Good Morning Happy Stampers! How's by you today?

Here @ Chez Boone the weather is warm, but overcast. Had showers in late afternoon/early evening yesterday. Kind of nice to hear it raining instead of sleeting.

Mom wants to go to the Dollar store to get some cards. We'll go after noon. I was going to do laundry today, but decided to hold off 'til tomorrow. And today's supper is leftovers so I'm pretty light on domestic chores.

I see our pal Garden Cat is enjoying a Florida vacation. Work on your tan, GC!

Looks like we're in a low-post period, but that's ok. I'm sure traffic will pick up.

Since Christmas isn't all that far away, I guess I'll have to grit my teeth & do some decorating for the holiday. Mom hasn't pushed the issue, but I know she'd like some decorations.

Not much else at the moment. Hope y'all have a good today!

Good morning. It is warm and sunny here! DS wore shorts to school, although I think he was pushing it. I made him wear a sweatshirt, but otherwise let him make his own (bad?) decision.

I felt a little odd this morning putting up decorations outside in short sleeves and next to my pansies which look great and green grass. What an odd year. Made some progress there, but need to purchase a couple more strings of lights. We have been switching over to LED to save energy and they are much cooler and seem safer to me. No tree yet, but have many indoor decorations up including greenery on the banister and over some windows. Have plenty more to do. The cat is enjoying the boxes being out.

Daniel, you mentioned an Advent wreath on last week's thread. I am late, but I do have one I always use. I don't know of a single other person who has one, must not be as common in houses as it is in churches.

I went to AC Moore last night for their extra % off everything sale. In addition to the things I went to purchase (decorations, candles, gingerbread house, tags) I picked up a few stamps and a couple sets of those Spectrum Noir markers.

There is a school function we where can drop off BOTH kids, so we will likely go out to Chinese for dinner tonight. We have difficulty finding childcare so this is a rare treat for us.

I plan to do Kimber's card sketch today and still plugging along on the color challenge. I am having a bit of trouble with that one.

Have a great monday!

I am here, took the day off from pool exercises to fold 5 loads of laundry and put them away. I keep getting further and further behind. The extra two hours today - got quite a bit done so far and then it is off to the grocery store to spend money.

Had a great time crafting Saturday night - got 75 photo cards done - that is what I absolutely have to have . But will work in another 50 or so for extra sets for last minute gifts.

Want to dig into my received "you sway" card project to see what I can design in my head first.

Have a great week - Tis the season to be busy.

Good Monday afternoon!

Its very warm here, we just got back from the park. It certainly doesnt feel like December! A front is supposed to move in tonight and bring some rain and cooler temps tomorrow. We will still be unseasonably warm for December!

Food front, I'm making some spaghetti tonight. Always one of my faves. Not just for delicious-ness but because its fairly easy and usually yields leftovers

Craft front, I made several cards yesterday and worked on a painting I'm doing as a gift yesterday. I posted the swap list and tag swap info for the January tag swap, so I need to get started on those.

Daniel, glad you're having such nice weather. Good luck with the decorating and making your mom happy!

Heidi, let us know what you think about the markers.I have some that I have been buying over the past couple of months and I'm still getting used to using them. I like them but I think I like working with colored pencils better.

LickeyAn, Way to go on laundry. I thought I was the only one that let it pile up. I don't mind doing it but I hate to fold it and put it away!

I need to start a blog post and check out some other threads, Hope your Monday's treating you well!

Happy Monday evening! I just got back from my local stamp club's Christmas party. We had a great time of fun games and eats. We played the gift swap game where you can steal a gift from someone. I came home with 2 wonderful EK Success punches -- one of a large cupcake border and the other a weave border! Played a relay, mad lib game and a right-left game!

Tomorrow I go to the hair dresser and off to run errands.

For my design team we have to make a scrapbook page, so I need to get my papers and colors in mind and get started on that! We need to have lots of layers, glitz and glam!

It was 71 here today. I managed to get a nice walk in. I think tomorrow will be about the same.

I have all my decorations up. I put mine up while hubby was gone this past weekend.

Need to finish addressing Christmas cards to get them out this week.

Good night. Hope you have a good day tomorrow.

Hi everybody!

Nice weather here after a few really HOT days - I remember thinking at one stage last week that we had the same temps as some of you guys, but ours was Celsius and yours was Fahrenheit! In the low 40s... That's over 100 F, I think.

I braved the heat and spent ages in our garage looking for our Christmas decorations, to no avail. After my dd tripped over the dismantled tree 3 times, I decided we'd better put it up anyway, and fortunately I found a package of baubles in the cupboard. Just looks a little bare.

