Since SOF is only 2 weeks off, I thot we might run our general chat up to its opening day.

Kathy in WI actually was first today. Think I figured out how to link to her post. We'll see... Kathy's post.

LOL, Kathy! Sounds like you're having fun with your visiting student. Terrific! Veggie stirfry sounds yummy. 'Course I'd add shrimp. Thing I like about veggie stirfrys is being able to slip in different veggies. Gives mom a chance to taste some new ones that's fairly painless (she has a limited range of liked vegetables).

I did fried chicken yesterday. Came out ok. Mom has an afternoon Dr.'s appt today so we're just gonna warm up leftovers.

Didn't get any rain yesterday & today is sunny & breezy. Cool, but not cold (for me). Tomorrow's supposed to be rainy, but warmer. Predicting high 70s for thurs., then dropping off a bit. Nice fall weather.

Still not seeing much color change in the leaves, but that might change if we get a few cold nights. None predicted thankfully for the fuel bill.

Kind of betwixt & between on the craft front. I want to try to get my craftfoam examples done so they can be scanned/photo-ed. Hope to have that done by opening day.

Got my Santa package from LickeyAnn. FUN stuff! Lots of truly neat stamps. Think I can use some in my CF projects & (maybe) SOF challenges. We'll see...

Hope everyone's doing better-than-ok today. And hope to hear from y'all soon!

Hi All, I did go over and read the new posts on the old thread. Kathy, you sound BUSY!!! I'm glad the vegetarianism is not causing you too much trouble-- sounds like the student has some sense in wanting to try American cuisine while they are here.

It is a lovely day today, sunny and just warm enough. I have seen more color change than usual at this time (I think!)

This morning I went to Joanns just to look around, and got a sheet of craftfoam! Just in case I can't find my stash. Didn't see any stamps I wanted there...they have a small selection.

Also stopped at the home store and picked up mums, pansies, new playsand and a couple new throw rugs for the entries.

Had a pleasant weekend. In addition to the cleaning up, DS's soccer game was fun, yet very chilly! He is the lead scorer on the team, and they don't keep score, but if they did (ha-ha, all the kids know the score!) they would be undefeated. He didn't get any athletic talent from me... My other DS was under the weather just slightly over the weekend, but was better for school this morning.

Probably won't get any crafting done today as I need to plant the flowers and am babysitting for a friend today. Have a great one, all!

LOL, Heidi! You are a definite soccer mom! WTG Team!

Turns out I was incorrect on the leaf color! When we went to mom's Dr. appt. there were some gorgeous technicolor trees along the way & I am beginning to see color on the hills that surround our town.

The dogwoods are turning here -- always the first ones to turn color. We don't usually have peak color until the 3rd weekend of Oct.

Have run errands all day on this very chilly, rainy day! Now getting ready to go to my local stamp meeting tonight for a shoe box party! Looking forward to it!

Hi everyone! We've had family in town visiting for last week. I see there have been lots going on--which is great! and I it may take me a few days to get all the thread readin' caught up!

No leaves changing here! I like to look up the Fall Foliage Map on weather.com to see where the leaves are changing (I usually have to google "fall foliage map" and then click which ever link is the weather.com one to find the map).

The talk about shrimp reminded me we're making shrimp fried rice sometime this week! yummy! But not tonight so I have to start thinking up something quick since it's getting close to supper!

Had lots of rain last week and I am so enjoying these cooler temps! I cannot believe that by the end of October (or first week of Nov) we will hit 32 degrees at least once! That's not too far away!

As far a cards, I have one I was working on before the family came into town, so I'll pick that one back up. Nothing fancy with that card, just coloring a daisy with my colored pencils, practicing shading. I know I already colored the shaded areas "wrong" according to the laws of physics and how shadows fall on the pedals of the flower, but oh well... It still looks life-like!

Of to figure out dinner! Have a good night everyone!

