Wow! This is the first full week of Autumn (Spring south of the equator) & last full week of Sept. Months & seasons are certainly speeding along!

With that in mind I thought it might be fun to play around with 'firsts' & 'lasts' along with our usual sharing of daily doings. You might link us to your first 2Ps gallery piece for instance. Here's my first gallery upload--a bit sparse on the 'how-tos'.

Up to each poster how they want to handle the 'F&L' aspect.

Weather here is holding nice. Still cool, but sunny & dry. Might do a load of laundry today or tomorrow (gonna be a bit warmer).

Food front. Stroganoff was good. Might have leftover for supper or hold off 'til Tues. Pancakes sound good to me today! Have to see what mom would like.

Craft front. Loading my SS package--such fun! Also working on my pieces for my challenge using craftfoam.

I don't visit lots of other (2Ps) forums, but went over to the Scrapping one & extended a 'formal' invitation to join us StamPeas during SOF '12. Got nice responses so far.

Hope you have a good today & get a chance to chat this week.

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone's doing well! I had a busy but good weekend. Weather's been really nice so I've been trying to enjoy it while it lasts!

I've gathered all my stuff for my SS and was hoping to get it mailed out today but will probably have to wait until tomorrow morning.

I got some fun stuff this weekend. I bought a pack of gelatos and a pack of spectrum noir markers to check out. So far, I love the gelatos! I've been playing around with them some today and they are so easy to work with. The colors are really nice and they blend well. Price isnt bad either. I definitely plan to purchase more.

As far as the Spectrum Noir markers, I think I like them. They seem to blend well and I like how the colors are grouped together in a 6 pack. Other than the price, that's one of the things I find so daunting about Copics. I wouldnt even know where to start in picking out colors!

Daniel, your stroganoff sounds good. I haven't had or made that in years. On the food front, we're having apple stuffed chops tonight with baked beans and roasted sweet potatoes.

Here's my very first entry to the gallery. It was also my first attempt at paper piecing!
first card upload

Well, I'm off to give some stamps and acrylic blocks a bath! I've got some that have gotten a little grimey! Gotta get them pretty for Stamptoberfest!

Great idea with the firsts & lasts addition to the thread, Daniel. Here is my first gallery upload... SOF Card

Funny enough, it was for SOF. Which I am really looking forward to. I am going to try to carve out plenty of time for playing along. I need to get my challenges sorted out, blogged, etc.

Emma got her SS package in the mail today! She doesn't even know it yet. I have to pick her up from school in just a few minutes. She is going to HATE me when I tell her she has to wait until SOF to open it, lol! We will see how that goes

LeighAnn, I have been contemplating the Spectrum Noirs for some time. I picked up some Chromatix when I was in M's over the weekend and have just started playing with them. They are alcohol markers as well, and they come in 3 packs for $9.99. With a coupon, the price is so much nicer than Copics.

Gotta dash for now and go pick up the kiddos. It's my birthday today, so I won't be around much later. Hubby is grilling steaks tonight, going to have a cold beer and play some Nintendo!

Have a great day, all!

Happy belated birthday, Michelle!

I'm kind of new to the stamping board. I've been lurking a while but haven't posted, but Stamptoberfest has me curious! I think I'll be joining you for at least part of it.

Daniel, stroganoff sounds good. I may be stopping for some sour cream on my way home from work today... Think I have everything else that's needed. It's a rainy, rather chilly day here today. Need some comfort food, I think.

So, in honor of my posting over here for what I think may be the first time, I looked through my gallery posts for the "first" time that I posted something using stamps. I think it's this one: Imagine Beauty

LOL! Been an 'interesting' day so far!

When I came downstairs mom informed me the furnace wasn't working. Not my fave way to start the day--'specially before coffee. Called our furnace guy & (wonder of wonders) got him! He showed up promptly (I was on a roll!). And it turned out the thermostat was the culprit. It had joined the 'choir invisible'. He replaced it & no prob. He's coming back to do the furnace cleaning next month. Mom's happy (& warmer). For the moment I'm in her good graces.

Yeah the stroganoff was good, but neither of us wanted it last nite & the pancakes weren't tripping my trigger. I ordered Chinese for us. They delivered in no time & mom enjoyed her sweet & sour shrimp along with some wontons & wings. Got her to taste some of the other stuff. She wasn't big on the roast pork with mushrooms, but liked the chicken & broccoli plus the diced chicken with cashews. She still has a few 'issues' with the crisp nature of stirfried veggies like the broccoli, but we're working on it. LOL.

Scheduled a new dr. appt. with mom's general doctor. Should be good to go on that.

Weather is still real nice. In the low 70s today--thank goodness given the furnace problem. Chance of precip later & might be rainy & cooler tomorrow. Good day for the pancake supper on wed. Mom's agreed. Planning to serve sweet sausage for the meat & do sauted bananas as a side.