April, the stamping club party sounds fun!

Ann and LeighAnn, I know what you mean about laundry! I don't mind washing and hanging, but our couch has an almost permanent pile of unfolded clean clothes on it. Bane of my life.

And Heidi, I hear you on the child care! What a great opportunity you had! I hope you and DH enjoyed yourselves!

I've had a fantastic two weekends of acquiring stamps! I go to garage sales fairly regularly and have NEVER seen stamps for sale, and then I did for two Saturdays in a row! One was advertised as 'scrapbooking stuff' and the other as 'craft', so I was thrilled to see HEAPS of rubber (and some clear) stamps at both!! And some images that I really love! So needless to say, I've spent a lot of money (but not nearly as much as i would have new) and got heaps more stamps! My collection is getting out of control! I love it! I also got my dds into stamping with some very cutesy teddy bear stamps - I usually don't let them near my stamps, but they seemed kind of kid-friendly, and came with a cheap ink. Oh, that's the other thing I got - heaps of cats eye inks very cheap!

Well, DH is home tonight, so I'd better give him some attention. Have a good week, all!

Morning All! Nice to see so many of us dropping a few lines to the chat!

We had a few 'surprise' showers last nite/early morning, but sun's out after burning off some fog & it getting warm--up to 65(F) today! Yay!

Just finished doing laundry. Should dry nicely.

Sounds like we've all been busy--mostly in good ways.

Heidi. On the 'finding childcare'? LOL! Hard to find sitters once the urchins get a 'rep', huh? BTW? I'd be happy to watch your youngins. I 'like' kids. 'Cept they never put enough gravy on them in restaurants...

Lickey. I'd have done the 'pool'. Folding laundry is almost as little fun as hanging it.

Pug. Actually our weather isn't all that non-normal here. We often have some milder periods & thoroughly enjoy the them--saves a bundle on the heating bill. I found a wreath I'd done & hung it on the door. Mom's happy. Looks ok, but I'll tweak it with some flowers & such when I get the time. Gonna try to see if we can do some decorating this weekend. I know Mom'd like that & she can help a bit.

Willy. Glad the party was such fun. So envy you your IRL group.

Christin. WTG on building your stamp stash! And LOL on finding your Christmas decorations!

We made the Dollar store run yesterday. I helped mom find some cards. She has a little problem reading some so I read the sentiments aloud for her. It helped.

Tomorrow looks like grocery run. We're talking menus & checking coupons.

Off to do some more posts & then get a little crafty. Have a Happy!

Happy tuesday afternoon!

Its a windy/rainy day here with a good chance of storms due to our warm temps. I had the windows open most of the day yesterday!

I've been on the phone most of the morning with medicare.Ugh, the most aggravating insurance to deal with!! I'm taking a little lunch break now and will probably make some more calls to them once my little guy goes down for his nap. After I get some work done, I'm hoping to tackle Eager's color challenge and Heidi's gift card challenge. Both sound like fun.

Dinner tonight is jumbalaya and some corn fritters for the side. Yum!

Christin, how cool! Sounds like you found some good finds at the garage sales! I got my son a couple of cheap wooden stamps to play with and a washable stamp pad about a month or so ago. He loves to play with them!

Daniel, your childcare comment made me laugh! I agree though with you Heidi, its hard to find decent childcare so I would take advantage when you can! I've seen more and more of those drop off day cares lately, where if you need to run a few errands I guess you just drop your kids off there? I dont know how that works but it seems a bit odd to me.

Stampwilly, sounds like you have a great group of IRL stamp buddies. I'm with Daniel, I'm jealous!

I'm off to check out some more threads and get back to work. Have a good one!

While we are on the laundry topic, I don't mind washing or folding. I just don't like to put the clothes away, especially those that hang up.

Like Daniel said, our weather is gorgeous and warm. LeighAnn, DH would probably like your dinner plans for tonight more, but I think we are going to have French Toast -- we have too much bread.

Chinese was good last night. Had Thai Calamari to start, and my meal was Ginger Beef with cashews. It had a ton of ginger and was fantastic. DH had the special which was too spicy for me to even try. The kids had tons of fun at the school program.

Stampwilly, I will add myself to the list of those envious of your stampy get together! All those games sound like so much fun! Christin, I am so happy for your stamp finds! I look forward to seeing your new stamps in a project sometime soon! 40 C sounds uncomfortably hot! 104 in F.

Have a great Tuesday all!!

Wow, everyone is chatty this week! Well lots has gone on here too.

