There is a great deal on the T3 in town right now with the 18-55 and 55-250 but... I really would like to get the T4i but its not in my budget right now esp with the 18-135 lens I would like. Would you get the T3 to get started with a DLSR or stick with point and shoot for another year

check out dpreview.com. They have a camera comparision tool that lets you pick up to 20 cameras then compare them point by point. I think you will find the difference between the T3 and the T4i is fairly small and most likely an obscure technicallity that won't make a difference to a new shooter.

I'd go with the T3 myself. But compare them and see if there is something the 4i has that is a "must have" for YOU.

I am waiting for my T4i to come in. HSN had it as TSV on Friday. I looked at the T3 and T4 and the biggest difference looks like the T4i comes with a touch screen and the shutter speed is just a bit faster. Most reviews I saw, said if you have T3 don't bother upgrading.

But it was a good deal at HSN and I was upgrading for an XS so I was comfortable with making the purchase.