Craft front. Worked with craftfoam & like the results. One idea worked well, but I made one mistake that I know how to correct the next time. Without going into detail... I have to remember to allow for the 'shrink' when I work that way with CF.

Now for 'sayin' heys' since my last chat post...

Hey PUG! Your meal sounds so 'Southern Yummy'. TFS on the new marker finds.

Hey Ann! Glad you de-lurked here.

Hey to all other posters!

Didja notice I didn't 'Hey' Michelle?

'A Birthday 'Hey' for Michelle'

Oh she moved from Californee down to Florida to stay.
She brought her brood & visits Mobile on the bay.

She's aged a year,
But I just gotta say hooray...

'Cause despite the move our pal is always game to play!

So let's raise a glass,
To a friend with class,
And shout Happy Birthday & Yahoo!

End of ode... Now about this 'Emma has to wait 'til SOF to open'!. Why? You're going to provide us with an SOF challenge, right? So I plan to open my package soon as it arrives so I can see what i have to work with.

Yeah she's your DD, but she's also a StamPea & I know you're not gonna tell us we have to wait to open our Santa stuff. LOL & heavy guffaws!

Happy birthday Michelle!!!

Well I looked and found my first gallery post, which was a Saturday Card Challenge: First post

Just got back from visiting relatives out of town. Was a nice weekend and we attended a great orchestra concert.

As far as crafting---I practiced coloring with markers I took with me on our visit. Which made me think of our thread months back about WHERE else we stamp. And I thought of Daniel encouraging me to take some stamps out of the house! lol! Well I only had time to grab some markers--which is a first step for me, but after this weekend I DO think I am going to find some stamps and ink to take in a to-go bag when we visit relatives, etc.

Our weather has been kinda hot, but I'm staying inside so hasn't affected me much. Looking forward to our cooler temps and chance of rain later this week.

Stroganoff---yummy! But today is fish day and I received an email for a recipe of cod and tomato cream sauce. I don't have cream but I do have sour cream so I'm going to use that instead. May roast some okra and/or potatoes.

Have a good day everyone AND welcome to 2Peas Anne!! Glad you have joined in with us!!

Happy belated birthday Michelle! I hope you had a fabulous one!

I agree with Daniel, there isn't going to be any waiting to open my SS!!!!!! LOL!

The weather has been great here, will be warming up again by tomorrow. I am glad Fall has arrived and that we have had a little taste of it.

I am planning on cooking lasagna tonight. I haven't cooked this in a long time!

I made 2 cards today for 2 different challenges. They were pretty simple, but I just couldn't get the look I wanted on one and I spent awhile with that one!

I have loved looking at all the first projects that everyone has shown. Here is mine and then my last one too.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

Afternoon Happy Stampers!

ITA about the shared 'firsts'. Seems like many who've posted have been here lots longer than just a year or two--y'all are so great at being active.

New thermostat is working fine--'specially since mom says she doesn't know how to use it. A definite plus... Just made her some lunch--a mug of clam chowder & buttered saltines. Gonna do the pancakes & sausage for supper. Good day for comfort food--not cold, but rainy off & on. Debating doing a side of taters O'Brian &/or sauted bananas. Might hold off on the fruit & do that with tomorrow's supper--a small Missouri casserole.

Weather. As I said we have a rainy-ish day. Not heavy so far & not really cool. Temp is about 70. We had showers late last night. First inclement weather for the Fair, but I always like attending when there was rain. Cut down on the crowds--except in the exhibition halls.

Today's paper ran an article on some new food offerings by new vendors. The pretzle hoagie looks good (the roll is pretzle dough). Also there's a Waffle Wrap that looks yummy. Both items have a variety of fillings. Also would love to nosh @ the vendor doing chicken gizzards. Deep fried & yummy. Same place also does oxtails in pot roast style. This is making me hungry...

Craft front. Finishing up my SS package. Shipping tomorrow. Hope Michelle relented & allowed Emma to open hers. Speaking of SOF... Neat to see so many intriguing challenge titles!

Hope y'all are havin' a great Hump Day! Seeya later!

I'm also with the crew of folks who will open their SS package the moment it arrives. What a treat to get something like that in the mail! I can both sides of the story when it comes to a kid opening it though...

Melissa, good job taking your crafting items out! I still haven't done so...

Stampwilly, how was your lasagna. That is something I just don't make. I make it easy on myself and make ziti instead. Daniel, of those offering, I would love the pretzel bread (one of my favorites) and I would try the waffle item.

Today is a school holiday for both kids. Had a doctor appointment for most of the morning. Everything went well.

Here is my first upload:
First upload , a card I made for a baptism. It is fun to include these kind of links in our discussions. Fun to look at those for everyone else!

