Update: I've edited the thread title so folks have some idea of what this swap/challenge is.

Yes! I do know that many of us are still dealing with SOF12, but once we get thru this party, we are presented with a long haul of 'no-party'!

Really! All we have to deal with over the next few months are minor things like Thansgiving, Christmas, Hannukah & yadda, yadda...

We had a good time doing the 'Send You' challenge/swap & had StamPeas who missed out the first time. Some even wanted a repeat of that Swap so they could join. Good for them! And 'silly' them 'cause this guy's repeats are never identical!

So here's what I'm suggesting for this version... We use the 'shoebox' idea that StampWilly has shared with us. And we decide how many folks we are willing to provide 'kits' for. Said kits will include a copy of our project & the materials we used so the swapmate(s) can duplicate or make their own version.

Unlike the previous 'Send YOU', this one would not limit us to one-stamp-envelope.

I'm also leaning toward an ornament/gift theme for our swapped projects. That doesn't mean 'cards' are not possible.

So... Can we talk?

Ah-h,this could be yet another spin on the hoarder's challenge. One could create their project around using speciality items that they happen to have in abundance.

Jan. That's an excellent suggestion!

I'm still thinking this swap thru & really want lots of suggestions/input from others.

One thing I'm already rethinking is that we would only make & send one 'kit' each. That way no one is obligated to make more than one original. I'm not fond of making duplicates, either.

I'm also thinking we'd take allow most of Nov. for making & sending.

Additionally... Your swapmate does not have to duplicate the piece you provide. Long as they use what you've used (provided) they can add to the supplies.

And as a 'twist', each swapper keeps the piece they receive & sends their 'take' to another swapper (not the one who sent it). That way we really get to share ideas even farther.

None of this is 'in stone' so feel free to share your thots.

Love this idea!
I realize you're still in the planning stage, but I KNOW that I want to play too.

The only disadvantage I can think of to the "twist", would be TWO trips standing in line at the PO during the holiday season.
But then, I'll probably have to make a few trips anyway.

It's almost 11:00 pm and my brain is sort of fuzzy now and I have no input. When you iron out the details, let me know and I'm in.

When you say "Said kits will include a copy of our project & the materials we used so the swapmate(s) can duplicate or make their own version. " Are you suggesting that we would send paper, ribbons, embellys, ink and stamps? Everything?

I don't want to be a wet blanket but...
My concern is that this could get pretty expensive. And during the holidays especially, that might make it prohibitive. It would for me. Just a thought.

If we use this model, I think we would leave any ink, paint, embossing powder, bulkly items like that out of the "kit." Although I think you kindof have to include embellishments and ribbon. You could also send already stamped images instead of the stamps, a punch or die cut instead of the punch or die.

I think the idea is to create a "version" of the card and not an exact duplicate. It actually could be kindof interesting to approach it as creating your version of the card with those materials, and then an additional version of the card using your own materials, like we do when we do Kimber's card sketch.

I think I am talking myself into this idea...

Heidi, What a great idea for an alternative. I like the idea!

You could also send already stamped images instead of the stamps, a punch or die cut instead of the punch or die.

That would get the costs into the manageble range. I'm back in & listening with interest. Thanks!

LOL, Marshia! You are not a 'wet blanket'--maybe just a bit damp on the edges (kidding!). You've done what I requested--raised points that are more-than-valid! Let me attempt to tackle them...

Let's say I decide to make & send a regular 'ole' card (right!) & I use PP, CS, 2 stamp images, 3 diecuts, ribbon & a partridge in a pear tree (couldn't resist ). What do I have to send my swapmate?

I send her my original card and just the fixings I used. I'm not sending her actual stamps, inks or adhesives.

Now that may raise another question... What if I want to stamp directly on my card? I say "don't". That way you can send just images. What if I fussy cut my stamped images? Do I have to fussy cut them for my swapmate? Up to you! Remember! This isn't 'just' a swap. It's also a challenge. You know I love 'combos'.

Far as the 'twist' requiring 2 mailings? LOL, Ruby! I hearya! But as you say we do a bit more mailing during this period & I figure the twist is a good'un!. Makes this version of 'Send YOU!' even more of a round robin.

By all means keep the questions & suggestions coming. At this point I'm seeing the following players (correct me if I'm wrong):
Daniel
Jan
Ruby
Heidi
Beady

I'm planning to write the blog for this by the weekend. With the input so far, I'm feeling pretty good about how this version can work. Might do PMs to those who joined us on the first version or wanted to play & missed out. Not sure.

Either way, I figure we'll shoot for doing our making & sending thru November so we have plenty of time. Some of us work faster than others, but figure we can all do this so we're 'done' by 1st week of Dec.

Plenty of time remaining for your input & I plan to keep the requirements to a minimum. That way the 'YOUs' can make their stuff (kits & projects) as 'YOU-ish' as possible.

Missed a whole bunch of posts to the thread--silly me!

Ok, folks! I wrote the Swap blog. I can tweak/edit as necessary.

For those who did not participate in 'Send YOU!) #1, here are links to that blog & thread.

We already have StamPeas willing to play & I don't want to 'dis' them. But I think they won't mind if I start a new 'send' list. Your position in the list will be based on date/time of you post that says you are playing. Your post must be a 'firm' commitment, however.

Sender #1 ME! Who's next?

