Maggie, when I looked at your blog, I recognized that wonderful red heart. I remember falling in love with it when I saw it in the gallery.

I don't usually wear jewelry, but I'm always looking at ways to use it as embellishments on my cards. I'm glad I have a whole week to do this because I'm just now getting busy with Winterfest!!!

Thank you,
Daria

I've read through your blog, and I have a couple of questions.

Question #1

Use any Utee except for clear.
Coat the frames w/clear embossing powder, Utee, heat, repeat with a second coat.

Do we or don't we use clear UTEE? LOL.
I think I get it; you meant to say clear embossing ink. Right?

Question #2

Your Challenge this week is to create your own unique embellishment by using embossing powder, UTEE, Glitter Glue to any stamp item. You can use paper, acrylic, fabric, anything.

If I make an embellishment but do not make it into jewelry, will that fulfill the requirements of this challenge?

Question #3
If I use the directions to making the Faux Metal Heart that are linked in the gallery post, will that count?

Comment:
If people don't have UTEE, they can use regular embossing powder, but they have to use it many more times in order to achieve the thickness of UTEE. Hope everyone gives this a try.

Thanks for letting me pester you.

Sorry about that I meant clear embossing ink.
Yes you can use the other tut as well no worries... I have updated the post.
I've use this technique on a lot of mix media items.
It's a very fun technique, Anne Thanks for telling me there's a name for it, i've been reading about it for the past hour.

Please let me know if there are anymore questions?

LOL, Maggie! Ya just gotta love a party when the 'after party' is as much fun as the 'party'!

OK! I don't have clear EP of any sort, but I like your challenge. So... I'm going to go the "Inspired by..." route for this.

So far I've used an egg stamp to emboss a piece of craftfoam. It will be the 'pendant'. I've begun to add layers of color--ink & paint. Have to give them time to cure before I move along, but looking at other stamps to embellish my pendant--nothing 'faux' about it. Probably use ribbon or other 'non-metal' to make the 'hang-around-the-neck' part, but might use 'altered' chenille stems. I can't wait to see where I go with this--I love not 'knowing'.

Daniel, we are not suppose to use clear EP.

I can hardly wait to see your creation!

Daria

ETA: Clear is the only kind of UTEE I have. Well, I might have black.

Thanx, Dar! "My bad"! I didn't catch that aspect of Maggie's challenge.

I'm making progress with my pendant. In place of the cardboard, I'm using craftfoam. The Duncan Crystals paint is working well as a UTEE substitute, too. And... I found that I could reheat the foam & press the original egg stamp into it to increase the embossing without damaging the piece or the (rubber) stamp. Still have a ways to go with this... FUN!

Daniel,
I've use foam and the crystal as well , they work great, I just happen to have a large quantity of Utee on hand, I'm trying to use that stash down...
Can't wait to see what you create

This was fun Maggie! I love playing with UTEE and had never tried coating it with PearlEx, loved the shiny effect. I didn'n make a jewelry piece for me, because at the moment I can't wear jewelry since my little boy tears everything off. Instead I made fridge magnets (jewelry for the fridge!), a heart for each family member. Here's my project:

WF11 Fridge Magnets

Thanks for hosting this great challenge!

Left you a comment, Anna-k. Your pendant/magnets are very cool! I see the UTEE is 'sold out', but just might see if I can find some online. I have an altered-art swap coming up & this might be a good time to explore this product...

After some false starts, I'm making progress on my pendant. The egg looks good & my butterfly ain't bad. Think I want to do a 'frame/setting' for it before I call it 'done'...

Anna-Karin, I just saw your magnets; they are wonderful!

It looks like I'm going to need another Hangover Week to do the Hangover Challenges. This could go on and on . . .

I had fully intended to do this challenge, but it's not going to happen this week.

There's still one more day to play. I'm just not going to be home for most of the day.

Thanks Daniel and Daria!

Daniel, UTEE is a lot of fun. I like the clear version, since you can add just a bit of any colour embossing powder on top (one or two layers), or even use more than one colour. You can get some really cool effects.

Sorry you won't have time to do this Daria! I hope you'll get the time next week.
