Thank you so much for choosing me as the winner! I just signed on this morning and seen it - I feel so honored!

The theme for this months portrait challenge is someone we are so thankful for having in our life - because of Thanksgiving this month I thought this would be fitting!

Not sure if that photo above is a portrait but I am so thankful to have her in my life! Even if she's running away from me like she is in this pic!

Good Luck

Here are the Rules: (copied from Oct Challenge)

1. Post your photo to this thread by Nov 30, 2012.

2. Indicate in your post if you want CC or not. If you do want CC, to keep the thread from becoming unmanageable - in case a lot of people play - Please put a link to where the photo can be found and comments can be made in addition to including your photo in this thread. You can use a blog here on 2 peas, your own personal blog, another thread, your choice. But you want people to be able to come here and click to give you cc. Also, if you are asking for CC, be sure to include information like your settings, whether you shot raw, and an SOOC photo and maybe even a pull-back so we can understand your set-up. If you don't want CC, just your photo for us to look at is great.

3. In this thread you can comment on photos, but not cc - don't want to curtail your "Wow" and ooohing and ahhing for each other. Might even get a "how'd you do that" from time to time, which is great because the point is to learn and improve.

4. Please take the time to give CC to those who want it, and respect the wishes of those who are not ready for that, or who just are passing on it this time.

5. On Dec 1 I will post a "winner" along with a pea mail to the winner. That person needs to post the theme for Dec. by the 5th and pick a winner for the month and then that winner will do Dec. Hope that is clear, but it can be perpetual for as long as people are interested in doing this challenge.

6. Only restriction on future assignments is it has to be something everyone can do without regard to lighting equipment. So no assignments calling for a particular lighting effect that requires some special equipment. Us natural lighting folks want to be able to play without investing money when it isn't in the budget.

7. You can play any time you want, skip a month - unless it was your month to pick a theme - jump in and out, whatever. Point is to have fun and to have a reason to get your camera out and work on those portrait skills.

This looks like fun but can someone explain what the different acronyms mean? I looked for a list or explanation of what CC or SOOC means but did not find one.

I don't want to clutter up a thread or mess things up by not understanding

Hi! CC mean Constructive Criticism (at least this is what I have always thought it was! lol) and SOOC means straight out of camera - your photo exactly as it looks before any processing of it. Hope this helps!

I think most photographers I talk to says it is hard to get pictures of your own kids... I am not saying this is all perfect, but I am thankful for them and I at least have a picture of all of them Love this challenge!!!

I think a photography class should be a requirement in all educational programs because it makes you see the world rather than just look at it.

Here is my entry. This is my oldest daughter. I am so Thankful that I DID NOT strangle her when she was 15 and obnoxious! lol

She is now 19, and a sophomore in college. She is not only my babygirl, but now she has become my friend. She is much more grateful and loving toward her family.

She came home this weekend and we played "model" This is her Tyra Banks face! Ha!!

I am so proud of her and love her so much!

Way to go on the restraint! LOL I think they all go through some very obnoxious phase, glad that you both lived to see her come out the other side.

These are all so good - this is so much fun!

nikkikeith7 - so I probably shouldn't strangle my 14yr old son? wait a little while before I make my final decision? lol!

I was exactly like this with my mom at that age too - it wasn't until I was about 20 when I started looking at things differently - I can't imagine life without her!

So Thankful for this little blessing! We've been in and out of the hospital and dr. offices with her for the past week because of an infection, but things are starting to look like they are getting better. We rushed to our nearby Children's Hospital last weekend because she had a low white blood cell count. The longest hour of our lives, thinking our baby may have cancer. Fortunately, it is not cancer, but we are still trying to figure out why... hoping it was just a one time thing. It sure makes up appreciate even the middle of the night playdates she tries to have with us and the constant need to be held.

She is a real little cutey.

I hope you get answers and good news on her health soon.

Not a doctor so should probably shut up but, I have heard that sometimes, if you have been fighting an infection for quite a while, your immune system sometimes gets 'tired' and then you may have a temporary drop in white cell count. I hope it turns out to be something simple and passing like that.

I have many people to be thankful for but I don't have a new portrait of all of them so I will just show you two. My oldest son and my cute little granddaughter Samantha.

I have so many people to be thankful for - my DH, my family, my friends ... but my portrait for this month is going to have be of this guy - Louie. He's 12.5 years old and has been my dog agility partner for a long time now. We had a tough start to agility - it took him a while to decide he liked it - then later, he loved it. He hadn't been running as much lately (I have a younger dog that I have been running), but I had him run again at a recent agility trial and he was amazing. I entered him in another agility trial and again, he did awesome.

I've decided that as long as he's healthy and having fun, he can run. I'm extremely fortunate to have a dog that age who can still step to the agility start line with me.

Here are his runs from last week:
