Looks like we all survived T-Day, Black Friday et. al.. No plans to do 'Cyber Monday' per se, but might 'windows' shop today...

I got up very early (for me) so I could go with mom this morning. She had to have blood work done. So glad she doesn't have to go often these days since she's on Pradaxa now.

Rather nice weather today. Already in the (low) 40s & very sunny. Chance we'll get a bit of snow tonite--inch or less. Those south & east of our area might get a bit more...'Hello Heidi!'

Tweaking my 'Send YOU!' (part 2) project. Going to add a giftcard holder part to it. My kit 'sender' (Lickeyan) did a great job of providing materials to play with!

Speaking of which... I'd best get back to working on it before my early 'wakeup call' catches up with me. LOL!

Y'all have a good'un!

Was very slow getting started today, but did make it to the gym to swim and do legs exercises. Hot tub was so great. Then got a huge job finished just moments away - put in my final order for photo prints (211 for 10 cents a piece - locally, so I don't have to pay postage on top of the printing price). Now to start on my photo cards - I have regulars who expect them each year as part of their Christmas gifts and I like to get some extras made up for the first part of the year.

I also make two photo/scrapbook calenders - one for my DMIL and for my DS. Also order photo 10 x 5 calenders for some other small gifts.

Between photo editing, ordering, making calenders and getting in the Christmas mood - I am one busy gal.

DGS wanted to know when we were going to put up tree and decorations - that is all scheduled for after the 1st - so that will be next next week's project. We do a small tree here as he has a big one at him home.

Will start Christmas music on the 1st as well.

Hope everyone has a great day. We are having beautiful fall weather here in Utah this week.

Ann

Hello everyone! Did everyone eat a salad today? DH said that everyone in the workplace cafeteria was feeling those holiday pounds and ate salads. lol. I have to admit I was eating lightly today too.

I kept one kid home sick today, but not very sick. It helps ease us into the post holiday week. I'm not sweating the snow, it doesn't sound like it should be much.

We don't have much going on this week. I am undecided on when I will get and put up a tree. I feel like I have some extra time this year. I am cyber shopping a bit today.

I have the lovely kit Kathy put together to work on for crafting.

Hey guys

It's been a long day. I've mostly been working and doing laundry.

Didn't do any cyber shopping today but I did browse a bit. Nothing really jumped out at me. I did stay away from anything paper craft related. I'm sure I would have found several just had to haves!

One of my pugs ate 2 pieces of bubblegum today so that's been a bit nerve wracking. Called the vet and we have to monitor her behavior and bathroom trips(tmi-sorry!) Ironically, all this went down while DH had the other pug at the vet for some skin issues he's been having. The vet should get a nice little bonus from the money we've spent there lately

LickeyAn, sounds like your making some fun gifts! One of my least favorite tasks is editing and uploading pics to print. I really need to order some right now with all of the good deals going on.

Daniel that's great about your mom. Bloodwork is no fun. Especially early morning fasting type bloodwork.

Heidi, hope your son feels better. Did you find any good deals today?

I'm gonna hop off and work on a couple of cards. Have a good night!

I did a quick check of a couple of my favourite sites today, but just to see the overall sale level. Both of the ones I checked were offering 20% off which isn't bad, if there is something you really wanted, but wasn't enough to make me start shopping just to pick up something I don't really need. I'm trying to concentrate on saving money for gift buying this month...gifts for others, not myself LOL.

'PUG'. I hope your 'pug' is ok, but have to laugh. Can just see the pooch blowing a bubble out its butt! This too will pass, huh?

'Weatherman' got it right! Woke to light snow. Very pretty on the grass & trees, Roads are clean. Looks like we're in for another hour or two of snow, but should end up with about an inch+ when it's done.

Heidi. No salad here. I made us a package of stuffed shells for last nite's supper. Not bad for a frozen entree. I heated a canned sauce--sausage & served it over the cheese-filled pasta shells. Mom said it was tasty. Tonite's menu? Fishsticks, boiled taters, stewed tomatoes (for mom) & a green veggie for me (maybe spinach).