The weather is what I would call "iffy" today. Not sure if we'll have soccer practice tonight or not...

On the craft front, need to finish a sample card for my SOF challenge, and I have been experimenting for the current color challenge. I'm not where I want to be on that one!

Have a great day!

Two things:

Daniel...are you freezing your mother at 72 degrees? I remember when you posted that last year. Brrrr...somehow 72 degrees inside the house is much more colder than outside in the sun. Why is that?

FTR: Michelle did not "age" a year. She blessed the world with her presence for another year. Get it right!

Morning everybody! I have just a few minutes to try and catch up before I finish up my marathon cleaning. LOL
Out student from Germany will be here this evening. I haven't had any time to craft or even post!
Our weather is in the 60's. A little chilly but nice overall. We ordered Chinese the other night too Daniel! I love Chinese! Hubby is going to make a lasagna while our German student is here. She is a vegetarian but wants to try lasagna, lol. Maybe he'll make it with eggplant!
I am hoping to have time for crafting next week while they are in school! I have an online quilling class ongoing that I have barely gotten anything done for!
I am mailing my SS package today. Finally got it all together.
Here's my first card, and it was only a few months ago, LOL

Afternoon Happy Stampers! As Kathy's German guest would say--"Wie gehts?" (How's it going?).

LOL, Kathy. A vegetarian? That seems sooo 'wrong' for someone who lives in a country that practically invented sausage. BTW... Does your student do crafts? If not, I hope you can 'infect' her before she leaves. 'Veggie' lasagna. I've seen versions that replace the pasta with zuchinni sliced. I also like spinach lasagna, but add pepperoni to it. I'm a dedicated carnivore.

LOL Furry! Yep! I'm playing 'iceman' for mom! Actually? She doesn't get icicles on her nose until the inside temp drops to 70. I do agree that what feels warm/cool outside doesn't feel the same inside.

OK. Michelle has blessed us with another year. I, however, 'age'--like smelly cheese, vintage wine & cured ham, I ripen...

Did the blog setup for SOF per Anne & Daria's instructions. If you're hosting be sure to read the thread.

Had more showers than predicated yesterday into this morning. Looks like a chance of more later today into tomorrow with the stalled front. 'Sok. Not predicting a deluge.

We're going to make the grocery run tomorrow. Since it's end-of-month mom has meds to pickup & the pharmacy is close to the market. Also close to the Post Office so I'll mail my SS package tomorrow, too. (gives me time to stuff in a few more goodies--Love 'flat rate mailers'!)

Hope everyone is doing better-than-ok today! Drop us a few syllables!

Afternoon all! And happy belated birthday Michelle

I just made us himeade buffalo chicken pizzas for lunch and a cheese one for my little guy. Yummo. Now I'm stuffed. I usually just eat a salad or sandwich for lunch so dinner will probably be light.

Kathy, good luck with the cleaning. And vegetarian cooking! I don't mind eating meatless meals but the hubs requires it with his meals. He's a meat and potatoes man When I was pregnant I couldn't stand the sight or taste of meat(esp. chicken)except sausage kielbasa and steak. It was so weird! Ok that was random and off subject!

Weather here has been a bit warm but we should get a cool front this weekend.

Daniel, thanks for the heads up on the blog thread. I will get mine done today.

I've got a lot to do today and really want to get some crafting done. Probably not gonna happen but one can dream!

Have a good one!

My first ever gallery post was for a photo challenge to post a picture with bokeh. My first stamping related gallery item was for a non-traditional valentine here

That was less than 2 years ago and since then I've posted a lot of cards and photos for different challenges...hopefully I haven't posted my last one yet

A belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Meechelle. I hope it was fun and a good day for you. Sorry my wishes are late, life seems to be getting away from me lately hopefully things will calm down and I\ll get more on top of stuff next week.
Well, I can dream, anyway.

Morning StamPies! We had steady rain last nite into this morning. Good sleeping weather! Still a bit 'showery' so we're going to do groceries & such tomorrow.

Did the pancakes last night. They were good, but mom & I found the sausage lackluster. Not bad, just no oomph. Gonna make (frozen) pierogi for tonight. Not sure what else we'll have with it--maybe I'll do pork cutlets.

On the craft front... Making progress with my 'button-holer' idea for craftfoam. I did a successful version & have several other variations I want to try out. LOL to those who plan to enter my SOF challenge! Don't sweat! I'm keeping the challenge simple. Well...pretty simple (evil laugh)

Haven't seen Michelle around since her B-day. Hope she isn't stuck in traffic near Mobile.

Started a thread on doing 'quickie' gifts. Hope you'll share yours with us.

And hope to hear from y'all today. 'Til then have a good'un!

Hi Everyone! TGIF!

