Morning All! How's by you?

Here abouts we enjoyed 2 days of sun & fairly warm temps, but the cold front pushed in last nite around 10pm with gusty wind & rain. Watched out our front door as loads of leaves scuttled up the street & rain went sideways. 'Sok! Fewer leaves for me to rake. It's not arctic out, but definitely colder. On the bright side we're in for several dry days.

We ordered Italian takeout last nite. Got chicken parm for Mom & I got cheese ravioli with meatballs. We shared from one another's meals & each had an accompanying salad. Have leftover salad & some of the chicken with spaghetti. Might do kielbasa & pierogies for supper today.

Mom went out this morning to get her car inspected. No problem. They replaced the wipers & otherwise her vehicle is in good shape. She's only put 200 miles on it since her garage visit last year.

I'm trying to finish up some things on the craftfront. Still a bit stalled with my 'Send YOU', but getting closer. Pulled some stamps to think about Heidi's 'Giftcard' challenge.

Hope y'all are doing better than OK & get the time to drop a post this week.

I got home from staying with my mother-in-law last night around 6:30. She is getting stronger. She will get re-evaluated Thursday to see if she will need to continue the 24 hr. care. It is about 12 degrees cooler here today, but very sunny. It was cloudy most of my drive home yesterday, but I like it because it is better on your eyes. I ran into some showers here and there. The rest of the week looks sunny and cooler here. Planning on snow crab legs, rice and a salad tonight. Will stink up the house real good!!! LOL! I need to upload my cards and all for the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog hop coming up on Wednesday. Come join in to win some prizes if you want! I hope everyone is having a good day!

LOL, Willy! Love good 'stinks' from food! Stinky cheese is one of my faves, but crab, lobster & such is right in there, too! I've had a hankering for a good creole seafood & might just indulge before T-Day! Love the 'trinity' as a base & sloppy on rice is a fave!

Hope the results for MIL are all positive!

I hearya with the overcast being easier on the driver's eyes!

I'm glad that you are home safely from caring for your MIL, Stampwilly. I hope she continues to get better. I also prefer driving when it is cloudy. Especially driving west at sunset.

Italian sounds good. Was going to make spaghetti and meatballs last night and realized I had no tomato sauce or ingredients to make it. Whoops!

I thought about making tgiving napkin rings, but when I sat down to craft, I ended up working on a very spring-like craft instead. No idea how that happened. I also need to do my xmas/train/thank you card for my mom still.

Today I made some important calls, went to a school function and did grocery shopping. Still need to make a couple more calls, and then try to get to the post office. Some time I need to make time to run around to more stores to find a train gingerbread house. We have a tradition of doing these after Thansgiving, and I stupidly suggested a train version and now I can't find one. I prefer to purchase the kits since they are so much easier for kids (and adults!) and they are inexpensive.

Hey all. It's been snowing here! Not sticking though. Although there is some ice on our deck, leftovers, hehehe
Heidi... Bed Bath and Beyond has gingerbread train kits. You can order it online too.
Daniel, I'm with ya... I'm a bit stuck on my send you also, but I am going to finish it tomorrow, regardless!
Cleaning yet again... daughter in law and grandson are coming next week for Thanksgiving. So I may not be around much. Gonna get all my stuff sent before Friday which is when they arrive.
I'm trying to figure out a small crafty item to give to my bowling ladies. There are 12. Last year I made little coin purses out of Christmas fabric. In the hoop project on my machine. They went together pretty quickly. Another lady made snowflake ornaments so I can't do that... any ideas? something that will go together fairly quickly?
Well, back to cleaning!

I had this big long post I typed up last night and it's not here! Same thing with some other threads I posted on! So lets try this again!

I'm glad to see everyone's doing well!

Daniel, I can't wait to see the latest round of the send YOU's! It sounds like such a fun swap

Stampwilly, I hope your mother in law is on the mend. How nice of you to stay with her. I loved your stamp club cards you shared.

Heidi, I do that all the time when I sit down to work on a particular project! Its been years since I've done a gingerbread house. I may have to do one this year.

Kathy, have you checked pinterest for gift ideas? I've found several there and most are inexpensive and easy to mass produce. You could make some coaster sets, key chains, or one that I made last year was a dollar store picture frame, some patterned paper/cardstock and made a tabletop dry erase board. It was a big hit.