Ok, I think I understand. I am in! I will probably come up with questions along the way though.
Like... do we include our card, plus enough goodies to make 2 more so it can't be sent on? Or we send on our finished card from the goodies we were sent?

Thanx to all who have joined (re-joined) so far. They are (in order):
1. Looser/Daniel
2. Beady
3. SWLady
4. Heidi
5. Marshia

Since we're going to keep the 'regular' sign-up open 'til Nov. 1, I wouldn't rush to ship anything at this point, but...

You can start figuring out & making your project & assembling your 'send' kit*.

Your project may be a card, ATC, bookmark, ornament, or anything you want to make. It can be pure paper or other materials--metal, craftfoam, plastic, fabric or any combination.

The *kit will consist of enough materials so your swapmate can duplicate what you made. BUT! The swapmate does not have to make a duplicate of your project. They can make a totally different project so long as it uses all the materials you send them.

Once your swapmate has made their project from your 'kit', they will keep your original & pass their 'make' onto the person below them on the list.

Example: I send Beady a craftfoam & metal ornament with stamping. My kit contains whatever I used to make my project--including prestamped, prepunched/diecut elements as necessary--so she can make her own ornament. But Beady decides to turn the provided kit into a bookmark. Long as she uses all of the stuff in the kit (& she's free to add stuff), it's cool. She will keep my ornament & send her bookmark to SWLady.

When we complete this swap/challenge, each of us will have 2 projects in our possesion--the original 'kit' project from our sender & the project they made from their sender's kit. A 2-fer! For SWLady that means she'll have 2 projects from Beady. One included in the package Beady sends her & the second based on the kit I sent to her (Beady).

HTH, but feel free to ask if it's still unclear.

Yay, Ruby!!! You're #7 on the list.

Reminder. Where you are on the list determines who you will be shipping to. That means #1-6 can make & send their original & kit starting now. Ruby will have to wait until another StamPea signs on so she knows where to send her 'YOU' package.

If you don't have a shipping address for your Swapmate (the person just below you on the sign-up list) contact them.

Speaking of sign-up... In fairness to all those already signed-on, I'm thinking of making the sign-up deadline Nov. 3 rather than trying to add additional players later. Your thots?

Also... I will be contacting those who played during the first 'Send YOU!' to give them a direct 'heads up' for this version.

Kathy. No theme & no project type--make & kit whatever you wish.

For those who have only ever done one kind of project--cards, ATCs, etc., you're free to challenge yourself by doing something new-for-YOU. But it is not a requirement.

This swap has only ONE requirement--have FUN!

And feel free to chat (off thread) with your swapmate if you'd like. Again. That's up to the 2 of you.

On this week's 'chat' thread, Heidi asked about 'dates'. Here's my thinking...

Nov.3: Last day to sign-up for the swap.

Nov.17: Original projects & kits mailed to swapmates--earlier is fine.

Nov.30: 2nd project mailed (made from the kit we receive) to swapmate.

Thots & comments?

Just got a 'private' question about this swap. Don't mind, but...Please post specific 'Qs' on our thread so we can all benefit.

Question concerns 'coloring'. The StamPea asked if she should pre-color the image she is putting in her kit so it matches her project.

Short answer. Up to you! I don't plan to go that route. Since 'duplicating' is only one possibility, I much prefer to leave some 'blanks' so my swapmate can have the greatest latitude in doing their project from the kit materials.

And don't forget! Long as you include the materials in your 'received' kit, you are welcome to add to your project from your stash/hoard.

LOL! Been playing 'catch up' reading my PMs & emails. Got another one that concerns this version of 'Send YOU!'

The writer opined that I "should have made a rule that they can't copy exactly". Meaning the project they receive.

She wasn't being troublesome & backed up her comment with her reasons which are perfectly valid--for her.

That said? Part of the joy of hosting a swap/challenge is the power to set the 'rules'.

Note: We are just beginning to explore swaps on our forum & I really hope that more StamPeas will consider hosting them--especially the StamPea whose comment I refer to. I look forward to seeing her host a swap for us! I know it will be as unique & talented as her own (sweet) self...

Swappers! You might want to scan/photo your project & kit before sending it off. That way if your swapmate can't (that would be me) you have a way to share it with the rest of us. Same for the project you make from the kit you receive. OK?

LOL, Lickey! That's the spirit!

Yay, Heidi! I thot about this, too. Thanx for asking. Here's my 'take'...

Since this Swap/Challenge has a longish time frame for making & mailing, I think it would help keep up enthusiasm to share pix of our project & kit as soon as we have them put together & sent off to our swapmate. Far as the '2nd' project we're sending our swapmates? Long as it's in the mail, I think it would be ok to share it before they get it.

As many of us have said numerous times... While the pix are fun to see, they are not the same as having the actual project to hold in our eager hands.

I realize that some folks will prefer to be 'surprised'. That's fine. If you don't want your sender to share before you see the stuff first, contact your 'Sender' & let them know (PM/email).

Part of the fun (for me) of these types of Swap/Challenges is the conversation we have as we participate--kinda like 'trash talk' on BINGO.

Ultimately I leave it up to each of us to decide when we will share what we've done or doing.

HTH

Kathy in WI, I mailed your kit yesterday. Let me know if you want me to hold off putting the finished product in my gallery.
