For 2013 I am challenging myself to commit to photographing at least one choice image a week, for 52 weeks. I invite you to join me.
The ground rules are simple...
1. Each week will be assigned a theme.
Themes will be announced each Friday.
2. Post your submission(s) to each week's thread by the following Thursday. (Don't worry if you're late, you can still post.)
3. If you would like CC, please re-post the photo in a new thread.
To me 2013 symbolizes a fresh start to my photography.
I hope to re-kindle the passion I once had, and fill the void that has been left in it's place.
It was this realization that helped me to select the theme for week one.
2013 Challenge, Week 1: Fresh |

I can't believe I'm the first one up.
So I actually had a vision going into this one, just not really sure if I pulled it off as best as I could. The water is too blurry for my taste.
I have never attempted a shot like this before, so there is definately a learning curve with this one.
Taken with 24-105L lens with off-camera flash.
SS 1/200, f/9.0, ISO 200, 32mm
And one without the water.

Love the tomatoes, Kristina, did you have an assistant to spray the water?
I often wish for an extra hand or two when I'm juggling lenses but I'm not fast at setting things up so they would probably lose patience and wander off before I was finished.
Here's my shot for "fresh" this week:

Margie, they make me long for them too. I grow them too, and honestly the supermarket variety doesn't hold a candle to home grown.
gardencat - Yes I did have an "assistant". It was actually really funny. He had no idea how I wanted to water sprayed and we went through quite a few tries until it worked the way I had wanted.
I really like your submission, those greens definately convey the feeling to me. Nothing like a fresh, crisp head of lettuce. Great choice of vegetables, they really work very well together. And I love the tight crop too.

We have had below freezing temps every day except three since before Christmas, but no new snow. The old stuff was looking pretty haggard. But today - FRESH SNOW! |

Not having seen any of the other "fresh" photos (btw, drooling over the idea of some fresh veggies... can't find lettuce in Romania, seriously, there is some kind of crisis) but I had thought to apply the idea to my own editing. I felt I had been going heavy on the editing so for 2013 I'm really going to try something fresh and new (and hopefully simple) in my editing. The snowy day and grey scarf were perfect for the look I wanted to try out:

I am so glad to see everyone's photos. And the different takes are especially refreshing to see.
Susan, that fresh coat of snow is perfectly fitting !
Barb, I wish I could pick anything as fresh as those lemons this this time of year. Have to wait a few more months for that here. Nice shot, love the contrast of the yellow and blue.
Jeune, what a sweet shot. Such pretty eyes. Looks like this year is all about "fresh" for both of us.
I am a bit late getting the next theme up (sorry!) but will try to do it tonight. Checking out the list now. |

Thanks! We LOVE berries here, as well. There is usually a bowl of them on the counter, which is part of the reason why I have NO IDEA why it took me so long to come up with something for fresh! I guess sometimes we just try to make it more difficult than it is! |

Yep, that's a garlic! One that's been sitting just a bit too long, hence the sprouting. Still good if you know to cut out it all the way out of the core of the garlic. |

Wow, I love that we are still getting submissions for this theme. It seems like it was a great choice to start off the year.
I am really enjoying everyone's take on this word.
Great shot on that garlic. That is definately fresh !
And posting late is perfectly alright !! In fact I myself am late on week 2, as well as getting the subject up for week 3. Don't worry I think the next one will be an easy theme. Week 2 seems to have posed more of a challenge than I was going for, even I couldn't come up with anything until a day or two ago.