Have a few touches to add to my 'SY' kit project. Should get it off to Beady by tomorrow.

Ann. I'm not feeling all that Christmasy, but working on it.

'GC'. I hear ya on the 'cyber' shopping. Saw some sites offering 20% off, but (frankly) that's not a huge discount--'specially when you add in the shipping cost. Not really anything I want craftwise, but might consider looking at some new paper/cs & maybe some craftfoam sheets.

Planning to make our grocery run wed. & have to pick up some of mom's meds while we're out, too. But that's tomorrow. Today I'm gonna play a bit more with crafts...

Hope y'all have a great Tuesday!

I was so wrong not to be worried about the snow. It is really bad out there. I'm not sure if it is because no one is plowing/salting, or if it is the type of snow. My guess is a combination...

I did order some things for Cyber Monday. A few replacement dishes of Corelle brand was an absolute steal + free shipping, and the others were just moderately priced overall.

I'm hoping to do as little as possible today as I am feeling under the weather.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, Heidi. Hope you feel better soon.

Far as the weather? Yeah. Kind of figured you'd get a bit more muck since you are south & east of our area.

Happy Tuesday. Hard to believe it's almost December.

Daniel your comment made me laugh. I actually thought the same thing. Lol!
Good news is she's acting like normal.

It's a chilly and dreary day here today. Not much going on. I plan to bake up some pork chops for dinner. Still thinking about the sides.

I've got an idea for a swap that I need to start a thread on to get some input. Hope everyone's having a good day today!

Was warmer than expected today. We were to have 60% chance of rain, but it didn't happen. Very cloudy all day though. Cleaned some and ran errands for hubby. Tomorrow I have shopping to do in the morning at Wally World and then off to water sod at one of hubby's houses that is under contract! We are glad of that! We are planning to eat out tomorrow night. Trying to get plans ready for my local stamp club's Christmas party on Monday. Have gotten all the games in mind and door prizes wrapped. Could not find the small Christmas tree anywhere, that I use for the party! Was getting panicky! Then I remembered that I had given it to my son last year so he could have a tree at his house for Christmas! WHEW! I am picking it up tomorrow. Hope you all have a good day.

Hi everyone!

LOL! I have to admit, I too thought of what Daniel thought with your sweet pug LeighAnn. I am glad she's ok though!

Hope you feel better Heidi!

Ann, I haven't done any Christmas decorating yet. I won't until Dec. 1---but it probably won't be until next week.

I'm with you gardencat, those cyber monday sales weren't good enough for me to buy!

Your Christmas party sounds fun April!!

I've been cleaning up the craft room, sewing a bit on my quilt, and getting everything back in order from Thanksgiving. Hoping to get to play with cards today!! I'm excited about LeighAnn's tag swap---I am going to try to use each tag I am able to do to experiment with techniques! It was cold yesterday---morning started out at 23 degrees, but warmer up to maybe 57 degrees. well today it's going to be a high of 75!!! I'm fine with that! I need to get out and walk----so glad to hear Anne you're doing well with exercising!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Ditto on 'PUG's' monthly tag swap/challenge, Melissa! I'm already starting to figure out what my 'January' one will be. Great chance to go 'kitchen sink' on a small scale.

Yesterday's snow is melting, but we've decided to wait 'til tomorrow to do any running--groceries & CVS. Mom's ok with meds & we're not in immediate need of groceries. Don't think we got even a full inch of white stuff, but it was pretty.

Foodfront... Gonna turn some leftover corn into fritters & couple them with sausage links for our supper. I might fry up the leftover boiled taters, too.

Best get crackin'. Want to do some play today!

Y'all have a good'un!

Hello everyone. Thanks for your concern, I am feeling A LOT better today. I did accomplish my goal yesterday of doing practically nothing and I think that helped.

