This thread is now the 'official' one for my challenge

I will answer any questions about the challenge & this is where you will link both your past & present projects

You will have to have 2 things in order to play.

1. You must have a previous project that employed image stamping & that project must be able to be linked to Challenge thread. While I prefer that your link be to a 2Ps gallery, it is not a requirement, per se.

2. You must have access to the stamp(s) used in the original project. If you also have access to other materials used in the original? Cool, but not necessary.

For those who have no projects viewable? 'Sok. That's why I'm doing this heads-up. You have time to get a piece done & ask someone to upload it for you if you are unable to do it yourself.

For this challenge 'past' will mean prior to Oct. 13. I will ignore any entry whose 'past project' is uploaded on/after 10/13.

Here's your chance to show your stuff!

Questions welcome!

Very mysterious!

So, we have to have at least one project uploaded to our 2Ps gallery (preferably) before SOF12 start ... and that project should have at least one image (as in non-sentiment) stamp on it. Right?

For people who just "discover" us here at Two Peas during the event, could they link to a past project on say Flickr or on an old blog post of theirs if the old date is shown?

Or for people like me, who don't always post all my projects here at 2Ps, could I pick a project off 2Ps as my "past" one?

Excellent 'Qs', Anne!

You are correct on what 'past' means for this challenge. The project must have been placed in whatever gallery you use prior to the SOF opening. That will be true for those who discover the challenge during the party.

This will prevent players from making a 'present' piece & calling it 'past'--not that anyone here would do that.

And, as I've said, this heads-up gives folks with no shown projects a chance to get a piece on display before SOF. I'm being very liberal about what a 'past' is for this.

Also a 'must have' is the stamps used in the original.

Glad you find this mysterious, Anne. It's meant to be & I think it will be great fun...

Thanks for answering my questions, Daniel! And I'm glad to hear that New Stamping Peas might be able to play, too!

As you 'should' see, this is now the challenge thread.

I've tried to make this as clear (& simple) as I can, but will certainly understand if there are questions.

One possible question I can already see... "If I'm working on a card 'set' & have already shared some prior to 10/13, may I use them as my 'past' & do a 'present' with the stamps?"

Technically? Yeah. But I'm hoping we'll all try to go a bit further in our pasts--if possible.

So, we can do basically any new project, as long as it uses all the same stamps as we used in the 'past' project? The new project doesn't have to be the same thing as the past project, e.g. a 'present' ATC could be done and linked to a 'past' greeting card?

Daniel, do we have to include the same sentiment (if it's a stamp) as the past project? Probably more fun if we do! Adds to the challenge.

Sounds fun. (I have a very short stamping history, though!)

You've got it, GC! I'm actually hoping most players will go the route of doing a different 'present' & your example is a good one. TY!

Christin. Yes. You must use all the past stamps--including sentiment ones. You may actually be in better shape for this challenge since you don't have a lot of 'history'.

Heidi. I'm in your boat far as choosing a 'past' project. Even recent 'pasts' are going to force me to hunt for the stamps. LOL!

Hmmm. Even though I am a long-time scrapbooker I JUST started lurking the stamping board a few weeks ago. I posted my first ever original stamped card (not counting make-and-takes at events) last week for the Saturday sketch challenge. I may have the most recent "past"- after all it was prior to Oct 13!

Sophikins. I looked @ your gallery. Great 'witchy' piece! (have to go back & leave praise/comments).

I'm guessing the witch & sentiment are stamps? If so--Great! I can see lots of ways to do a 'present' project with them. I could see Ms. Witch being stamped & fussy cut. Reassembled with brads she would make a great 'moveable' piece (check out that challenge).

Daniel, If an ENTIRE stamp from our past project was used then we need to use the entire stamp again correct? Not just a portion of it....

And what about if we do use the entire stamp but ink different portions of it to use separately on the new card (does that make sense)?

I'm just brainstorming here and these are some thoughts....

Melissa! Know what I like about you? You're durn near as crazy as me!!! I'm gonna have to check the weather channel & see if your brainstorming shows on radar!

I think I 'see' where you're going with some of your 'Qs' & I like!

Long as the 'past' project shows complete stamp images, I'm comfortable with the 'present' project employing parts of the image--long as they are recognizable as images from the past project (you figure that one out, pal! )

Yesterday, I went to my gallery and started going through my cards. I started on the last page and somewhere around page 13, the darn page wouldn't turn. I finally got tired of waiting a few minutes for every page to turn and gave up. I will try again.

When I was looking, I was surprised to see that, with the exception of background stamps, I almost always use one stamp. That makes this a bit difficult. But it's suppose to be a challenge. Right?

It was a struggle but I did it!

The tough part for me too, was finding the stamps or at least one of the stamps. Guess when you realize that the 'past' project was from last years 'clutter' challenge you'll know why it was so difficult.

Just to clarify one other thing, the original card has the sentiment BOO! on a piece of PP and I started looking for that stamp, only to realize that it wasn't a stamp at all, I just wrote BOO on the PP with a black marker, so I didn't include that on the 'present' project'

LOL on the 'Boo', GC! I've done that, too--looking for a non-existant stamp. You nailed the challenge!

Daria. It's perfectly fine if the past project only has 1 stamp image And BG stamps are fine, too--long as they are recognizable on the present project. OK?

I about went crazy trying to find the sentiment stamp. Which is sad because it was in a cd case and stamped on the index for the case. I just kept not seeing it.

Here's mine:
8 in 1

And the past card was one of my samples from SOF last year: Past

I used paper piecing for both of these cards, but used completely different patterned papers and some different embellishments to give them different looks. Thanks for the challenge!

Looser, this was an awesome challenge because I love the stamp I used here and you encouraged me to look at it in a new way. And that is always a bonus! Thanks for hosting.

Such a treat to see all the different takes on past & present--great work everyone!

Marshia. I love the blossom stamp! I could so see it being cut into separate petals & used to build a 3D flower or the skirt for a ballerina...

Thanx for playing Anne & April! I'll leave praise later--getting used to this new format.

Willy! Great pieces, but... Your 'past' project has 3(?) stamps. You have to use all the past ones in the present piece--that's the tough part of the challenge.

Here is my project that I combined with the Wax Paper challenge. I have one more card I wanted to redo, but that may not happen till hangover week. This was fun, Daniel! Thanks for hosting!

Present Card

Past Card

I actually like both my cards equally, but it was fun to change them up slightly.
