Hi Ladies! So sorry it took me so long to see this! Here are my settings - I used a 6sec shutter speed at f/9.0 my ISO was 100. I was using my 50mm 1.4 lens. It was dark outside but I had a light off to the tree right - just a regular ol' tungsten light type thing. I did have to use my tripod, there is no way I am that steady!

Please do not hesitate if you have any other questions!! I would love to see everyone elses tree!

Thanks for the setting info!

Here is my attempt, and well, I guess Santa really needs to bring me a full framer, I can't fit my whole tree in my lens! Here is a part of it.

OK, that didn't work I will try again

OK what am I doing wrong?

I think it looks good - what lens were you using?

If you are asking me, cindylou, I was using my widest lens, the Canon 28mm 1.8 on a 50D. I just don't have any more room to back up in that particular room. And the tree is 12 ft tall. I am gathering a supply of excuses(er reasons) why I need to get the new 6D!! I think the color of these photos changed somehow in uploading, they look funny here, not rich.

I just love the OP's whole photo, the curtains as a backdrop work perfectly for her too.
