Since there seems to be some chatter about macro photography, and since some of us are starting to experiment with it, I thought it might be fun to show what we've done so far. Anyone want to play?

I have been wanting a macro lens for about a year and finally my hubby said I could get one for my birthday. I had been looking at the Canon 100mm 2.8 L lens but it was so expensive I was afraid to get it and then not like it. So, I got the Tamron 90mm 2.8 with Vibration Compensation. I love it! It is so quiet when focusing! I am still learning how to use it and I have figured out that I really need to use a tripod when I shoot macro. But here are a few of the pictures I have taken so far.

Beautiful! Love the 2nd one, and I don't really even like bugs...but you made that one adorable.

I know what you mean about needing a tripod. Unless you're in a very 'high light' situation using a very fast shutter speed, it's hard to hold still enough to capture the details a decent macro can give.

Here are a couple more of mine, shot with a kind of nice little 50mm f/1.8 lens with extension tubes added(which I'm really liking!):

I'm really enjoying this thread. I love the ability macro shots have to show you things you've never noticed before. Keep them coming, please.

Here's one of mine from last summer.

These are all great! And nice variety of subjects.

A few that I took this past week. Used one of my manual focus lenses and extension tubes.

My first time posting macros. First time posting any pictures in years.

All the photos were great! I have been thinking about getting a macro and keep going back-n-forth... I think I was just convinced I MUST have one now

Here's one I took this past Saturday. There were several of these guys buzzing around the sunflowers at the edge of our vegetable garden. I don't know what they are but they were kind of pretty. For a bug.