Rained cats and dogs last night but it was still about 55 degrees so didn't seem so bad. We found a great Chinese food place last night so we are having leftovers tonight.

We closed on our house last night too. Yay! We bought the house we have been living in for the last 3 years.

I think I have all my cards done, I am working on addressing Hanukkah cards today. Daniel.. you asked about Hanukkah last week. Yep, we do a present every night but only for the teenager. She gets something small each night, half real presents and half Hanukkah gifty stuff, like we get her a new dreidel every year. Last year was a glass painted one, this year is a small silver one that actually has a chain so she can wear it as a necklace. She has quite a collection now. And then on the last night we eat latkes and blintzes.

I am just about done with the second half of my swap card, but it probably won't get in the mail til Friday. A bit late I know.

Hi everyone!

So fun to getting to read what everyone's been doing! Such a busy time of year and the weather!!! I cannot believe this weather---it's been in the upper 70s each day----and that has made it where I keep thinking to myself "ok, when's Halloween?"--then I have to remind myself it's almost Christmas!!! I cannot believe it!

I still have shopping and crafting left to do. Not to mention some of those goodies I wanted to try to make---I don't think I'll get to it this week. In our house, DH plays in luckily only one nutcracker in our area, but it still means lots of rehearsals for "us." I laugh b/c, despite he's the one going to the rehearsals, it still involves me too since I help with meals and driving etc. I like going to nutcracker b/c I get to listen to a live orchestra play the song I entered in on our wedding---which is the song that starts right AFTER the mouse king gets beat----and it has all the harp playing, etc. SO pretty! And my DH transposed it from the score into a string quartet and piano for our wedding. This is the song I entered on, but it was faster and parts were cut so it wasn't 4 minutes long, but you get the idea which part of the nutcracker: Nutcracker song Thanks for letting me reminisce!

Tonight I made a variation on potato soup since we had a cold front that brought our highs into the upper 60s. Had potatoes, onions, celery, cauliflower, and yellow split peas. Mashed it up before serving with saltines. yummy!! Then finished off with some honey on saltines for "dessert"--yummy yummy!!

Tomorrow I am crafting for sure!! Been waiting for packages past two days form UPS that had to sign---now I know the other options I have if this happens again!!---but today I was there when they said they'd deliver b/w 10:30 - 2pm and he arrived at 6 pm!! Oh well--got lots done around the house, but tomorrow is craft day!!

Hope everyone has a great night

Congrats on the house, Kathy! And, Melissa, I enjoyed your reminisce. I'm currently trying to load the song to hear it.

ETA: Ohhhh, that's lovely! Mine was Pachelbel's Cannon in D, but it was played VERY badly by a family-friend organist. My one disappointment about the day!

Pleased to see/hear from y'all!

Didn't get much rain from the cold front pushing in--just a few showers last night. Yesterday's laundry dried nicely in the sun with a light breeze. I made mom's bed with the freshly dried linen & she said it smelled so good.

We're heading out for the grocery run this morning (have to get around soon). Hope to get back here later when I have more time to post to all the chatterers... 'Til then, y'all have a good'un!

Wow! A lot going on! Congrats on the house closing SWLady. I hope you are a happy homeowner!

LOL about you and the kids, Daniel!

Warm and sunny here, gorgeous! I went to yoga this morning and now I'm sitting here "recovering" About time I get up and get moving. Should put a load of laundry in, since we're speaking of it!

I finally put the wreaths on the door today. The lights have been up for a while (because DH does that and he's more on the ball than I am
). One of my goals today is to swap our regular mugs and glass ware for the Christmas ones. I REALLY want and need to craft today. I think I will set a date with myself

Oh, and that LSS party? Sounds like so much fun! Makes me want to have a party, and I never entertain.

Ok, up and at 'em

It was a little cooler here today and cloudy. Supposed to be even cooler tomorrow. I spent all day working on a scrapbook page for my design team. I am not a scrapbooker, so it takes me awhile! I made flowers for the page so that took a long time. We are to use a lot of glitz and layers.

We had leftover grilled hamburgers tonight. Will be watching X Factor later. Have a good evening everyone!

Hi everyone. It is much cooler today. I realized I am late with part 2 of the swap. I worked on it today, and had fun, but want to redo some parts of it before I send it.

Congrats on the house SWLady!!! I would love to eat real Latkes. I need a recipe! Just have used the box before.

Good to see you again, Reflections. I hope your weather has improved.