When something like that happens to me I just pretend that there is a mirror in front of the flower, reflecting light back at those weird angles...LOL...well, it could happen in RL.

LOL, Melissa! May you live forever! Your 'scientific' posts are always a delight! Ditto to you 'GC'!

While there are still times when I consider things like cast shadows & such, I don't sweat them as much as I used to--especially when I'm using stamp images rather than hand drawn ones.

That said, however, dealing with shadows & highlights is a fascinating subject--as well as a (possible) source of frustration for those who want to explore the process. Might be an interesting topic for a separate thread.

Willy. Dogwoods are so wonderful in their Fall color. The leaves often turn deep rich colors & the trees themselves assume a sculptured look.

We have lots of maples in our area--various species whose shapes & colors create wonderful vistas & vignettes. Very inspiring!

Today we getting rain. Somewhat steady, but no deluge. I like rainy days. Sis visited yesterday & brought us a batch of new mysteries to read--mostly cozies (which mom & I enjoy). I'm throwing together a tuna-noodle bake for supper. Nice easy one-dish meal. Might slip in some veggies to add a bit of vitamins & such. Mom can pick out what she doesn't like. Thinking a few (frozen) peas & some shrooms. Considering carrot shavings, but better not press my luck with mom. LOL!

Mom's Dr. appt went well. She got her flu shot.

Might work on some crafty stuff today. We'll see how it goes.

Hope everyone is having a good today...

Trying to get some cleaning done today. Had to run an errand for hubby, so that took awhile. Now I am about to go back to cleaning. My house really needs it! Started of a little rainy and cloudy, but the sun is out now. Warming up quite a bit. Will be in the 80s tomorrow! Eating leftovers tonight.

I'm trying a new way of doing the tuna noodle casserole. I didn't precook the noodles. May have added a bit too much liquid, but if it turns out awful I'll order takeout for mom & me (& beg her forgiveness)

We're between rain showers @ the moment.

HaHa Daniel. Way to wing it with the casserole! How did it turn out? I've tried it with penne pasta and it works (cooking noodles in the sauce with extra liquid).

I had a super inky day, and I have the stains on my hands to prove it!
I went to a 3 hour class at my LSS with Dyan Reavely. It was called Inky Kraft Resist. We made a mini album/journal using Tim Holtz resist kraft papers and Dyan's spray inks, stencils and stamps. We stitched smaller pages within the main pages using a basic binding stitch. Then all pieces (signatures?) were bound together using sticky back canvas.

Fun! Fun! Fun!

It was a little pricey, but I thought I should take advantage of the opportunity as Dyan rarely teaches in the US. She's from the UK. The store owner is a hoot too! She put a sign on the bathroom door, in a fancy frame that read "The Loo"! I'm taking another class with her on Thurs. morning.

Before Friday afternoon I need to make 30 cards. Yikes! Some friends and I are making 15 packages containing 5 different cards each. I'm responsible for birthday and get well. One friend is making "thank you" and "thinking of you", another is making a general friendship card. They will be sold at a concert called "Sing for the Cure". It's a fundraiser for my friend's "Walk for a Cure" team to raise money to fight Breast Cancer. We'll be walking in a few weeks. I think I'll go find that quick and easy card thread!

I hope you find time to get inky this week too!

Cindi, it sounds like you are really busy craft wise. I am going to a friend's house on Friday to stamp and another friend's house on Sat. to stamp! There will be several of us there each day! I need to make birthday cards. On Friday we are playing with supplies and ideas we saw at a stamp convention 2 weeks ago. Lots of fun!

Playing a bit of 'catch up'.

Cindi. The 'dry noodle' tuna casserole was yummy. The dry pasta absorbed lots of the sauce's flavor. Only drawback was that it required more 'tending' than the pre-cooked noodle version. I had to let the casserole bake longer & remember to stir it. Then add the crumb topping for the last half hour. Might try other ways of going the 'dry pasta' route, tho'.