I've been super busy lately working on some christmas gifts I'm making. Last week we went to visit some family and I was able to work on some of my cardsets. I've got some other gifts I'm making as well but I want to get the cardsets finished first.

Weather front, its back to cooler temps here. Not too bad though.

Food front, made spaghetti last night but not sure what I'm gonna do tonight. I need to start thinking about next week too and plan out the menu. It's hard to believe its turkey day next week. Time flies!

Hope everyone's having a good week, I will check back later on!

Kathy, I'm planning on trying a stamped ornament for a gift this year. You buy the clay at the craft store, then stamp on it to make an impression (you don't have to use ink) and in the example I saw, they just painted over the whole thing with a shimmery paint after it was baked and tied a ribbon to hang it. I think this could or could not be a holiday theme.

I also want to try to decorate a candle with stamping. Does that give you any ideas?

LeighAnn, I'm glad to hear that you sometimes do the same thing when crafting!

I have sent my Send You swap. I hope that the recipient likes it and will have fun with the supplies.

Today is National Thaw Day, according to butterball. You are supposed to take your turkey out of the freezer and put it in the fridge today so it will be fully thawed by Thanksgiving day.

I have been working on some crafty stuff, but haven't completed any projects. In regular life I am doing all the laundry today, researching educational stuff for teacher conferences, and planning for Thanksgiving.

Morning, all! Another lovely day here. Sunny, dry & warming into the high 40s--excellent for late Nov.!

Mom went for her hair appt. & then on to breakfast with her friend. She'll be full 'til suppertime. Gonna reheat the leftover Italian takeout--adding sauce & cheese. We also each have salad remains, so we're good.

Decided to do groceries tomorrow, but had to go to CVS. Picked up a refill & the med that had to be replaced. No prob!

Your stamped ornaments sound good, Heidi. What kind of clay do you plan to use? If you have access to dimensional paint, you might try this...

1. Stamp & cure/bake the clay.
2. Apply a layer of dimensional paint to the stamped clay & gently wipe off so the stamped 'lines' are filled with paint. Allow to dry completely.

Kathy. How about making bowling ball 'pins' for your ladies? You could punch/cut 2"-2.5" circles of craftfoam. Use a hole punch to make the finger holes & heatshrink the foam. Would be neat to use a stamp to pattern the ball while the foam is still soft. Add a pinback & you're done.

Wow great ideas! Thanks... I am thinking about magnets. I got these cute wood veneers in the shape of bowling ball and pins. I'm thinking clothespin magnets... gussy up the clothespin with paper then put the bowling thing on and paint/glitter/dimensionalize it, then put a strip magnet on the back.
Thaw your turkey day? I haven't even bought mine yet! LOL That's for tomorrow.
I've finally decided on how to finish my swap you project. Gonna have to finish it up for mailing tomorrow. Then I can work on the one Beady sent me!
Lasagna for dinner last night (frozen not home made) Don't know what to have tonight... maybe just the leftovers, hehehe.
Company is coming tomorrow for the week! Yay!

Sounds like many of you are busy making some neat Christmas gifts. Today I had 2 of my stamping friends over to stamp. We had a great time trying some new techniques and chatting! I haven't bought my turkey yet either. We just found out yesterday that my husband will have to have a heart cath next Wednesday. He has been having some heart problems for awhile and FINALLY went to the doctor. It will depend on what they find if he will need to stay in the hospital or not. We are hoping things are not too bad. So our Thanksgiving will be low key here. Hope you all have had a good day!

Sorry to hear about your husband Willy. I hope the procedure goes well and he is in the minimum safe time.

Did a double take when I read the post about it being 'thaw day'. Here in Canada we have Thanksgiving the beginning of October so it's long over for me. My next turkey day is Christmas and I was thinking, thaw the turkey today? It will be rotten by the time Christmas comes around! Luckily after a few seconds my brain kicked in and I realized that Thanksgiving 'south of the border' is just coming up. LOL

It takes a week to thaw a turkey???

I know they're big, and they're in the fridge, but really??

BTW, I have been wondering how the date of Thanksgiving is decided... I always thought it was the last Thursday in November, but next Thursday isn't...

Can someone fill me in?

Oh, April, I'm sorry about your DH- hope he's ok!

Cold and miserable here - after a very hot day yesterday, and a cold one the day before! Is it any wonder that I have a cold???

DH has a few days off so we're just taking it fairly easy. Sad to say, but I'm already looking forward to Christmas being over! Isn't that awful! Things are just so crazy until then!

