that the photography Gallery we all used to use was taken over by scrapbooking even though they have their own and NO ONE on the board hardly ever uses it? Just curious... I stopped using it too

Is there anyway we can get them to fiz it so we an post without using another hosting site?? What was the reasons of that if anyone knows?

I think a photography class should be a requirement in all educational programs because it makes you see the world rather than just look at it.

Jennifer - I have been saying this for awhile now. There was a time when you could directly upload to the gallery from your computer and then link it over as either an image or an html link into a message board post. When that stopped, the gallery became stomping grounds for scrapbooking and a foreign legion for photo folks. I used to visit it regularly and leave comments. There used to be weekly themes and people (as in more than 2 or 3) would participate.

and yes, I walked up hill both ways to and from school
in snow
up to my hinie

but it really happened. the day before Facebook came to town. When people not only looked but talked about what they were photographing over the weekend - or what they were doing in general. the day when get-togethers were conceived and planned - and those of us not lucky enough to get to go would wait with anticipation of all the pictures that would be posted upon their return. when people would start threads in the middle of the night running through the alphabet with word-association.

Yes children - it really happened.

and I miss it and have no doubt that the managers of this site noticed its absence as well and have been slowly euthanizing the photography board all together.

guess we need to ban together and shout
"we are here" "we are here" "we are here" (sorry, slipped into a little Dr. Seuss)

Nikon stuff!

I haven't been here as long as you have but even I remember when there used to be an official photography challenge hosted every week, but that died away sometime in the last year...it does seem as if photography is a real poor cousin on this site but then, to be honest, I don't think Two Peas sells much in the way of photography geared products so, maybe if this interest doesn't generate much profit, it is not surprising that it doesn't get that much attention.

I just want to say also that Facebook is no friend of mine. I post on a few boards that are languishing as a result of the old members switching over and doing more posting on Facebook, and less on the board and, as for me, I just don't enjoy Facebook as much as I did the old boards that seemed more like a community.

Do you see what I see?

Oh, I miss that feature also! I remember those "good old days". I used to run the 26 Things Challenge, and it was so much fun seeing what everyone could do with the themes, and getting an insight into how others thought and viewed things. I miss the general friendliness of the board and those on-going topics that people jumped in and out of. Facebook has definitely dealt a blow to the sense of community that used to be here. I also miss being able to post a photo by linking to my computer. I miss the old board. Excuse me while I dodder away.

I stopped using the gallery when the TOU was changed so that anything posted to the gallery became property of 2peas. There was an uproar about that and they eventually changed the wording back but by that point many had stopped using the gallery here and developed other habits.

Then they made new changes and people had trouble nagavating where exactly there stuff ended up.