Today I have been cleaning to make up for yesterday and I plan to decorate the powder room for Christmas. The rest of the house can wait, plus I haven't decided what size/type of tree we are going to get this year anyhow.

For dinner I plan on making spaghetti and meat sauce made with sausage. I made that over Thanksgiving for my extended family and found out DS actually likes the sausage (super picky eater) so I thought we'd do it at home too. Have garlic bread for a side.

I want to go to the office supply store and buy some tags now to participate in LeighAnn's swap. Might make some gift tags for Christmas as well.

Melissa and Stampwilly, wow, your temps are HOT! Daniel, I don't blame you for not going out. On the walk to school this morning, it was clear that the folks who didn't shovel or salt their walks made them QUITE icy! It should all melt in the bright sunshine today.

I am getting ready to go to our town's Holiday Fair! Will be there all day! One side of the convention center is all handmade items and the other half is dedicated to businesses with unique products. My friend and I will shop til we drop! LOL! I really don't have a lot of Christmas presents to buy, but I am looking for outside Christmas decorations and birthday presents. OH and a fabulous fruit cake they sell. I hate fruit cake, but this one is choc full of pecans and very good! Hope all of you have a great day.

Hi all!

Well, it's colder than you know what here! But we have no snow on the ground yet. It's snowed twice, but didn't stick. It's been in the teen's at night and right now it is 27. I am so not used to the cold yet!

Had a great time with the daughter and grandson over the holiday. He actually did do some crafts! He made a bunch of bottle cap necklaces and key chains. Good thing I had all the stuff, LOL Gotta replenish my supply now.

Still have a little turkey left. I think I'll freeze it. We are tired of turkey, hehehe. Don't know what I'll make tonight, maybe Pad Thai with shrimp (out of a box, I don't have my own recipe).

Working on my Send you project. I'm just not sure how I am going to put it together yet.

Everyone have a great day!

I love fruitcake Willy, I never understood why it gets such a bad rap. I especially like fruitcake with marzipan icing...yum.
Sadly my kids join with the majority and don't like it so I have to limit myself to buying a small one since, if we don't have any guests that like it, I end up eating the whole thing myself over the holidays.

I also love plum pudding and mince meat tarts...Christmas season is one long temptation for me.

Ewwww..... fruit cake! We got this huge box of chocolate from our German exchange student in the mail today. Oh my goodness! We are set for months, lol.
She also put in cheese and a wait for it.... Marzipan fruit cake! I'm not touching that one!
Off to town today. Hopefully to get a bit of holiday shopping done. I have to finish earlier than y'all for the Hanukkah part this year. Then I have to Christmas shop for the grandkids! Gonna make them matching t shirts this year with embroidery on them.
Pad thai was yummy last night! I buy the box at Cost Plus as it is the best. Had some bok choy from our farm delivery left and put it in with chicken and some weird veggie... broccolini I think it's called. It was so good!
Still haven't finished the second part of my swap you, guess it will be next week before I can send it.
Everyone have a great day. It's going to be 55 degrees here today, warmer than lately!

I don't like fruitcake, but I have had fruitcakes that I like. My mom makes one where I swear the #1 ingredient is booze. I like them better if it is lots of nuts. And I have not ever tried marzipan one. I LOVE marzipan though! Love mincemeat pies, but we tried a Christmas pudding one year and the texture is just very strange to my American palate.

My preferred Christmas treat is cookies. Sugar, nutmeg logs and springerlie are my favorites. You can make springerlie and stamp on them, btw, although my family uses a special rolling pin. It might be a fun thing to try stamping this year though!

Today I am making roast beef in the crock pot and we will have mashed potatoes and a vegetable.

I should have time to work on my Send You Part II today. This weekend there is a holiday school event and we need to at least decide about what kind/size/placement of tree we are going to have. If the weather is nice, we will put up our lights etc.

