Happy New Chat! How is everyone faring this week? I was just at the Post office and it was incredible! It is really too bad I will need to go back later because I have a few more parcels not quite ready yet!

In other news this week, I haven't sent my Christmas cards yet. That doesn't bother me if they are barely on time or a day late.

Also to start today: Christmas cookies!

Both my kids seem to have some kind of illness brewing so I am really just hoping we all stay well for Christmas.

My tag swap is well on it's way, I hope to get that sent between Christmas and New Years.

It is rainy here today, but mild temp wise. I ran some errands and am glad to be back home. I need to upload some projects today. Still need to get a gift for our oldest son. Other than that I am ready for Christmas! Going with a neighbor tomorrow to a town nearby for lunch and some shopping. This is our Christmas time together!

LOL, Heidi! Love your chat 'title'! Works on so many levels--including cookies.

Mom knows she really can't do cookies these days, but we made a bakery run to get crusty bread for supper (having 'pea' soup) & mom got a box of their cookies & a box of petit fours. Didya know why they're called that? It's french for 'little baked'.

Good luck with your kids 'brewing/hatching' illness. Does seem to happen when it's most inconvenient, eh?

Weather here is also mild--for Dec. Overcast & damp, but otherwise it's not bad.

Speaking of crunch... Really need to do some decorating today to keep mom from going postal on me. It's either that or finding a way to slip her a 'Mickey' for the week!

Best get crackin'! Y'all have a good'un!

Stampwilly, how was your Christmas outing? Daniel, did you get those decorations up?

Well, I am happy to say that I did get all the parcels sent that I needed to, and they should all arrive by Christmas. That is a load off my shoulders!

I plan on making spaghetti and meat sauce tonight. And continue with holiday baking.

I have a feeling that many are really busy this week as the forum activity and gallery uploads have sharply dropped. The only crafting I think I will be doing will be making gift tags or doing kid crafts.

Have a great Tuesday!

I had a wonderful outing today. The weather felt like Spring. We ate at a Thai restaurant that was really good and we shopped!

Glad you got your packages in the mail today, Heidi. I still need to get gifts for one of my sons. He will be getting gift cards, but I have to go get them!

Supposed to be really nice here tomorrow, then rain and cold is coming.

I sent off my last parcel today (at least I hope it is the last). Still have a couple of cards to write notes in and send.

We got the tree up on Sunday, the lights on it last night and the decorations tonight. You'd think it was a huge undertaking that it took three nights to do, but it's really not big, just that there seems to be so much else gong on that by the time we get to it, in the evening, there wasn't enough time to get it finished.

I also took the car in for maintenance and to get the snow tires put on today.
The ground is bare right now and it was tempting to wait till after the holidays to do it but I"ve driven in enough unexpected snow storms over the years that I really don't need to be doing that again without the winter tires on.

Daniel do I detect a note of grinchiness in your attitude to decorating for the holidays? I'm surprised, given your bacchanalian avatar update I would have expected you to be festooning the halls while singing Christmas carols.

LOL, 'GC'! Not so much 'grinchy' as just plain lazy. Doing lots of decorating just plain takes way too much effort. I do try to do a bit for mom's sake, but it becomes more difficult with each passing year.

Hey all! I've been kind of awol lately. Finally got all my Christmas cards mailed today, and the last 3 packages shipped off. All should arrive by Christmas... fingers crossed, lol!
We are expecting a blizzard tomorrow! It snowed a bit yesterday, and we are supposed to get dumped on tonight, 6 to 18 inches and then blizzardy tomorrow. Got plenty of stuff to eat and all that... as long as we still have electricity, hehehe. If not, I guess the gas fireplace will have to do!
Making tacos for dinner tonight, hamburger for us, shrimp for the pesky kid, hehehe. Bought my prime rib for Christmas dinner on sale today.
Everyone have a Merry Christmas! It will be a white one for us, that's for sure!

