With the start of 2013 breathing down our necks, I figure it's not too soon for this thread. Disagree? 'Sucks to you'

We already have some 'on-going' challenges/swaps--weekly sketch, color, tag. Good for us!

So let's share what we'd like to see happen with them as we gear up for another great year of creativity as StamPeas!

I'd like to see some challenges/swaps that encourage participants to employ techniques that were among the first that many of us learned when we got into stamping. For me that would be masking.

Another? How about 'combining' 2 or more stamps to create a single image? Examples? Replace Mona Lisa's face with that of cute kitten or puppy. Create a stamped tree/forest using 'people' stamps for the trunks & branches.

I love the idea of using "basic" stamping skills for a swap. I remember the first time that I masked an image I was so impressed with myself. It was like magic! And now I don't even remember the last time I made a mask.
Hopefully it would encourage new stampers to give it a try also.

I've been thinking about a couple of ideas. I already have my monthly tag swap but I've been thinking about things like a die cut swap, round robin card swap, handmade embellishment with our stamps challenges, and I would love to see another image swap that was a lot of fun.

I'd like to see technique challenges or more straightforward challenges. I like the idea of a masking one, I don't do that much at all.

Another challenge idea we haven't done here (that I know of) is a photo challenge, where you draw either color inspiration or whatever else from a photo. That would be fun to incorporate this with stamping and it is fun to see how each person interprets it.

Lots of terrific ideas!

FWIW. Check out the '2013 stamping plans' thread. Some posters are thinking along similar lines...

Ruby. Yes. Masking is magical & lots of us get away from it (see the thread I mention)

Heidi. Yes. On the other thread Garden Cat talks about combining photos & stamping. Sounds like a good one for a challenge.

Pug. Yes. I too like an occasion 'stuff' swap.

Keep 'em coming folks. Don't forget! We have a party coming up in Feb. While doing swaps during party week are 'iffy', we can certainly use some of our ideas for party challenges...

If I am thinking about my own stamping goals, I wonder if there is a way to have a part one challenge, and then a part two challenge that makes you go even further with the technique, etc.

not sure how that would work...

not sure how many people would want to do both parts of a challenge like that...

Since many people stated that they want to send more...a neat thread we could start is what cards did you send this month, where you could post photos of the actual cards you sent out, even if you made them a while ago. What is the interest in that kind of thing?

Also wondering, is anyone here interested in making up card sketches?

Or interested in some kind "Card A Week" challenge that can be combined with any other challenge?

Hmmm, I was thinking about card sketches, too. I think I'd like to come up with one, but I'm definitely not committing to a series! I'm impressed that Kimber was able to come up with one every week!

I think it would be fun no matter how many you did, Christin.

I've been out of commission for a while now, I've missed you peas. But I'm back and so excited! Hope to get caught up on the discussion threads today.

Many great ideas for challenges! I'd like to suggest a 'hit & run' challenge, where someone randomly chooses & challenges someone else to HOST a challenge. What challenge is up to the randomly selected victim, I mean person LOL

Dang it! I missed the February tag challenge BUT if anyone wants to swap a February tag with me I'm willing.

So far the challenges suggested..

  • weekly sketch
  • color (eagertoretire)
  • tag (lovepug2)
  • masking
  • stamp combining
  • die cuts
  • round robin card swap
  • image swap
  • hand made embellishment swap
  • combining photos & stamping
  • "Card A Week" challenge
  • Hoarders Anonymous (HA) challenge
  • hit & run challenge
  • photo inspiration challenge (howdiheidi)
  • "Christmas All Year" (iring)

I'm so loving ALL these ideas!

Have I missed any? Many are already underway!

I'll be posting a color challenge in the next day or two, I hope you'll play along!

LOL, Marshia! I PM'd you 'bout the Feb tag!

So glad you're back.

I kept trying to find this thread, but couldn't find it. Go figure!
