Since it's Dec. 1, I was wondering if any of us have ever made an advent calendar--especially ones that employ paper & stamping?

Did/do you do them with religious or secular themes? Doors or pockets?

Feel free to share!

Advent calendars are one of those things that have been on "the list" of things I want to do ... that I just haven't, yet. One of these days ...
I have stamps I'd like to use and even a die that cuts little flip up windows. Somehow December gets here faster every year!

Religious or secular? Hmmm, probably mostly secular, the stamp set I'd like to use is 12 Days of Christmas. I have more secular than religious stamps but I would like to have at least a little bit of religion in there too.

How about you? Have you made an Advent calendar?

Wow Leashah, that is awesome! I love all the dimensional elements. Those are some big boxes to fill though, perfect for a family.

If anyone is still looking to make an advent calendar, or even if you just want to celebrate without the calendar ... I found this list of bible verses on pinterest.

I took a class today at a LSS by Natalie Kalbach. It was an altered book class. I just went to check out her blog and she has a relatively quick and easy and chocolate Advent calendar on her blog. She modified a store bought advent calendar with yummy chocolates but ugly advertising on the front.

before

Click above to see the before and here is the pic of the finished calendar.

Natalie's is painted and stenciled but could have just as easily stamped stars with paint. Oh, and she is from Germany, so I'm not sure what it says

I got the best Advent calendar one year. Behind each of the little doors was a foam mounted rubber stamp. They were all antique looking Christmas stamps. It was put out by Rubber Stampede. I still have it.

I have not made an advent calendar --- but seeing these, makes me want to now!!

Leashah that is a beautiful advent calendar---well done!!

Cindy---that is so neat what the artist did with the plain advent calendar---turned it into totally different calendar----wonder what it says?

Kathy, that stamping advent calendar sounds so exciting---like getting a present each day!!

Thanks, everyone! I had to make the boxes large with five kids...

It started with a brainstorm, then The BF picked up the Martha Stewart Wonderland collection... And then there was a late store run for 30 sheets of cardstock to match! It literally took two full days of work but it was a labor of love and will be stored very carefully to hopefully be used year after year (until it disintegrates!)

I really want to make a nativity one! I haven't had a chance to get to the only shop I know I can buy one, so it's a bit sad not having one. I considered whipping one up on Saturday night, but decided the lack of quality wasn't worth it. One day (one year!) I'll make one...

Cindi, thank you so much for the link to the Bible verses - that is EXACTLY the sort of thing I wanted!!

Leashah, your calendar is so cool!!! What an amazing amount of work, but so worth it!

I have one! I made fabric envelopes for each day that I hang on a clothesline. Each one has a hand painted clothespin and a stamped tag hanging from it. I used some really large number stamps for the tags. My kids love it!

I made a flip calender with ATC's two years ago, it was fun taking it out again on the first of december. There is an ATC card for every day, with some of them being based on traditions specific for a particular day in December. I shared them all here, and last year also on my blog:
