So it's getting harder for me to choose challenges. I didn't realize how hard this portion would be when I started this challenge.

I can't wait until it gets warmer out and the days get longer with sunshine ! Some of these themes will be easier to pick for sure.

Without further ado, here is the next subject.

2013 Challenge, Week 7: SMOKE

-------------------------

The ground rules...

1. Each week will be assigned a theme.
Themes will be announced each Friday.

2. Post your submission(s) to each week's thread by the following Thursday. (Don't worry if you're late, you can still post.)

3. If you would like CC, please re-post the photo in a new thread.

HHCC always welcome & appreciated !!

This would be week #7 for last week because we did flowers as #6 you might want to repost it. I am saving them all

I think a photography class should be a requirement in all educational programs because it makes you see the world rather than just look at it.

Jennifer, I am just glad to see you posting. I am finding these challenges to be more difficult to keep up with than I had anticipated. But I'm trying and glad to see that you are too.

OTOH, I don't think fog and smoke are the same thing. Smog, on the other, might count since it's fog and smoke mixed together. But smog is certainly not as pretty as fog.

Love your shot. Though I have to ask ... you were the passenger, right?

I am actually cheating a little with this entry, since I took it a few weeks ago. Though I am allowing myself to use it since I was planning to go out and shoot the same exact scene for this week's theme. In fact it was this shot that inspired me to choose this week's theme, just so I would go out and re-shoot. I had actually hoped to get slightly better composition, since the branches on the left bother me a bit.

I had considered cloning them out, but I think it might just be better to re-shoot.

Alas, I was not able to make the time so I am subbing this shot in it's place.

Kris- I was actually with a few other photographer friends we were at church camp for the week in Jamestown Tenn and decided to get up one morning and go shooting. Jo Ann stopped her car on the side and we all climbed out and shot this scene. It was really breathtaking to see it and I was pretty new to HDR so wanted my try. Sometimes our eyes just see it so much better I appreciate these challenges more thaqn you will ever know and I take them very seriously like a class. I do think they are hard sometimes, but I still want that after all it is called a Challenge right Thanks for keeping these going..
Have a blessed day!

Thought I'd bring this thread up again.

This is not a new photo but one I took several years ago when I was in China. At that point I was using a Canon PowerShot, point and shoot, with something like a whole 4 MP sensor so the picture quality is problematic but, since there were some scenes I'll probably never have the chance to see again, I've started going back and re-editing some of those shots, now that I have upgraded software and more editing experience, to see if I can improve on them a little.
In the process I came across this picture.

The Yangtze valley tends to be a misty foggy place, much of the time, so I have a lot of misty pictures, but this picture of an industrial town on the river bank has actual smoke coming out of some factory or processing plant and drifting back up the riverbank.
