Special thanks to everyone who participated in this challenge! I had so much fun seeing the backgrounds you created from your stamps and all the different, creative methods you used!
I have selected a random winner, and the winner is...
EllenPea! Congratulations!
This challenge: Sat., 3/5/2011 thru Sun. 3/15/2011
WF11 Make Your Own Background blog post - how to enter & gallery
THIS WF11 Make Your Own Background discussion thread - chatter & questions
WF11 Master Thread
If you have any questions about this challenge, please ask them HERE in THIS Discussion Thread! Thank you!
HOW TO ENTER:
This challenge is about creating your own background by using a stamp that is 2" x 2" or smaller, instead of a larger background stamp. The 2" x 2" refers to the size of the stamped image itself, not the block.
1. Create a NEW card, ATC, layout, or other project of your choice that includes a background that you made by stamping a 2" x 2" stamp or smaller repeatedly to create a background effect. The background should be at least 3.75" x 5" in dimension (stamped all over!), which should give both card makers and scrappers some options on how to use the background piece.
2. Upload your project to the Stamping Gallery. Please use WF11 in your title.
3. Come back to THIS THREAD and add a link to your project. Refer to this blog post for information on How to Create a Link in a discussion thread.
OTHER DETAILS:
* You may enter as many times as you like, but each time you have to use a DIFFERENT stamp to create your background.
* You may combine multiple smaller stamps, so long as they are less than 2" x 2" combined, to create your background. (This is easier to do with clear stamps ... you can arrange them all on one block.)
* You may combine this challenge with other challenges.
SAMPLES: See the WF11 Make Your Own Background blog post.
RANDOM WINNER:
I will select one random winner from all qualified entries. I will announce the winner on or before Wed., March 16th, 2011. The winner will receive a 5x7 greeting card of my Bridal Veil Falls photograph, which the winner could use to send a greeting (blank inside) or frame. You can see a likeness of the Bridal Veil Falls card on the Make Your Own Background blog post. |

Anne, I have to laugh because I did it again--procrastinated until someone else offered my challenge!
I love your idea. Your sample cards are lovely, and the backgrounds are very effective. It was clever of you to include a size requirement--no big background stamps with one-step-and-you're-done cards. LOL.
Back to the drawing board!

'Two-by-two', Anne? LOL Sounds like 'Noah's Ark'! I'm definitely up for this challenge! Not only can I get several small stamps inky at once, but it will 'combo' well with several other challenges! Wahoo! |

What a fun challenge Anne! I am going to look through my acrylic $1 stamps and see if I can put some to use that don't get inked often!
Thanks for a great challenge and wonderful inspiration. |

It is a fun one! And it's a bit easier than the one I was thinking of so everyone will be grateful! I was going to have them make some kind of Masterboard/One Sheet Wonder plus a finished project plus give a mini-tutorial on how they made it. I'll get them next time. LOL.
Not to worry. I found something else. Something easy. Everyone will be happy.
Now, I need to look through my stamps and choose the very best one to make this background.
Thanks for the challenge!

Please check out these creations that have been submitted for this challenge so far.
These two have met the challenge requirements:
Montannie's Spunk card
Nora's lady with flower card
And the following two are gorgeous, but, unfortunately, do not meet the challenge requirements, which say:
Create a NEW card, ATC, layout, or other project of your choice that includes a background that you made by stamping a 2" x 2" stamp or smaller repeatedly to create a background effect. The background should be at least 3.75" x 5" in dimension (stamped all over!), which should give both card makers and scrappers some options on how to use the background piece.
Tinkerbeth's Butterfly Field card
Zinniagirl's Key to my Heart layout
That being said, please visit all four projects and leave a little Pea Praise love!

Here is my card for this fun challenge, I used a stamp I had in my stash for while, and had not used it, so it was perfect for builking a background. Stamped it in black momento ink, and colored with my Copics added Rangers black enamel for the spots, Added a punched border and my sentiment.

I'm really looking forward to playing along with this challenge, using up those little images that come along with many sets isn't usually something I do (being one of those lazy stampers that just uses a large stamp, or even more lazily, patterned papers!). |

Okay, You got me! In my effort to spend more time creating and less time reading I jumped right in and created a card making my own BG. WRONG! Then when I went to link it up I learned the stamp had to be 2x2 or less. OOps! Sooo back to work... I think this one fits the bill, I hope you agree. :0) See it here. Thanks for keeping me on my toes!

So many ways to use just one stamp and a little ink can go a long ways...I like the way some can come up with a different look with the same stamp, would like to see others do just that if they can come up using the same stamp. |

I used one of those tiny stamps from a bigger Hero Arts set for the background on this card. I like the stamp, but I'm remembering why Brilliance Moonlight white ink isn't my favorite--it totally absorbs into the paper. Oh well, I still like the background!

Took me a while to get this on the gallery, Anne. That said, I had fun doing your BG challenge.
I used an inchie stamp as the BG image for the label part of my card. Started out doing it as a regular repeat, but it got a bit less regular as I went along.
I used an embossing folder on the card base to 'echo' the stamped BG.