All the hand-made presents sound good! I hope they all work out well.

April, I really hope the procedure for your husband goes really well. Will be thinking on him on Wednesday.

Big turkeys do take a long time to thaw, although I usually think 5 days is enough. This was the first I heard of the one week ahead guideline.

Thanksgiving is always the 4th Thursday in November in the US. Since Nov 1st was a Thursday this year, this is the earliest possible date for Thanksgiving to fall on this year.

I have been doing some crafting, but unable to actually complete a project this week.

Christin, I have a friend who is already feeling the way you do about Christmas. I hope you are able to slow down and enjoy things too.

Willy. I hearya on DH's putting off the doctor. Sounds like a 'guy'. We call broken legs sprains & huge wounds are 'just a scratch'. Best to you both for good results on the procedure.

Kathy. Magnets sound good. Bet your ladies will like them!

Christin. I 'hear' you too on the Christmas 'thing'. I have less & less interest in the holiday the older I get. Year end holiday season is a tough one for many. No advice for you--last thing you 'need', I'm sure. Me? I'm going to enjoy Thanksgiving & figure out Christmas after that--despite all the media/industry's best efforts to push me!

Gotta soon get around to do the grocery run, so I have to watch my time. Another cold start, but warming. Dry, sunny & less cold all the way past T-Day!

Got to light a fire under my creative butt & get some 'must do' projects finished. They're starting to pile up--literally!

Have a good today!

Stampwilly, I hope all goes well on Wed for you and your DH. And I wish y'all a relaxing and quiet Thanksgiving holiday.

Gardencat, to me that thought of having Thanksgiving at the beginning of October sound so much more relaxing! As soon as Halloween comes, I feel like it's a roller coaster from here until the first week of January!

Christin I hope your cold gets better!! I wanted to make some homemade gifts to give, but everything seems to be getting closer so fast!!!---so not sure how far I'll get on it...

I have been wanting to make a few cards, but have not been able to get myself into the craft room. Hoping today to play in the craft room and then see where it leads with the cards.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Posting a new card everyday this week and celebrating with blog candy this month (go back to monday (and sunday)) to ready about it. All prizes are card making and rubber stamps.

Other than that, life is stressful and hectic. Wish I could leave this body I have and find a new healthier fit body. At age 40 they wanna tell me they think I have cancer, it's way too young for that! Just about three years ago I underwent two brain surgeries and it was some major trauma, but the results were just amazing. Even to the doctor, he was just stunned. I am one of the poster children for him. Now to be dealt this hand is pretty unbelievable. I really just can't deal with it. I try to remind myself all the time that I thought I would be dead by 40 and I would always say and day past 40 was an amazing blessing to be thankful for. Sometimes it's so hard when you realize that the amazing recovery you have may get taken away. How do you deal with that?

Thanks for letting me vent.

Drop by the blog and just leave a comment to sign up for candy.

Hugs, Holley

Hey Guys!

I just finished cutting up some paper for some cardbases, my eyes were starting to get a little heavy and I began cutting things crooked, I figured it was best that I stop for the night!

Had a busy day today and got quite a bit done on the to do list. We did our shopping for thanksgiving, we are hosting this year. It's our first time doing so and I'm trying to plan ahead and get as much prepped as I can.I plan to head out tomorrow to finish up the rest of the shopping.

Melissa, I was thinking the same thing about Thanksgiving in October. I feel like it gets overlooked sometimes. It would be nice to celebrate it then.

Stampwilly, good thoughts to you and your husband. I hope everything goes well next week for you all and you have a good thanksgiving.

Holley, its nice to meet you. I will have to check out your blog and your cards! I'm sorry your having a hard time, sounds like you've been through a lot to be so young. Hopefully things will look up for you soon.

Well I am off to finish up a couple little things and get some rest. My goal is to finish up the grocery shopping early tomorrow morning, do some cleaning and make some major progress on the gifts I've been making!

Have a good one!

I got back last evening from a fun play time with stamping friends. We sometimes go to a large scrapbook store in a town nearby and play for the day. There is a cottage to rent rooms there on the property too. They have discounts on them from time to time, so some of the ladies stayed there this weekend. They also have a little cafe in with the scrapbook store that serves wonderful food, coffee and ice cream! Needless to say we all had a great time and we actually got some crafting done too! LOL! Going to church here real soon and then I am hoping to get more of my cards done for the design team. I hope everyone has a great day!