The name of this thread sure is accurate...I've been running around doing little things that seem to eat up the whole day.

I haven't done much crafting, except for a few last minute tags to go with Christmas paper for gifts.

I hope you are all getting to the point where you can stop stressing about what needs doing and enjoy the holidays.

Kathy, stay safe in the Blizzard! Is anyone else in any of these areas with strange weather? It is cold here but I don't think we will be getting any kind of severe or dangerous weather.

There is so much left to do and so much distracting me this week. The one thing I have totally neglected is teacher gifts. I will probably try to get some Starbucks gift cards. Need them by tomorrow morning!

Struggling a little bit in general in getting things done this week. There are so many events and meetings.

HI all,

Well, so far we are warm and cozy, but that's cuz we're inside. Last night when we went to bed we had no snow on the ground, but it was snowing lighting. This morning we have at least a foot of snow and it's still going! The blizzard warning comes into effect anytime now. But I think we'll be fine.
Made a trip to the grocery store to make sure we had everything we needed so we don't need to go out today! LOL. I am NOT driving in this! It sure is pretty though. I love to watch the snow falling!
No crafting today for me. I got a new PC game.... hehehe Long as the electricity stays up I am good!
Everyone have a great day! Good wishes for all those in the storm that it won't be as bad as they say!

Hi everyone!

SO so busy!!-- as I see many of you are!!

Oh the weather!!! Oh it was a terrible dust/wind storm yesterday for me!! SO SO windy!!! Sustained winds of 35 mph ALL day!! ALL day!! and gusts up to 60-70 mph!! The sky was brown (and orangy-brown) all day!! Made for some interesting lighting inside my house with the brown/goldish hue over everything. I did not go out in the wind storm---stayed home and listened to my house creak under the wind!! Thought my roof would fly off or windows break! So now I have a nice pile of dirt on my front porch I need to sweep up----maybe tomorrow...

Crafting some today!! Trying to finish everything!! And I haven't even thought about food for Christmas! One thing at a time, one thing at a time.....

I hope everyone is doing ok with all the weather and time crunches!! and I hope everyone is ok in the tornado warning areas today or yesterday! Glad you're able to stay inside where it warm and safe and play games Kathy!!

Good luck Heidi and GC with all the things y'all need to finish!

Everyone have a great day!

No weather woes for our area. We're on the 'warm' side of this storm & doesn't appear that wind will be a 'huge' problem. Fingers crossed. One thing we can all say about 'our' weather? It changes all the time regardless of where we live!

Blizzard aside, Kathy? I bet it is lovely with the snow. Enjoy playing your game. Hmmm Wonder if a kerosine-powered 'puter is possible? Steampunk puters anyone?

LOL, Melissa! I hearya with 'one thing @ a time'! As GC says 'little jobs can take up a whole day'. Amen! Like doing a 'simple' stamping piece, eh.

Speaking of 'Christmas Miracles'... Mom & I are doing better at dealing with what's 'necessary'. We're listening to one another & recognizing that we both have limitations--physical & mental. I think it might have helped that my knee decided to act up yesterday afternoon. By evening I had trouble walking without a cane. Don't worry, I'm fine, but she knows I'm not kidding. We had a good chat & I was able to do a few things today. We're collaborating on a game plan for the remaining days before Christmas. It's a good thing...

Y'all have a good'un & seeya soon!

Daniel, I hope you are able to rest your knee and it feels better soon. It's good that you and your mom are near the same page now.

Melissa, I bet the dust storm was quite an experience. It certainly isn't anything I have seen before.

Kathy, I'm glad to hear you were doing well in the storm. Do you still have power?

It is quite cool and fairly clear this morning after a lot of rain overnight. The ditches and reservoirs are all filled up this morning.

I was able to get starbucks cards for all the teachers and teacher helpers. You HAVE to give gifts to the teachers when you have troublemakers like my boys. I have most of the wrapping done too.

I am 43% done with Anna Karenina according to the kindle app, and I'm certain that is so much further than I got before. It is really interesting.

