Does anyone have any suggestions for a portable black backdrop? My daughter bought one but it is really sheer and has lots of wrinkles. Does anyone use felt or cozy felt or something non conventional?

Black velvet. You didn't say how big you need it to be, but if not to big then thats what I use.

If you need BIG, then maybe sew two black sheets together. Sheets could tend to go "greyish" if you overexpose, but you could fix that in post.

Otherwise they sell black back drops that fold or roll at B&H.

I also have had good luck with babies on black polar fleece, then if they "mess" it up ha ha, it goes right into the wash.

A second vote here for black velvet. This is what I used when black was requested by clients. It really absorbs the light well.

HHCC always welcome & appreciated !!

I went to bed bath and beyond and bought a black(not good with material names maybe fleece) kinda soft and it has no reflections and no wrinkles... It is like $40 sometimes (from Jcpennys I paid $50... It has lasted me 4 years or so and I just now have to buy a new one because of not putting it back in the tote in the garage and something ATE it...lol my fault though...
