide and lock vinyl wood flooring. The woman said it would be relatively easy to put together. I explained why I wanted it and asked her ifit was possible to take apart once I was done and she said yes. I just hope she was right! Has anyone else ever used this before?

Let me know how it goes- I have wondered about that! My big question is if it would slide around on the floor as the back isn't skidproof?

I have one of those skid-proof mats (don't know the technical name for them) that I am going to try it with.
