I watched some of a horse jumping event Saturday. What fun to shoot. I have never actually seen horse jumping in action prior. Glad I found this going on and stopped. Super happy to have had my camera with me. It was the event final so I may have to wait till next year to do this again.

I haven't checked in for quite a long time - so glad I did this evening. Your shots are lovely - I bet the organizers of this event would love to have copies of your work! I love all the colours - and - the action you stopped right in mid-jump!

Just curious. What were your camera settings? You must have had a fast shutter speed?

Thanks all for looking and your nice comments. Scrappin, I shot these in a pretty high aperture for outside. It was not a very bright day. ISO on most that day was 800. Aperture about 7.1. I was afraid to go much more open than that. Usually this gave me a fast enough shutter to stop the actin.

Very impressive, CoolBeans! My daughters and I are equestriennes and we would LOVE to have photos like these. You instinctively knew where to place yourself even though you had never watched a show. Great talent, girl!

I grew up showing Hunter's and Jumpers and there is always a show photographer on site who specializes in just shooting horse shows. I would have never guessed that you have never been to a show! These images are incredible!! I would definitely let the show organizers see these - you may be the next show photographer.

Thanks so much all. I never thought they might be interested in any of the shots. I will send them to them. It would be awesome if I could shoot next year for them.

Jackie - I am so impressed. Heck, I can not even get my act together to stop for something and low-key as an antique car show - I never seem to have my camera on me when I randomly come across an event. But to both have your camera and get some awesome good action shots - bravo to you gal. Excellent!
