|Posted: 11/28/2012 11:54:23 AM|I recently I found and added to this old thread, only to discover that the links that are already there don't work: Background Techniques
The problem is that Two Peas has added the words that are in the title of the project to the url.
I sent this information to the Service Center and asked for help. Here is a part of that request that explains the problem:
Here's an example:
The old link that no longer works: http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/gallery/?gallery=3&cmd=display&layout_id=567296
The new link: http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/gallery/member/40903-stamptherapea/567296-background-project-gift-bag-and-note-pad/
Since we can't access the post, we don't know what words to add to the link in order to make it work--worse than the "kaboose" problem which I knew how to fix by deleting the word kaboose and the extra dot.
Here is Matt's response. I am very grateful that there is a way to find these old threads/gallery posts, and I thought I'd share the method.
If you'd like to view a particular layout, you can take the layout ID from within any particular link and search for it from the main layout page. For example, the layout ID for the following link is: https://www.twopeasinabucket.com/gallery/member/40903-stamptherapea/567296-background-project-gift-bag-and-note-pad/ is 567296.
Take this layout ID of 567296, click on gallery, and search for it on the lefthand side. This will pull up that layout. Does this information help?
OK. This means that instead of clicking an old link and going directly to the project or thread, we need to do this:
1. Right click on the link
2. Select properties.
3. Find the code and copy it.
4. Go to the gallery; paste the code in the search box.
5. Click OK.
If you are lucky, you'll be able to see the link in your address bar and skip the first two steps. I can't. If the link doesn't work, my computer gives me an instant message, and the url changes.
|Posted: 11/28/2012 11:58:52 AM|I copied and pasted this from one of our Trouble-Shooting Threads. It fits right in with the topic of dealing with faulty links -- URLs with the word kaboose in them:
I thought this would be a good place to add this wonderful piece of advice that I recently received. It's a way to access old threads that I thought were lost to me.
I wish Two Peas could fix the links so that they worked. Whenever ownership changes, so does the URL. A lot of our old links have a word in them that no longer belongs there. Two Peas tried to make it disappear automatically. I think that might even work for some people, but it doesn't for me. Plus, I can't manually remove it because my computer is too quick to diagnose the problem and brings up a new page to let me know about it. Therefore, the URL to the info page replaces the one I put in, and the original one is beyond my reach. That is the only thing this old computer does quickly. Darn.
Furry Pea's advice:
Hey Miss Daria.... I know it is a lot of work, but if you or anyone else is interested:
Right-click on the link
Click on Properties
Copy the URL
Paste in your browser
Remove: kaboose (plus the extra "dot"
>>>>>>>>> gets you to the page you want!
This is easy to do, and now I can access the old threads I wanted to see. Maria wrote me again and suggested I save the fixed links to the threads I wanted to revisit so I wouldn't have to repeat the process again.
Thank you, Maria.

Using Matt's ID# search, put a 6-digit number in the seach box & click 'OK'.
So far I've gotten interesting results & want to see what the lowest starting # is for retrieving a lost project...

Finding Video Tutorials
One more thing. When I click on the links for some of the old video tutorials, I can't find the video. If I copy and paste the title into a Google Search/You Tube, I can find it that way. Very cool.
Sit. Stay. Pea!