Willy. Enjoy your get-togthers on Fri. & Sat. You always share so much with us from your IRL groups. Many thanks.

We've had rain showers since last nite. Pretty much off & on, but some have been steady rain. Not real cool today, but by the weekend & into next week it looks to get lots cooler. Chance of frost by next Tues nite. Not bad for October, tho'.

We're gonna do the grocery run tomorrow. Don't need lots. Mom & I have agreed on Swiss Steak for Sunday. I have a piece of london broil that needs using & mom likes my recipe (which changes every time I make it). LOL!

I'm simmering the chicken broth. I started it last saturday & it's been in the fridge since. Used only wings, but they so worked. When I brought it in to reheat the broth was jelly--sign of a rich broth. No fat 'cake' on the surface, tho'. Surprised me. Need to strain out the wings so we can deconstruct them for the meat & make up containers for the freezer.

Enough food stuff! Want to work on some crafty stuff.

Hope y'all are having a good day!

It is a beautiful day here today! I made a card for some challenges and started another card using micro fine glitter. Letting it dry so I can finish it. I am cooking chicken chili for tonight's dinner. Went to Wal-Mart and a grocery store this morning and stocked up on a few things. All in all a good day!

Whoa... it got cold this morning! The heater went on! So I have a day to do some crafty stuff! Yay! I am working on a couple of wedding cards. One for an anniversary and one for a wedding. They are the same but different papers.
And I'm working on my quilled calendar. Gonna do snowflakes.
We went to Taco Bell last night. It was a crackup! Our German student, Ann, hadn't been and really wanted to try it. So we bought just about one of everything! hahaha. And we split it all so she could try it all. It is her new favorite place (yes this is the vegetarian, LOL)Her favs were the chicken quesadilla and the Dorito Loco Taco!
Then I dropped them off at school this morning and it's 'Drive your tractor to school' day! hahaha. Cracked me up! I posted a pic on Facebook, all these tractors in the school parking lot. I want one!

LOL, Kathy! Tacos & Tractors! I love it my 'Deere'. Heard "Nothing runs like a Deere". Same is true for Taco Bell customers... Glad you & your visitor are having such fun.

Was really foggy overnight & it's just beginning to burn off. Otherwise looks like a nice day weatherwise. More rain predicted for late tonight & thru the weekend. Plus turning colder by Sunday.

Want to do laundry since today appears to be the best day to hang any outside. We'll make the grocery run tomorrow--don't need much.

Gonna continue getting some pre-work done for SOF.

How's it shaping up for others today? Have a good'un!

Morning, All!

Gotta get around & head out to make the grocery run this a.m. Want to go over our list with mom before hitting the store. Don't 'need' lots & I'd suggest avoiding the trip, but better just do it.

Weather is overcast with a slight chance of showers. Turning 'colder' by tomorrow. We made salmon soup (again) yesterday. It tasted really good. Mom wants Swiss Steak for Sunday. I have all the ingredients & I'm thawing a london broil to cut into some pieces. Won't use it all 'cause it's quite a large piece.

Best get moving, so seeyalater. Happy Today!

OK! It's 'later'... Just finished chatting with mom about the grocery list. Turns out we both agree--we don't need to make a grocery run today. We figure maybe monday or tuesday next week. Thank goodness for a well-stocked freezer & 2 refrigerators!

So pleased to see Michelle's 'back'! I realize we can't all post every day, but I definitely miss lots of our 'regulars' when they are 'gone' for a 'spate'. We have many of them these days & that's terrific!

SOF '12 is acoming closer--can't wait. So many challenges & more this year. Hope the Mayans are wrong, but if not we'll have a great party to take with us!

I do have some domestic chores to tackle, but definitely plan to start cleaning up my workspace (a bit) & get my challenge blogs ready to write. I'd like to make samples for both of my challenges, but I'm ok if I don't have all 'new' ones in place for the Craftfoam challenge. The 'Past/Present' one? Best find a 'past' I want to share & do a 'present', but I'm still working on the idea...