Have a happy Friday!

Stampwilly- how is the holiday fair?
Kathy - do you need to purchase/prepare more for Hanukkuh or more for Christmas?

Lovin' the fruitcake chat! I'm not a big fan either, but don't mind those that are 90% fruit & nuts with just enough cake to keep them from falling apart--like a really good crab cake.

Mom used to make small fruitcakes as part of her cookies/candies gift assortments. Hers were cakey, but we wrapped them in cheesecloth & soaked them in booze--bourbon, I think. Marzipan fruitcake, Kathy? Is it like ones the British make? They make a dense spice cake with fruits & nuts, then seal the cake with a marzipan & finish with a hard frosting. I believe they call it 'Christmas Cake'.

A bit overcast today, but temps are slowly rising. Supposed to hit near 60 for sun.-tues.! Works for me! Might even turn the furnace down a degree or 2 in the daytime.

Not much on tap today. Might do a bit of (craft) clean up. The piles on my desk are overdue for switching out. Not looking forward to it. 'Course I'm sure to find stuff I've forgotten I have, so that's ok.

Food front? I don't plan to cook today. Mom can have whatever she wants. Trust me. She won't starve. We're having roast beef for Sunday, Heidi. I'm making oven potroast with carrots, onions & taters in the roaster. I'll use onion soup mix as seasoning. I like mashed with lots of gravy, but might do 'franconia' taters this time. You parboil the taters then roast them to finish. They're good with gravy, too.

Willy. Holiday Fair sounds intersting! How was it? 'Beady' is doing a Holiday 'Boutique' this sat. Sounds like she has a variety of items--knitted, painted wood, jewelry, etc. Wishing her well. Last time I did a craft sale I was in my late teens. Much prefered selling designs...

Kathy. 'Swiss' cheese & chocolates? Sounds like a fondue party in the making! Hanukkah gifts? Do you buy for all 8 days? Gifts aside, I'm a huge fan of laetkes!

Hope y'all have a terrific today!

Happy Friday!

It's been a long wee and I'm glad to see Friday here. Not much going on here today, I've got some cleaning I need to do as well as some things to work on for work.

I made a card this morning, I really like how it turned out even though the only stamping I did was the sentiment. I've been utilizing my cricut a lot more and I have to say I am really enjoying putting it to use and have learned a lot from it. I've had it for about 4 years now so its about time I learned to love it!

Lots of great projects in the gallery! It really gave me the itch to create! I've got to tackle some more projects on my gift list.

Weather is gonna be really nice here this weekend, temps in the low 60's! I think we may put up some outdoor lights and decorations.

We're having an easy dinner tonight. Chicken Phillies and sweet potato fries.

All of this talk about the holiday food(s) has me an idea for a post. I think it's pretty safe to say we all like to chat about food as much as stamping!

I'm off to cross some more to-do's off my list, have a good one!

Happy December!

Overcast & gonna stay that way, but warmer air is fighting its way into our area so we'll live with the clouds.

LOL on the cricut, Pug! I have a cricut (original version) that I've never used. Turned out not to be what I thot it was so the CuttleBug remains my go-to machine.

We had subs last nite--cheesesteak & meatball parm. Tasty. Gonna do cheeseburgers for supper today. Might make a small pot of potato soup, too. Depends on whether the scallions are useable.

Not much on tap today. How's by y'all?

Have a good today!

Happy Saturday.

This morning we went to the school event which was also a small craft fair. There was one table selling papercrafts including cards. I purchased several sets of earrings, handmade soap and some felted wool ornaments. DS bought a pillow with NFL material. All of the items I purchased are for gifts, but it is sorely tempting to keep some!

Shopping is on the list for today and we are trying to make a list.

The roast beef was excellent and we have plenty of everything for tonight too. Daniel, subs sound excellent to me. One of my favorites.

It is supposed to be quite warm starting tomorrow. I think we'll wait till then to put up the Christmas lights.

