In the spirit of trying to get the board moving a bit more, I thought people might like to share a few of their favorite recent photos. No rules and no challenge, just something you feel like sharing.

Here are a couple I took recently in Lancaster, PA --

I do. I took a 3 session street photography course through my college that was guided by my current professor. It was fun. I learned a few things and was totally exhausted at the end of each session.
Are all of my pics perfect? Absolutely not. But I learned more about perspective and how to find and take a great photo.
Here's my photostream.

I took my Christmas card photos today and made my Christmas cards. I also made this cover photo collage for Facebook. The design is from The Album Cafe, which I mentioned in another post. The cover photo template is a free download - there are several designs. I found them on Facebook.

* hate uploading pictures through Photobucket or Flickr because of size and resolution. That said ...

(you have no idea of the time it took me to get the correct code to attach these. admittedly I haven't done this in forever - but frustrating considering once upon a time you could directly upload to the photo gallery here on 2Peas and then link over into a thread on the message board - those were the days!!!)

My cute little owls

Favorite part of the day!

I watch my neighbor's little boy one day a week. He falls asleep cuddling me... wish my own kids would do that!

Oh my gosh, those owls are adorable!

Lori-- the light in that grass shot is glorious.

Nicki-- I love the leaf shot. The navy blue background makes such a nice contrast.

Brab-- I love your card! That is too cute!

Dwisker-- I would live to take a street photography course. It looks like you had a great time!

I really like the second shot - the sun rays are a nice detail.

Deb, cool set of pictures. I would love to practice more urban/street photography (I always feel completely lost when I'm in NYC!).

brab - cute card and I love the idea of using the wreath.

Nicki - neat leaf shot. I love the simplicity of the composition and the details of the leaf.

Lori - love the light in that first picture and the colors in the second. Pretty.

ellaroosmomma - love the owls! What a great idea with the nest.

I'm going off of what is in my photobucket account (and I can't remember what I've shared on the board), but these are a few favorites from the year:

Watching Castle Geyser erupt at sunrise (Yellowstone, self portrait):

Sunrise at Alstrom Point overlooking Lake Powell (AZ):

Sunbeam in Lower Antelope Canyon (AZ):

Trying to get a good image that I am proud of for our Christmas cards. DD birthday is in March so I have decided to wait until then to get family photos. We usually do pics at Christmas & her birthday & I spend so much money on pictures. I may take some more pictures when I get the tree up. I found this idea on pinterest.

I always welcome CC

I love this thread.

I'll try to find something to upload tomorrow. In the meantime I'm really enjoying at looking at all the shots already posted. It is so interesting and informative to see the different things that everyone likes to shot and the different styles of the pictures.

coolbeans, I'm glad you posted that. I like to fool around in photoshop sometimes but hesitated to post some of those very altered images here, in case it would be regarded as not pure enough photography. There is often a bit of conflict between those who like to stick close to SOOC images and those that like to produce pictures of things that never were.

Here are a few shots I took recently on a trip to Iceland:

ETA: Sorry about making you scroll across to see the whole pic. My usual photbucket setting seem to work okay on other boards but are too wide for this one for some reason.

I know its not everyones cup of tea. I do like to play though. Don't mean to offend any photographers here.

Gardencat great shots from Iceland. Especially love that last shot.

Thanks Jackie, It was a fun place to visit.

That last shot was taken on the glacier and, while it sort of looks like black rock, it is all actually made of ice that has melted down. My biggest photo challenge on this trip was avoiding people. I was with a group of about 15 and a few minutes before, people were walking back and forth through the ice arch, so I had to wait till everyone headed back to the bus and then take the shot, and sprint back to the bus, not sure how much longer I'll be able to do that. LOL

We have an Amish community down in So. MN (Lanesboro and Harmony, MN). I have seen them out on the streets with their horse and buggies and selling quilts, baskets and jams in the local city park. But never out in the fields. Love the pics!!

I think a photography class should be a requirement in all educational programs because it makes you see the world rather than just look at it.
