Hi Stampeas.

This is the first time I've had to draw a winner for my own prize drawing. Drawing a name is just as exciting as winning! Thank you all for participating. This was an adventure, for sure!

The Pea name drawn out of the tupperware bowl:

********* Far North (Jan)******

Congratulations Jan! I will PM you.

***Hello Peas.....I will be closing this challenge down at 12Am CST Two Peas time (10PM PST). Unfortunately, Two Peas controls the time the projects will link to this challenge. The prize winner will be announced 10/17 in the evening. Thanks for playing!***

FINALLY MY CHALLENGE IS POSTED!

SOF 11 - Embossed Art!

CHALLENGE DATES: October 1st through October 16th, 2011

Welcome to the Embossed Art! challenge.

THE CHALLENGE:

Create a piece of *mixed media-like* art, and then add some stamped embossing. Or you can also attach some sort of stamped embossed element to your art. Fancy it up as little or as much as you want.

It does not have to be a card. It can be anything you want, as long as you stamp emboss on it. Embossed words on your project count towards the challenge, too.

See the blog post for more details.

ANY QUESTIONS? Ask them on this thread.

POST A LINK TO YOUR CREATION ON THIS THREAD.

Share any info you want related to Stampfest on this thread.

Ya done good, Furry! Love your samples--look pretty 'artsy' to me!

Now... Gotta question. I'm guessing that heat-embossing is not the only embossing that can be done for your (neat) challenge?

Like 'fussy cutting', I enjoy doing stylus-embossing on stamped pieces. I have several styli, but have done it with lots of other around-the-house items like pens, butter knives, toothpicks, etc.

And I like to wet-emboss with rubberstamps.

I dampen a piece of paper & place it on my stamp. Then I press the paper into the image. Let it dry & Voila! I have an embossed image.

The one and only time I dabbled in Mixed Media, my kitchen table was covered with paints and stuff for a month. I was making enough items for a swap. I have to admit I had a blast. I kept adding and changing things. I fell in love with the wonderful colors of Golden Fluid Acrylics.

You've got me thinking.

Sorry...my computer was acting up all morning.

Now... Gotta question. I'm guessing that heat-embossing is not the only embossing that can be done for your (neat) challenge?

I am not even sure what wet embossing is. I assumed since there is dry embossing, that the heat embossing was wet embossing.

I was just making sure stamping was involved.

YES, you can heat emboss, wet emboss, dry emboss....just as long at there is a *stamped* something on your project. How about that? I will edit the post.

Maria, as far as I know, heat embossing and wet embossing are the same thing.

I'm only aware of dry embossing, heat embossing, and paste embossing. Now I'm wondering if wet embossing refers to the paste embossing.

Daria

ETA: When I googled the term wet embossing, the articles referred to heat embossing.

Very pretty and colorful layout. Since you linked your flicker I looked at some of the other pages you did. So pretty! Really like that colorful bingo card!

LOL! 'Wet' embossing is when I dampen a piece of paper to soften in, then I press the paper into a rubberstamp & weight it down. When it's completely dry I remove it from the (stamp) mould. Voila! I have an embossed image.

Note: Papercasting with stamps is also a wet-embossing technique. For starters I recommend using a fairly simple stamp as the mould & working with plain paper. Also... If you ink the stamp before working the dampened paper into/onto it? The effects can be very interesting depending on the type of ink used.

I used enough messy stuff on this to make the creation of this card a long process with drying times (for paints, Stickles, and Maya Mist) and various colors of embossing powders figured in.

Here is my project:

Okay, I got brave and tried this challenge. I dreamed about the card and it came together, I think, very nicely.

I like the art element and this challenge was way outside my comfort zone, but I really like this piece.

I like the glossiness of it and the colors.

Thanks for the challenge. Ann's Embossed Art Challenge card

Thanks for playing.

I've posted an entry to this challenge in the blog. It's not a major work of art, for sure, but I enjoyed making it, thought it was kind of funny and cute and wanted to share (and it does include embossing, but not in any major way). In any case, I hope it gives you a little chuckle.

Hi Peas and SOF Embossed Art participants!

I did not abandon the Stampfest. I've just been really busy at work, that I am pooped by the time I get home.

I'll be back tomorrow. Some how no matter how busy I am I always have energy on Fridays...lol

Hi, Maria! Thank you for hosting such a fun challenge!

Here's mine: SOF11 Sending Happy Thoughts Rose
I created a mixed media background for the focal rose in my card, and dry embossed it, and added heat embossing elsewhere on the card. Hope this fits your challenge, Maria!

Congrats Jan!!!!

Thanks so much for hosting Maria. This was a great challenge.

Or you should have attached to papers to little cookies, then I bet your dog would have picked on, but you would have had to be very quick to read who won.
