I'm a confessed lurker, although I do post here and there. I promise to get better about it!
So, come on and say hello! Anyone struggling with any particular technique, etc.? Anyone need some CC or a fresh eye to look at something? Share it! |

Hey Jaime
I have a thread started asking opinions about a lens...was set to get a 24-105mm 4.0. The only lens I really have (I don't count the kit lens b/c it's bad) is a 50mm 1.8......that I just busted about 10 min ago Boo! So now I have nothing.
But a few people suggested the 24-70 2.8 instead. However, it is over $1000 more than the 24-105mm 4.0. My thought was maybe get that one with a 50mm 1.4...which would still be cheaper than the 24-70 2.8.
Have I confused you yet? Sooo many decisions! I'm just wanting to finally purchase a great all around lens so I can get better with photos of my boys. They are growing too fast and I don't want o miss out! |

Hey Lexi!
Hmmm...I can highly recommend both the 50 1.4 and the 24-70 2.8. I have never used the 24-105 F4. I use the 50 1.4 on a constant basis - from photographing the girls, to weddings, to newborns, to families. It is a great all around lens. The 1.4 will allow you to work better with low light situations.
If you are wanting a zoom and might find yourself in a lot of low light situations with no external flash, then you probably won't want the 24-105 F4. While the 24-70 2.8 is more expensive, you will get a better range with it for different lighting situations. With that being said, I have carried a Sigma 24-70 2.8 for several years and love it. It isn't as tack sharp as the Canon, but, for the money, it has performed very well.
I know I've probably just rambled...but...lol...what I'm trying to say is weigh out your pros and your cons. If you want a lens that works well with low light and are comfortable with the focal length of a 50, stick with it. If you absolutely must have a zoom and you don't have an external flash to compensate for lighting, then go with the 24-70. If either of those things aren't issues for you, go with the 24-105. Have I confused you yet? |

Hi girls! I skim this board at least once a day still! But somehow, I missed your question, Lexi. I don't have oodles of money to spend on lenses either-I leave my 50 1.8 on my camera 90% of the time. However, I rented the 24-70 2.8 for my brother's wedding and it is a fabulous lens!! If I could afford it, it would be at the top of my must buy list! If you are having a lot of trouble deciding, have you considered renting to help with the final decision? That might help you decide! |

I'm here, although I haven't posted in a year or so. I learned a lot from all of the peas about 3 years ago and I do come and look at the board about once a week. I really need to come more often! Here are my 2 girls. The oldest is almost 3 and the youngest will be 1 in a week!

I'm still here... it's my "go-to" place for information. I find boards with too many members and topics to be frustrating. You go in and ask a question and next thing you know it's bumped down to page 3. I like the slower pace here. |

Lurker here! In fact, this is probably my first post in this forum. I often pop in to drool over the amazing photos, and read about who needs what lens and why.
It's all starting to sink in as I'm midway through a college Intro to Photography course. A little intimidating at first, but now I'm shooting fully manual. Lots to learn!
A recent photo I took at a friend's Hallowe'en party.
ETA: Next step will be to figure out how to add photos here from Flickr. Here's the link: photo

I'm still here, I love this forum, but miss the Peas we have lost in the last couple of years.
I shoot with a 50D and my fav lens that I own is a 50mm 1.4, my favorite to rent is the 70-200 2.8, I have a part-time photography business that keeps me plenty busy. I started it up in my 4th year of owning my first DSLR. Cindy

I am still here! I pop on when I need a mental break at my day job I am eye ball deep in marketing and planning out my next six months in my business including launching a boudoir blog to serve clients better (awkward posting a newborn shoot then a boudoir shoot sometimes!
The lens question- I have the Tamron 24-70 2.8 and love it. I love my 50 1.8 too, but like the zoom especially with fast moving kiddos! I am saving my money to get something that can go wider. I am thinking I am going to rent a couple of different lenses to make sure I can find what I want!
Glad to see people popping up- love it here!!
Oh, and I am still working on my new playlist for boudoir sessions that I posted about two weeks back, and would love more suggestions!!!

I check in here every day, actually. But it's been so slow lately...wah. Sometimes I just have time to make a quick drive-by, as life has been busy for me this fall. My mom's house burned on Aug. 2nd, so there has been lots to deal with for that, and I'm the secretary for the PTA at my DD's school (as well as doing the yearbook for the 2nd year..oy.)
But I'm so glad to see renewed interest here lately and a bit more activity.
I just posted some recent photos of DD...it's been so long I had to think for a minute about how to post images!

I'm editing a ton of soccer photos tonight, I'll come back and post some when I'm done. |

Hi, I'm here but I can't really say I'm 'still' here since I've only been on Two Peas for about a year and half.
I started on the general board then found my way to the Photoboard. I post quite often, and try to answer questions if I can from personal experience, but sometimes hesitate to give too much advice since I'm not a professional and pretty much totally self-taught.
I like it here because it seems more relaxed and pleasant than on some of the bigger photo boards but sometimes it is kind of quiet.

I have not been over here in a few years. I popped in today on a whim and read this roll call and decided to say hello.
I have not touched my big camera in a long time. My kids are grown, my business is closed, and I have no one to shoot except my dog. That gets old quickly.
I still am in touch with many of the old timers from the pod on Facebook. I often miss this board from its glory days. Most of my photography knowledge came from 2peas. |

Hi Folks...
Don't know if anyone remembers me, but I pop over once in awhile just to see what's going on. I don't post anymore since everyone I 'knew' has moved on and the board got so darn slow.
I'm still picking up my camera from time to time but do find myself snapping away with my iPhone more and more. I also purchased a new higher end point n shoot which has allowed me to get back to shooting for the sheer joy of capturing just a snapshot without worrying about all the technical stuff all the time.
The grandkids are getting big and growing up. Hannah is 12 and Connor is now 2 1/2. I'm babysitting him full time so this Nana has much less time to spend on the computer.
Here's a recent iPhone pic of each of the kids...linked from facebook so I'm not sure what the quality will be. LOL!

Thank you to all the photography peas who are so willing to help out those of us with less knowledge.

I lurk too. I AM NOT a pro photographer and DO NOT intend to be. BUT I love for my snap shots to be a little better than good! This is my favorite forum and I have missed the activity. It is a great place for advice and suggestions!

I'm still around...I try to keep current with the POTD group, but check the boards (lurking) fairly regularly. |

I'm here. I don't post often because I haven't figured out how to post photos from my iPad, but I try to every now and then.

Add me to the list of lurkers!
I do post but mostly read looking for tips 'n' tricks...always wonderful info!
Having multiple & seasonal hobbies thrown in with working F/T makes it a challenge to do more in photography but I am keeping my gear out & visible as a reminder each time I head out the door.
Most definitely NOT a Pro & don't want to be!
I just love taking photos of what I see.

How exciting to see so many new faces!!! Hopefully this board will get busy again.
I'm here and check in most weeks. I just started a new job last week and it has me overwhelmed to say the least. I still try to post at POTD but lately it's been more miss than hit.
