Just got back home and was looking at the photos. On one of them it says image can't be displayed. However,I can see the image. Why is that?

Lip balm,

check to see if you are shooting with a defected card. It sounds like the card is messed up. Mine did that(nikon) and I panicked. I took the card out and blew on it(weird) and put it back in. It acted like this three times and I bought a new card and it was fine...
YOU have very good reviews about this camera and in a text study it ranked close to the top cannon model(i cant remember the numbers Mark something.... Try this and if that doesn;t work then I would get off what you can and try formatting the card.

I think a photography class should be a requirement in all educational programs because it makes you see the world rather than just look at it.

Congrats on your new 7d I hope you love yours as much as I love mine Were you shooting in jpg. and possibly hit the raw+jpg button? When you downloaded it is it a CR2 raw file that you are not able to see? Just some thoughts

I don't know? Maybe a button got touched? lol it could be a possibility but not something I would have done intentially. Especially since I have no clue about raw.
How would you know if its a CR2 raw file? The compact flash thing is in the computer right now. What do I look for next? If it was shot that way,can it be retrieved?

If you shot it in raw it can be retrieved no problem. I would not suspect this being the case however. Switching from jpeg to raw takes some menu hunting. I dont think it would have been something you did for one shot then switched it back without realizing. But you never know. Not sure what you are using to edit or process your photos. If you load the software that came with the camera it will process the image if it was raw. I am thinking it sounds like you hit a button accidently. Thats why I had thought you might have hit the live view/movie button. Its a switch and could accidentally get switch to a different setting. When you say you can see the image do you mean when the card is in the camera and when you down load it it says it cant be displayed? Did it only happen once. I would down load and save the images and reformat the card then shoot again to fill the card. Its good to pracive with a new camera anyway. But this will tell you if the card is bad. Best to test this before you need to shoot something really special to you.