Happy Friday to all!

Heidi. LOL on the 'Anna Karenina'! I won't spoil the ending for you...

We had decent rain overnight & some good gusts. Both have moved on. Turning colder, but still not arctic. We've decided to have pancakes & sausage for supper today. Should taste good on a blustery day.

Tomorrow is 'bread day'. Gonna help mom keep her tradition alive of making & giving homemade bread to a select group of people. We'll probably make 7-8 loaves & keep one for the house. Her recipe contains no milk so it holds well & has a course texture that's great for sopping up soup broth. We should have it done well before noon on sat.

Best get going if I'm going to get anything accomplished today!

Y'all have a good'un!

I'm Baaaack! Not sure the world is still around elsewhere, but we're here!

Been a pretty good day for an End-of-the-World one. Actually got a few things accomplished!

Mom & I went to the 'state store' & I got all my family gifts. Mom's getting large bottles of cream sherry & port. Found good booze for Sis & her family. Got her razzberry schnappes. Nephew's getting melon schnappes & BIL's getting bourbon. Didn't go 'top shelf' for those, but they ain't flavored 'sterno' either

Mom's making our supper. I got all the stuff around for her & she's gonna make the pancakes & sausage. When we got back from doing the liquor run, I started the chicken broth (scratch) we're gonna use for Sunday's dinner (watch for a Dinner Bell thread).

Got a tad further on the decorating scene, too.

Also finished my Send YOU! part 2! I'm on a roll!

Sounds like a busy day.
I spent a good part of the morning driving out to a large shopping centre that is a bit farther away than I usually care to go, to look for one particular gift...then 15 minutes driving around looking for a parking spot, then said, "to heck with this" and drove home.

I won't be giving this gift till the 26th or 27th so I'll either find something else or try again later. Not only was the parking lot full but lots of people were acting like jerks trying to grab spaces...just wasn't in the mood to deal.

I've got some home made pea soup for dinner tonight ( one of my favourites!) and it should be good if it is cold and wet and blustery out, as it looks like it is going to be today.

Happy 21st! Looks like we're all still around!

I've been a little MIA. I've been battling a sinus and respiratory infection. I haven't felt up to much Internetting lately. I did manage to finish up my "handmade" gifts as well as my shopping. DH surprised by wrapping it all. That's a gift in its self!

Now I need to get things packed. We are heading out of town tomorrow. I'm ready to relax and spend time with family.

Daniel, you've been awfully busy today! Hope your knee is doing better.

Heidi, a Starbucks gift card is always a winner!

Gardencat, I've tried to avoid big shopping centers at all cost this time of year. People are so rude and crazy!

Well I'm off to get some things moving around here. Have a good evening!

LeighAnn, glad you are feeling better! Gardencat, I don't blame you on the parking! Daniel, it sounds like you got some good gifts!

I will need to do some grocery shopping today. I am feeling like everything I want to do is doable for the holidays. Today I am making tags for the gifts I don't have a tag for (before I forget who they are for and have to unwrap them). I even finished my Tag Swap and it is ready to be mailed!

We have started a ridiculously hard holiday wreath puzzle and are doing baking too. Kids are hanging in there with their colds and such. We are having citrus pork for dinner tonight.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Happy Today!

Since I've already shared about the 'bread baking' on my 'Dinner Bell' thread, I won't repeat here 'cept to say it went very well!

Mom's nephew (Larry) stopped by for his loaf. He gave mom a huge poinsettia that is perfect on the mantel next to our tree which is decked with poinsettia & holly.

I delivered the neighbors' loaves & am taking a break as the knee is twinging just a little. Before too long, I'll head down the block & get us some meatball hoagies for supper. Also going to get some beverages & check out their sherbet. Mom likes it when I make a Christmas Day 'punch'. Might check out egg nog, but neither of us is big on commercial versions. Most have too much rum flavoring.