This morning I was the parent helper in DS's class, which was fun. I got to test them on their vocabulary and organize things. Many teachers no longer have parents come in to help, so I am grateful just to see what is going on. Last night was back to school for my other son and it was fun to meet the teachers and other parents.

LeighAnn, I want some of your buffalo pizza for lunch! What a yummy weekday lunch! Daniel, I like pierogies!

I think I have finished my samples cards for SOF12 challenge. I have a couple of the other challenges to complete - HA and color.

Anyone have any great weekend plans? I know Kathy will be busy entertaining the new exchange student. We will have soccer and helping a friend move.

Not much is happening here for the weekend. We did go out to eat Mexican last night. Hadn't had Mexican food in quite awhile, so that was a treat! Then stopped by Wal Mart to pick up a few things. I also made a card yesterday for the Technique Tuesday that I do each week. I may do some more crafting later today. Not much in a creative mood right now. Cloudy and drizzly here today. I don't know how much rain we will get, we sure do need it. Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Heidi. The pierogies were tasty. I made up the minis & since there was a good buy (3 for $6) @ the market, I replenished our supply. Mom mostly likes them baked/fried only, but I like to (occasionally) just poach them in water & add to a chicken broth with shavings of carrot & fresh spinach. Polish Wonton Soup. The mini 'rogies are nice 'cause I can just thaw enough for a bowl of soup.

Willy. Yeah. Looks like a rainy weekend for some in the South. Enjoy the rain & the crafting break.

Weather here is overcast, cool & damp, but not bad. We did errands this morning--got mom's meds, groceries & I mailed my Santa package. Not sure what's for 'eats' today, but tomorrow is mom's fried chicken! Other than smashed taters & gravy, not sure what else.

Today is last day of the Fair. They had a good week. There was something I wish I'd been able to experience. A butterfly tent. For a small fee, you get to enter an enclosure where hundreds of butterflys surround you. The owners raise several butterfly species. Sounds cool & today's paper had a photo of butterfly perched on a boy's nose.

Not sure what I'll do with the rest of today, but hope y'all have a good'un!

Hi all!

Good to hear how everyone's going! It's a long weekend here, so that's nice - DH home for an extra day, and we have a family BBQ to go to tomorrow - I'm looking forward to that.

I've finally worked up the motivation to start on my SOF challenge example piece - the fact that it took me a while is not a reflection on the task!! It's going to be fun, really, really..... No, I've just been a bit lazy craft-wise, lately!

I'm not going to link my "first" project, as a protest, because for us it wasn't the first week of Spring (or Autumn, for that matter). No, it's just cause I can't be bothered! (and if I'm going to do anything complicated like that, i'd better sort out my SOF blog!).

Daniel, I've been to a Wildlife place where they had a butterfly room like that and it was pretty cool! It's kind of a bit scary at first (if you're squeemish like me), but definitely a great experience (and my tiny DD loved it, and chased them around).

Kathy, I hope the Vegan visit is going well - is she Vegan or Vegetarian? You've said both. My cousin is Vegan and it's pretty restrictive! It's a pain for family get-togethers, but I've adjusted to it over the years and usually cook something specially for her if I'm hosting (rather than just providing salad and fruit like I used to!)

I think Michelle must have partied too hard for her birthday and that's why she's been MIA - Michelle, if you're out there... Hope it was a great birthday!

Have a great week, everyone!

Wow! Snow already! I wonder how our winter will be here in the lower 48! Cooler today and I hear much cooler tomorrow with rain.

I just grilled hamburgers and hotdogs for lunch. I have been uploading some things for my blog. Now I hope to do some crafting!

I got my SS in the mail yesterday! Whoooo-hoooo! Can't wait to use some of it for the SS challenge!

I hope everyone has had a good weekend. I am looking forward to tomorrow evening when I will be going to my local stamp club meeting. We are having a shoe box party -- the theme is to have 2 textures on your card!

Snow??? it's too early for that! hehehe.
Well, we survived the weekend! Our German exchange student arrived late Thursday night and then they had to go to school Friday! Hardly any sleep. Friday night they went to a scary movie and Wal-Mart shopping at midnight, hehehe.
ChristinMay, she is vegetarian I think. I think the issue is translation, lol. She eats dairy and she's only been vegetarian for a few months. So... She has had a hamburger! And we took her to sushi last night so she ate fish too. I think she's being lax while she is here to try some 'American' food.
We went to a bbq with the other families, 95 people, Saturday! And Sunday we went to one of the indoor water parks. They had a blast. Back to school today. I made them ride the school bus. Gotta experience that right?
Haven't gotten any crafting done, and she doesn't do crafts... boo! hehe
Off to work today, then maybe the rest of the week I can get a few cards done. Did do a kit Halloween card. came out cute. Sent it off to Switzerland with some Halloween decorations since they don't have much there.
Gonna make veggie stir fry tonight. Everyone likes that!
Happy Monday!