Melissa, that is fun about your wedding song -- I wouldn't have thought of the Nutcracker for a wedding song. Very lovely how it was transposed and all! Mine was Sheep May Safely Graze, which is from the Messiah, which is another Christmas work, right? Luckily, the organist was quite good. Sorry your song was not played well, Christin. My one disappointment from my wedding is that I didn't get ANY cake!

Tonight is book club. It was another poor book this month. A fluffy Christmas one. I decided that I would read Anna Karenina to balance out the fluff, and because I want to go see the movie version sometime. I'm sure I can finish it before it comes out on DVD, at least! lol Next month's book looks a lot better...

Happy Crafting all!

Hi everyone! I'm working on a birthday card and wandered over here because I wanted to ask you all a question. I guess I might as well ask it here instead of starting a new thread!

What do you do when you're making a card for someone else and you aren't quite happy with the result? Give to them anyway and hope they like it? Toss it? Try to repurpose parts of it? I'm a bit torn here. It's not a bad card, I just don't love it.

I'm jealous of those of you who have nice weather this week, I was freezing walking around my area earlier.

SWLady, congrats on the closing! I so want a house, partly so I will have more space to set up my stamping and scrapbooking supplies.

Howdyheidi, I just read Anna Karenina in anticipation of seeing the movie. It took me about a month to finish. It was interesting, not at all what I was expecting! I'd be interested to hear your thoughts if you get around to reading it.

Gotta go get my laundry out of the wash and then get to bed. Good night everyone!

Hi KBPea, I think it is hard to make a card especially for someone. I try to make the cards, and then have a stash and choose a card from the stash as events come around. If I WERE making a special card and it didn't turn out just so, I would just give it.

I definitely will finish the book this time!! I have read 1/3 of it three times before, but I'm determined this time. I have had trouble with Russian literature in the past...

KBPea, I would probably give the card to the person you made it for, b/c more than likely, they will love it and not see the problems you see (thus don't say what it 'should have' looked like).

Chrisitn, Canon in D will always have a special place in my heart, b/c that was the first song I had to march to as a sophmore in high school marching band during our football halftime show. We had to memorize our music since I played flute and I was SO nervous trying to march to my spots and also play Canon in D----needless to say, I faked the song just so I could make my spots marching!!

Heidi, you did not get to eat any of your cake---I assume you got to eat the traditional first bite right!?!? We didn't get to eat our cake either and if it wasn't for one of my bridesmaid's great idea of packing us a plate of our foods, cakes for later, we would never got to taste what we had!! My only mishap--not a disappointment---was that my veil started catching on fire when we were doing the unity candle!! Somehow we put it out and no one knew, thankfully! Good laugh though!

Kathy congratulations on your closing on your house!! yeah!!

Got to work some on cards---hope to get to work on Marshia's challenge--like the colors and added twist! Want to try!!

Have a great day everyone!

LOL, Heidi! For a fun 'read' try 'War & Peace'! Now there's a good book club option... Anyone remember when Snoopy did a puppet show of W&P? Very funny series of strips in (I believe) the '70s. I avoid Russian literature unless it comes in comic book form.

KB. Short answer? Go with your gut. I've found that sharing our crafts greatly depends on our attitude rather than our skill.

Did ok on the grocery run. The bill was heftier than it's been, but got some good buys. Found a nice Ham. We'll use part for Christmas dinner.

Weather... A good bit colder today, but temps are supposed to climb back to 50+ by this weekend. An intersting weather pattern for us. The cold snaps have been dry & the warm ups have been moister. Works for me.

Gotta finish up my 'SY' (part 2), too. Although we're not tied to a hard deadline for shipping, I want to avoid dragging it on. So I plan to mail mine today--even if I'm not '100% satisfied. (kinda relates to KB's question).

BTW? Happy Saint Nicholas Day!

I wasn't alive then, but I love Peanuts so I'd love to see this! I wonder if it would be possible to dig it up on Youtube.

Thanks to everyone who shared what they do when a card doesn't turn out just right. As I'm looking at this afternoon I think I like it better. Maybe it was just my exhaustion and the lighting last night!

Looks like we're in for a cold rainy day here. Started out cold enough to create some icy spots on roads so local schools are on 2-hour delay. Not calling for steady rain, but good chance of periods of rain all day. 'Sok. No place we have to go today.

Hoping to get some more play time in, so y'all have a good today.

Morning All! Today starts '8 Crazy Nights' for those who celebrate around the mennorah. Happy Hannukkah! Mom & I will be having latkes this week--we both love potato pancakes! We combine sour cream & cottage cheese to top them & I like applesauce on the side.

Had a break in the showers, but more came in overnight. We're in another break between, but looks rainy well into next week. 'Sok! We really need the moisture & it's not sleet or snow.