Y'all have a great Saturday!

Hello Everyone, how was your weekend? So, on Friday I had my a/c on, and last night we turned on the heat. brrr. Need to get used to this.

Yesterday was too rainy and cold so we weren't able to go to the punkin patch as planned. Instead we visited with friends and made an apple pie together. Other business was a bunch of scout popcorn sales outside different stores. Everyone was nice, but sales aren't going as well as expected.

Today, I am working on a sports card for a child whose party is this weekend. It is going pretty well. I am letting some of the ink dry right now.

I also have a ton of errands to do this week and some "bigger" cleaning jobs in the house. I am motivated to get some of this done so I will have more time for SOF12!!! This whole fall is going so fast!

Kathy, that is fun about the Tractor day!! I grew up in a country-ish area, and I had never heard of that! It is spirit week in the schools this week, so lots of fun themes for clothing each day.

I noticed the Card Sketch thread for this week is going strong. Also Marcia has a new color challenge with a unique card shape. Don't forget the HA challenge either.

Hey guys! Long time no chat!

Ive been super busy with just the everyday stuff and I've had some computer issues so I haven't been able to post much lately. Its fixed now. Whew, what did we do before the internet. Probably get lots more stuff done!

I have been lurking on my phone. I don't like to post a lot from it b/c it takes me forever to type anything out!

We've had some great fall weather. It's suppose to warm up a little bit and some rain a little later this week. We took a trip to the pumpkin patch last week. My son loved it and had the best time. We will defintwley be going back for more visits.

Food front, I've planned lots of crock pot meals for the Stamptoberfest. Like Daniel and Heid, I've been working on some domestic chores this week trying to get some stuff done so I can play more next week. We'll see how that goes!

Lots of fun threads to check out.
Daniel posted one about lurkers, I lurked for a long time before joining, so glad I delurked. I've learned a lot this year. Not just techniques, but my stamping style as well. And this is by far the nicest stamping community!

Heidi started a good thread about re working your projects. I always look at my projects to see what I might do differently and I always appreciate feedback. But I never have reworked anything yet.

Well, it is super late and I need to catch up on some zzzz's! Have a good one!

Morning All!

Haven't posted on 'chat' since Saturday, but did post elsewhere on our forum so I'm not lurking (per se)

Food front update... Sunday's Swiss Steak was very good. Have just a bit of the sauce as a leftover. Helped mom make her homemade noodles on Monday. She did most of the work, but cutting & unrolling the noodles so they dry a bit is time-consuming so I gave her a hand. She says they're yummy & I froze 6 meal (for her) size portions. It's not something I eat unless I must--& I don't have to so... We still haven't made a grocery run this week--probably thurs or fri. Need to run down the block & get some milk today, tho'.

Had rain overnite into early this morning. Cleared off nicely, tho', so I doing laundry. Cool, but not cold & just breezy enough so line hung pieces should dry nicely--'specialy bedding & towels.

On the SOF front... I still plan to write my details for challenges tomorrow (thurs)--just in case I run into any problems. Trying to do all the writing on friday & correct/fine tune anything is just a bit too much for me.

Gotta check the washer. Hope to chat & such later. Y'all have a good'un!

I went to Bible study this morning. I then went to Hobby Lobby to get one thing, but you know how it goes, I came out with much more! LOL! Then on to do a few more errands. Hubby and I are going out to eat Bang Bang shrimp at Bonefish Grill tonight. They have a deal on it on Wednesdays. It is a very spicy dish and sooooo good! very sunny here and much warmer today. Hope everyone is enjoying Hump day!

Hi all, last weekend was Thanksgiving weekend in Canada, so I cooked turkey on Sunday for the immediate family and then a roast beef on Monday night when my BIL came over for a visit.