Saw that Magoo's Christmas Carol is on tv tonight (NBC 8pm EST). Hooray!!! Not gonna miss it! I plan to sing along with the cast! Hoping mom will watch it with me, but she's had a long day. We'll see. For those StamPeas too young to remember when this was a network tradition? It premiered in '62--well before Charlie Brown & his tree. And Gerald McBoing-boing plays Tiny Tim! God Bless us everyone!

Got an email that my stamp order has been shipped. I know! I said I wasn't going to buy any new stamps, but... Mom's giving me $s for Christmas & the company has architectural stamps that I just had to have. All are rubber & UMS! If you're interested in the source? Send me a PM. I don't want to promote another company on our forum since 2Ps sells so many great lines & sponsors us.

Have a few more threads to check, so y'all have a great rest of today.

We got a dusting of snow overnite & it's blustery. Looks like a chance of a bit more 'white' on Christmas Eve. I can live with that. Tis the season!

I am making tags for the gifts I don't have a tag for (before I forget who they are for and have to unwrap them).

I've done that...boy made me feel like a fool.

I think I have finished my Christmas shopping. I still want to pick up one small thing, as an add on to a gift, but if I can't get it in time at least I still have that person covered and I can just get them the extra later.

Now just got to wrap and decide if I want to try to make a batch of shortbread. I bought the ingredients but heaven knows none of us really needs more butter and sugar in our diets!

Looks like we are having a green Christmas. I love the look of a white Christmas but have to admit now that I have kids who are out on the roads going from place to place I am almost willing to sacrifice the snowy Christmas for less slippery driving.

Hope you enjoy your new stamps Daniel. I've been resisting looking at any for a while now, trying to save money to put into other's gifts but I feel the urge to stamp shop coming on strong. LOL

I too have been MIA - tonight am taking a deep breath - shopping done, gifts wrapped and either given out or are under the tree. Have one gift left to wrap, it is in the car and have to wait til dh is not around. Now I am going to sit back and enjoy Christmas.

Too much of a rush this year for me - everything seemed to be last minutes hurry up.

Made cookies, that turned out badly but was brave enough to make coated pecan this week end and they turned out ok.

Must get crafty after Christmas - but will have to clean monkeys out of craft room.

Merry Christmas to all of you. Believe in Santa Claus

Happy Sunday All!

Watched Magoo 'solo'. Mom was getting tired. A bit bummed that NBC didn't run the program intact, but enjoyed it otherwise. My fave song? "We're Despicable" Sang along.

Mom saved 2 pieces of the fried dough for me. Wonderful flavor.

Still have stuff to clean up, but what gets done gets done.

With this week's weather looking iffy, we're doing the grocery run tomorrow.

Today is sunny. Cold, but not arctic & no strong wind. First part of Christmas Eve Day looks good. Chance of enough snow later to give us a (light) White Christmas.

Y'all have a great today!

Kathy, beautiful snow photos!
lickeyann, my pumpkin bread turned out badly, sadly, still hoping the cookies will be good.
Daniel, watched some of the Magoo last night. I had not seen that one before. My sentimental favorite version is the Mickey one, but it is a good story in any form.

Not much more to do before Christmas. Just whatever cookies I have time for, maybe driving around to look at Christmas lights. One more swim lesson and packing up to visit relatives.

Your part 2 is gorgeous, Kathy! As for the snow? Tanx. We're not expecting that much--thank goodness.

Gotta LOL. Mom made her dumplings & only 2 'survived'. we both forgot that dumplings don't hold together well if they are just dropped into broth. They require solids to keep them on top. 'Sok. Mom said they tasted good & she LOVED the wings I fried.

I got to see about the first half of Magoo but then had to leave to pick hubby up at the airport.
trips to and from the airport aways seem to be part of the Christmas to do list. At least this year the plane was only about 30 minutes late, we've had years where an arriving guest has been hours late, due to snowy or icy weather so seems like we got off easy this time around.