Gotta thaw some chicken breasts. Mom's hungry for cordon bleu chicken for sunday dinner. Gonna have rice pilaf as one side. Not sure what else.

Want to work on the giftcard challenge today. Found several possible stamps to use. Ditto on my January tag. Found good stamp candidates & I'm in good shape for the snowflake requirement.

Best get a move on, so have a good'un!

Afternoon all!

Hope everyone is having a good day. It's a cloudy, rainy day here with temps in the 60s. We have a front moving in and a pretty drastic drop in temps over the next couple of days.

Not much going on today, I've been cleaning and sorting through stuff this week. I need to plan a goodwill run soon! I plan to get some crafting done today as soon as my Lil "helper" goes down for his nap!

DH is working tonight and I am not in the mood to cook, so I may look into some Chinese take out or Panera. He doesn't like either one so I figure I will indulge one of these while he's not here!

I've got some stamping on burlap projects that I plan to give as gifts if they go well. I'm kinda experimenting on this one. If I like them I will post them!

Well I'm off to go work on some crafty things and hopefully finish up my color challenge card! I also need to work on Heidi's too! Have a good one!

Hello and Happy Saturday! LeighAnn, what did you choose for dinner. It sounds like a good plan to get something you like. Daniel, Chicken Cordon Bleu sounds great!

Melissa, I did get to have the traditional first bite, then got called away to talk to someone or something. I spent so much time planning and choosing for that cake, it was one of the more important things for me. Oh well...

Today we got our tree. It is quite a nice one, we are all pleased with it. We may decorate a little village of gingerbread houses later.

Morning All!

Got the chicken prepped & in the oven. I don't bread the cordon bleu so it's more like a stuffed breast with nice crispy skin. I used honey ham & lots of swiss to stuff. We have a frozen side I'm using. Rice with broccoli & cheese. Since we're having tomato juice, I'm not doing an extra veggie, but will garnish mom's plate with a spiced apple ring & put a dab of cranberry sauce on mine. Might heat some canned gravy to drizzle on the chicken.

Weather here is cool & damp. Expecting rain showers later. Tomorrow looks to be a washout with steady rain expected. Figures. Mom has a dr's appt in the afternoon.

Watched the White House show on HGTV last night. Looks ok, but can't say I was dazzled by this year's decorations. Our house remains devoid of decorations. Just not in the mood to tackle it this year.

Probably won't get much crafting in today, either.

Stamping on burlap, Pug? Not an easy fabric to work with. Hope your pieces turn out.

Best to all. Gotta go baste the chicken.

Morning all!

Well, it's finally snowing here today. We're supposed to get anywhere from 1 to 4 inches. I like the snow, but not driving in it. Hubby took the kid to the high school parking lot so she could slide around in it, lol. This is her first snow driving! They did good though, and weren't the only ones with that thought. Others were there too.
Still haven't finished my second half of the swap. I have nothing to color it with!!!! Everything is done but the coloring! well, and the gluing, hehehe.
That chicken sounds yummy! You certainly go to extra effort Daniel in your cooking considering there are only two of you! I made cabbage rolls yesterday. Yummy!
Oh, they want to go to breakfast so I will finish up when we return!

Well that took a whiel! We ended up going to Radio Shack and getting new phones! Happy Hanukkah to me! LOL. We had ATT and iPhones, but mine died every 10 minutes and we had no service in our town. So now we have US Cellular and Galaxy phones. New toys!
Heidi there are lots of recipes for potato latkes, but they take some time. My MIL makes real ones but she's in Arizona. I actually buy the premade frozen ones. They aren't bad. And... Perkins has this special, potato pancakes loaded with cheese and yummy stuff. They were delicious!
Ok, time to go figure out how to color my card!

Hey Kathy, I will look for premade latkes in the frozen section. I didn't know they were available that way. Congrats on your new phone, I hope you like them. We are hoping to get some working phones soon too. We have the same problems as you, phone dies all the time and the network we are using isn't great.

We had a Christmas party this afternoon which was fun. It was an ugly sweater party.

No time for crafting today. Maybe tomorrow.

Kathy. Frozen latkes? I'll have to see what's available around here. All I've even seen are hash brown patties. Our market does carry dried mixes & we use them mostly--with a bit of tweaking. Don't mind making scratch ones--just not often. The cordon bleu was dead tasty! Mom & I split one for dinner so there's another for today or tomorrow. Far as cooking special just for us 2? I have a lot of learned tricks to do semi-scratch. That helps.

Heidi. 'Ugly sweater'? Love it!