Hi All! The holiday fair was fabulous as always. We were there from 10am-5pm! I bought a beautiful Christmas wreath at a great price, a neat hoody and scarf for me, some chow chow and jam, and some other things. My friend got all her Christmas shopping done there. Yes, I did get the fruitcake -- 3 of them. They are more like a pecan cake.

My hubby is away hunting in another state, so supper tonight will be opening up a can of soup I think!

It was almost 70 degrees here today. I went with a friend downtown to see all the wonderful decorated Christmas trees in a hotel lobby. They do this every year -- trees are donated for businesses and schools to decorate. Our stamp club did one one year and of course we made stamped ornaments using House Mouse. We got honorable mention for being a newbie and the tree was in the paper.

We had a nice lunch at a fun restaurant and shopped a little.

Hoping to start work on a scrapbook page tonight that I have to do for the design team.

AAAARGH! I had bought new lights for the tree and had the whole tree decorated perfectly last night. Heard a wild yelp and a cat running behind the couch. My cats play wild sometimes, so I didn't think much about it. Looked in later and saw that the tree lights were off. Miss Pepper had chewed through the light cord!!!!! It's the wonder she has any fur left! That yelp was when she got shocked I guess. Soooooooo, that meant I had to take the lights off this morning without damaging anything and put new ones on with out damaging anything. What a PAIN! I don't think she will chew another cord again! I am glad I didn't have a fried cat last night!

That's all my adventures -- I don't need anymore! LOL!

LOL, Willy! Maybe your cat was just trying to "get a glow on"! Glad she's ok. Yeah! PITA about having to re-do the lights. No my fave part of tree decorating, either.

Craftfront: Still time to join Pug's 'Tag Swap'. You don't have to commit to doing one every month. But bet if you do one; you'll do more!

Weather: Overcast with a chance of showers, but warming nicely. 60 on monday!

Food: The oven potroast is coming along. Looks & smells yummy. Have to make up the hot lettuce & bake the bisquits.

Today is the 1st Sunday in Advent. Do you have an advent wreath in your home or church?

Have a good'un!

Good Sunday afternoon

It's a chilly and windy day today. The temps aren't bad but it's overcast and with the wind it makes it feel a bit cooler than what it really is.

Yesterday we managed to get a big bulk of our Christmas shopping done. Glad to get that out of the way!

Today I need to work on some gifts and such.

Food front, I'm gonna grill some teriyaki chicken. I'm gonna make some rice and peas for the side.

Thanks Daniel for the deadline of the tag swap! I'm so pleased at my turn out and can't wait to see what everyone comes up with

Have a good one!

Hi Pug! Yeah! I think you've got a winner with your 'tag swap'!

Mom just finished eating. She cleaned her plate--even had a 2nd biscuit to sop up my (made) gravy. She said it was real good. She even liked the commercial dressing (WosWit) on her lettuce. We definitely have tomorrow's supper! I'm proud of my gravy--tangy with a velvety texture. The glub of steak sauce adds a lot of flavor & zing.

Have to do KP, but want to finish up my Send YOU first.

No rain yet, but we can use moisture--Nov. was very dry around here. Sandy pulled so much mosture in Oct.

Writing tonight from beautiful Florida...kind of a last minute decision to accept an lnvite to spend a week at a friends timeshare. Managed to find a reasonable flight so decided to come...quite a change from Fridays snow storm at home...Friday night it took me an hour and a half to do what is usually a 15 minute drive because of snow, slippery roads and snarled traffic, this morning I was walking barefoot on the beach.

Daniel, to me marzipan fruit Cake is just a fruit cake with a thick layer of marzipan on top as icing...I too like the ones with fruit and nuts barely held together with 'cake', and preferably soaked in brandy or rum.

Sounds like everyone is getting busy and lots of holiday things going on. Not sure if I'll be able to do the first tag swap but love the idea and hope to jump in the next month.
