Hi, Daria! Thanks for starting the OFFICIAL WSW12 Master Thread AND the How To and Trouble-Shooting Thread too!

Also, as a tip for new hosts/hostesses and a reminder for the rest of us, please put WSW12 in the title of your challenge blog post, so that all the WSW12 challenges will show up together in the challenge list.

And please put WSW12 in the title of your gallery posts for the challenges! It makes it easy to search for them later if we want to!

I love seeing the challenge titles in advance and wondering what they will be!

LOL, Anne! I'm with you on seeing challenge 'nams' & speculating on what they might involve. That said? It's more-than-ok if a challenge title is simple & straightforward. Feel free to not agonize over your challange name.

Yes! As Daria cautions, be sure to read the challenger's blog completely before starting your project. While lots of hosters will let a small requirement slide; others want 100% complience--nothing wrong with that.

I see Daria has provided a 'heads-up' note on her challenge. Good! (I'm alrady speculating on how I might comply)

My challenge is Material Whirl--still a fan of Madonna's early work! While it's not a necessity, you might want to have adhesive-backed paper &/or plastic-coated freezer paper handy for this challenge.

Where's the drum roll? Where're the congratulations? Didn't anyone notice I didn't wait until the last minute to decide on a challenge? Not only that, it's named! AND I even have sample cards made. This is an historic first of momentous merit. I even have my blog post all written up and saved in a Word Document. It'll just need a few tweaks to comply with the blog format here, and it's ready to be posted on Thursday. I'm a happy camper.

We're off to a great start. We already have eight hosts, and four challenges are already named. How's that for a June event?

I'm going to Nora's today, but I'll check in when I return to see if anyone else would like to give a heads-up about unusual supplies that might be needed for their challenge. I held back on one of the unusual supplies, but it's something that is used around the house. If you don't have it, I figure you can get one from a neighbor. I like the idea of having a secret ingredient.

I always get excited when we get to this stage of the preparations.
Love seeing the names of the challenges as they appear on the list.

Thank you, everyone.

LOL, Daria! You're soooo 'needy'! OK! Just for you...

California Earthquake
While settling into a comfortable sleep,
A rumble like no other into my ears did creep!

Sounded like thunder, but I wasn't sure.
Kept listening & heard a sound pure.

A hundred bass drums were being beaten!
Was it something I'd eaten?

I listened again & heard trumpets braying,
Maybe 1000 or more playing!

Was it 'Judgement Day'?--I feared.
Then a vision inside my mind's eye appeared.

'Twas the StamPea Daria,
Singing an aria!

In a lilting soprano her message was clear,
"I'm early this year!".

"I've got a challenge & samples to boot!
Plus a secret ingredient--whatta Hoot!"

As the vision faded away,
I said a big 'Yay'.

Checked the house for damage & found it alright.
Settled myself for the rest of the night.

Today I'm awake & loaded for bear.
Definitely gonna take Daria's 'dare'!

Very funny, Heidi! The poetry helps. (BTW, my daughter's name is Heidi; her father was German and named her for an old girlfriend!)

Good progress, LeighAnn; it looks like a lot of us are ahead of the game this time. It's a nice feeling.

Maybe I'll even do some more clean-up in the craft room before Opening Day.

Decided to offer another challenge-- Live--on Tape

No 'special' product needs, but y'all might want to check your stock of tapes--not necessarily the ones you use for crafting. And a heads-up on inks. You might want to have solvent & pigment ones along with dye inks.

Daria, I didn't know that. I have only met four other Heidi's in my life. A German foreign exchange student told me once that the only Heidi's in Germany were very old (that was a long time ago...) so I'm not even sure it is popular in Germany anymore...

Daniel, that was a most fantastic poem you wrote for Daria! You are brilliant!

I do hope to be able to participate in WSW week, but not entirely sure yet. We may have to be away for most or part of it. Shall see what happens, but really do hope I will be able to participate.

This is going to be a fun stamping event! Eleven challenges so far AND Bingo! Wooo-hooo!

I am still trying to get organized in my crafty space in advance of the event. I have pulled out some of my new stamps / favorite stamps so they will be all ready to go when the event starts!

Looking forward to it!

Materials questions to the hosts as I am making a shopping list:

Neysa: Will a stamped feather image do, or does it have to be a real feather. And where in the craft store do I look for feathers?

Daniel: Is the freezer paper you are talking about wax paper?

Daria: Is transparent glitter something special, or is this the craft glitter (like from Martha Stewart or whatever)?

Thanks, trying to get prepared...

Heidi, you're going to need a glitter that you can see through so get one that is not colored and is transparent. Some glitter is opaque; you don't want that one. You don't need micro-fine glitter; ultra-fine or regular is ok. Just don't buy chunky stuff.

HTH.

BTW, freezer paper and waxed paper are not the same. Freezer paper is like the paper they use to wrap meat and is sometimes called butcher's paper. It is white, and one side is matte and the other side is shiny.

Thanks for the info, Daria and Anne. I think I may hold off my shopping trip till Friday (maybe) so I can get all in one trip. Can you tell I've never purchased glitter before?

And I never am able to see the new profile photos unless someone tells me they are there. I have to empty my cache to see them every time. Frustrates me, but Anne your new photo is very nice!

Heidi. As Anne says, PCFP is not waxpaper. It's also not plain freeze/butcher paper. One side of it is plain; the other has a plastic coating. It's very similar to pallette paper, but lots cheaper.

Christin. Most games & drive-bys are 'thread only' (with WSW12 in their title)--Like Willy's Bingo. If, however, a game is a bit tricky, you might want to create a blog for it. Wait 'til you see my games for WSW12--they're gonna be doozies...

Well, it looks like I am the last to tell what my challenge is even though I have known it and have samples ready!!!! Will be giving the deets tomorrow. I couldn't think of a catchy name for this one, but I really want to see what ya'll do with this. I try to get this look, but it is hard for me for some reason. My challenge is SHABBY CHIC. There will be some requirements, but I think you will have what is needed.

By the way, I usually buy my plastic coated freezer paper (PCFP) at the supermarket / grocery store. Reynold brand is one.

I use it for other crafty projects. And it can substitute for a non-stick craft sheet if you don't have one for some projects (not all though). And if you paint with acrylics, you can protect your dry acrylic paintings during shipping / transit by covering them with the shiny side toward the painting............ It's handy stuff!

So we are off! That's good because I was afraid people might start to get frustrated with all the "Details to Come" messages. LOL.

Anna-Karin, please put in a service ticket. I put one in last night for the same reason plus other problems of slow down on Two Peas. Jamie asked for details and said that no one else had complained. They need to know that this is a huge issue. It could shut down our party pretty fast!

If the problem continues, I would suggest that participants keep right on playing and post when the problem is over.

Thank you.

Just noticed that my WSW12 badges started showing up. I think maybe the "chatter" one relates to this thread? and I got one for "challenge player" since I just submitted a project. They are pretty!

Or maybe the chatter one is just how many posts in the stamping forum during the WSW timeframe...?

I just looked and got a badge called "Challenge Praiser." Must be for commenting on someones piece for WSW12 Challenges...

Also noting that Kimber did her regular card sketch this week and encouraged us to combine it with another challenge here at WSW12. SCS Thread

And the Finally Friday challenge is to create a card with a stamped focal image, so that should be good and easy to combine too. Finally Friday Challenge page

WOW! We're really rockin' our forum! So much so that this valuable & useful thread keeps moving down the page a lot.

Since I can use Daria's links to check out all the challenges/games, threads & blogs @ one time, I suggest we all try to keep the Master Thread near the top of the first forum page. OK?