Lots of yummy leftovers for lunches, and last night's dinner, but tonight things were getting skimpy so I made spaghetti with tomato and sausage sauce and garlic bread. I have no idea yet what to do for tomorrow.

I worked a bit on my sample for the challenge I'm hosting, so I'll finish that tomorrow ( I hope) and try to get some work done on another idea I have, that isn't SOF related, but just something I'd like to try. Also have to write up the description of my challenge so I'll be ready to post it. And, like Daniel, I'll be trying to organize my work space a bit so things will be easier to find, and I'll have a bigger flat area to work on when SOF12 hits.

Morning everybody! Boy it sure did turn cold fast. Seems like last year the temp tapered down a bit at a time. This year it seems to have gone from 80 to 50 in an hour! hehehe.
Well, we're finally recovering around here. Daughter is still tired but the weekend is almost here. I have time today to do some crafting so I think I will do some Halloween cards for my grandkids. And work on my quilled calendar some more.
Daughter wants to be pescaterian now. Oh kids these days!

Morning All!

Kathy. Cool here, but we're not getting big temp swings. Chance of getting our 'killing' frost friday night, but then it's supposed to warm up by sunday. Mom & I are talking about going out for Sunday dinner if it's as nice as predicted.

Pescaterian? Fish doctor? Heard lots of them live in 'Fin-land'...

Couple of pre-SOF chores I want to tackle today & promised mom I'd make her a shrimp, veggie, pasta stirfry for supper. She went for her hair appt. this morning & got a perm. Looks ok. And they celebrated Oct. birthdays @ the salon, so she had cake for breakfast--she's a happy camper!

Debating doing banking & groceries today, too. I'm not really in the mood, but might be worth the effort. Either way, I have to rewrite the store list.

Best get cracking on some of this. The laundry turned out good yesterday. The pieces blew dry on the line & smelled so fresh. Mom said her bed & jammies smelled & felt good. I earned some bonus points.

April, I can totally relate to going to just about any store for one thing and walking out with a bagful!

Kathy, is your exchange student already gone?

Daniel, that is nice that you helped your mom with the noodles. Sounds a lot like the ones my aunt used to make.

LeighAnn, how are you doing with your chores? I am behind. My list keeps growing two items for each one I check off. Today is laundry.

Had to get up at o'dark thirty this morning to get to a dr appointment. Everything went well, we are changing meds and protocols to manage my younger son's asthma. I think it is a beautiful day -- cool and sunny.

This week I did get some Halloween cards done, but I want to do more. I want to send one to each of my nieces and nephews, and depending on how I define those terms, it could be a few more, or quite a few more... I've also started picking up candy to pass out for trick or treaters. We get a boatload of them. I enjoy passing out candy for the most part.

I can't believe SOF12 is just about here. Have a wonderful day, all!

Good afternoon!

It felt just a teeny bit cooler this morning when I went for a walk, and maybe just a little less humid. Believe it or not we can feel "fall" in South Florida if we really pay attention, haha!

I worked on my challenge blog last night, not posted yet but hopefully it won't be too much trouble when the time comes. All the links are in place for the blog and the discussion thread.

I have an idea for a "drive by" challenge too!

Yippee! SOF12 is almost here! Yikes, I better clear some space!
Are you ready?

Lots of fun ahead! I've been making a list of challenges I want to start working on for Stamptoberfest. Is everyone ready?!

Heidi, I did get most of of chores done and am hoping to finish up some more stuff tonight.

It's a dreary day here but I kinda like those days from time to time.

I fixed my easy lasagna for dinner tonight, so lots of leftovers for tomorrow and some to freeze.

Hope everyone's doing well today!

I went to the store after work and bought shrink plastic and a sheet of craft foam. Glad to see some of the challenges posted!!! My time for crafting is very limited so I'm glad I have a chance to think about a few of these tonight.
