I've been working with Jamie Sorenson, and we set up a new "sticky post" to Welcome new Stamping Peas and to share about our events. (Thanks, Jamie!)

I was wondering whether you thought there was anything that I should add? What would you like to share with new Stamping Peas? What would you have liked to find out when you were new here?

I am open to suggestions!

That's a great sticky thread Anne! Great idea!

Perhaps you could add something about welcoming people to join us on the board, ask questions, and post cards and projects - so that it is not only about the stamping events? What do you think?

"what would I share with new StamPeas?" You're a brave lady, Anne!

My advice to new (& non-new) SPs would be 'share'. Can't put stuff in the gallery? OK. But you can tell us about what you make using words.

I so enjoy having others tell me about their stuff--including the flubs! Actually the 'flubs' are the best 'cause I can always relate to 'creative angst' so many of us have!

While 2Ps gallery is chock full of great pix & fab talent, it's not the same as what our message boards provide. MBs like our stamping one are what draws me to keep in touch with this community.

I would have liked to have known that momemto ink (in tuxedo black) is really, really good. That you should just accept the fact that copic markers are really the best. And...Gina K cardstock is the best! ( in my opinion ) Oh...and practice, practice, practice. And some YouTube videos can really help getting you started.

Have fun! Take the free classes even if you don't think you'll use it. You never know what great little trick you'll learn. Look through the gallery for inspiration not for comparing!

smilamjeep has it all right... I would add some of the top products that are just silling to go without: Gina K paper, Copics, Momento Ink and stamp cleaning info (baby wipes over bottled stuff works just as good). Storage ideas for stamps (love those DVD boxes with cardstock on the back - stamp all items, close the case and voila - instant reference sheet!).

Things like that...

I really wish I has bought more stamps and less stickers etc. Now, 16 years later I am still stamping and making things look the way I want them to instead of trying to make things I bought work. Stamps might seem expensive to a new stamp buyer, but they pay for themselves over and over and over

I was thinking of including some links to resource threads that usually surface during our events. Like Daria's Classic Threads:

Or links to inspiration / past free classes like:

Are there any other threads like this that I should link to, as places for a new Stamping Pea to start or find inspiration? Anyone else have threads like this in their bookmarks?

Okay! So I've updated the Sticky Welcome and about Stamping Events thread ... and linked back to this one. Is there anything else you'd like me to share with new Stamping Peas?
