So, reading Jennifer Minns' blog today she referred to a magazine. I look at the photography magazines at the store, and most of them completely overwhelm me with their busy busy format. I do like "Range Finder" but I'm curious what you all find the most helpful about the magazines, or if you don't find them helpful at all.
Thanks! |

I subscribed to shuttebug for a year and did not renew it.
I just subscribed to Click, which is geared to women photographers. I thought the price was excellent- 6 issues per year plus the full mag on line digitally for $15.
I like it. I find the articles light and informative and not over saturated with technical goobly garb that I really don't care to read-like the physics involved in creating lenses-zzzzzzzzz.
They also have an online forum via clickin' moms. Its free. |

Susan, one more thing. I get a weekly newsletter from Digital Photography School. It is a website created by a guy in Australia.
There's a lot of archived info on the sight, a message board forum, tutorials and affordable e-books.
Here's the sight Digital Photography School

Susan, I get shutterbug and popular photography both and I love both of them. I did get american photography for a while, but it was very umm lets just say I have a son and a husband and I didn't want them to see the magazine so I stopped it.. just my opinion though I am not knocking anyone else that might get it... I would be more than happy to send you my magazines after I look through them.. I give them away if I find someone that likes them... Just let me know... |

I shoot Canon so I subscribe digitally to PhotoPlus. It is all about Canon and is out of England. I used to buy it at the local Barnes & Noble but missed a few issues because they sold out before I could get there to purchase it. Now I get it on my iPad and never miss an issue. I think there is a new one for Nikon photographers that is called N. I also subscribe to Click from clickinmoms.com and a digital subscription of Popular Photogaphy. |

Jennifer, your offer is kind! Thank you. Let me think about it.
I think I'm going to go to the library and take a look at what they have so I can see which ones I like. What I find when I'm in Barnes and Nobles is that I'm overwhelmed by the layouts of the magazines - so much stuff crammed into such a small space that my brain checks out. Information overload!
I did look at the web site for click, and signed up for the DPS news letter. That's a start.
Thank you all for your information.
And Jill, how's your husband doing? I pray he's continuing to make progress with his recovery. |

Susan Beth check out Outdoor Photographer, you might like it since you shoot a lot of landscape and things outside. I get it and I like it. |

The only one I subscribe to is Outdoor Photographer. I really like it. It is mostly landscapes, wildlife, action and travel photography, but they do great technique articles on HDR, macro, black and white, and stuff like that.
I will occasionally pick another one up off the shelf, if an article or the cover catches my eye.
I also get the DPS daily email. Great resource. |

I actually just got an email from tanga.com and they have a selection of photography magazine subscriptions on sale for $4.99 for a year subscription. You can purchase up to 3 years at $4.99 a year. I am not sure if the link will work for you or not. It was sent to me as an insider deal. They had four different magazines to choose from.
